Mr. Whitt Takes on Country Life
JordanThomasHall11 June 2018
Mr. Whitt has his story returned by a New York City magazine publisher named Mr. J.R. Weems (familiar character actor Jerome Cowan). It discourages Mr. Whitt from continuing his writing. This makes Tammy write a letter to Mr. Weems who likes the country style and mistakes it as being from Mr. Whitt. Mr. Weems phones to say he would like to start a serial of that style in his magazine. When Mr. Whitt learns of the mistake he invites himself to the Tarletons for a couple of days to learn "the full spirit of their culture". He comically takes on aspects of country life and translates the experiences into his writing, which again is mostly Tammy's phrases. When Mr. Weems comes to visit, Mr. Whitt must take on a deeper country image- with complications.
