Clever Idea

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoy being surprised, and Lisa the Boy Scout surprised me. The showrunners pulled a fast one on the viewer; "Lisa the Boy Scout" is a red herring, as the episode itself actually has nothing to do with that. While the rest of the episode is a compilation of "bad" scenes from the history of the show, the scenes are funny. I enjoyed the creativity the showrunners put into making an episode like this.

Disney is referenced in the end of the episode, but I think the Disney integration with the Simpsons seems natural. It doesn't come off as forced, and it added to the humor of the scene.

With Lisa the Boy Scout, coupled with what I thought was a strong season opening with "Habeas Tortoise", Season 34 is off to a remarkably good start.

Loved it

I loved this episode! It was all over the place but actually kept you watching. I didn't find myself starting to get bored during the episode, as many of the newer seasons episodes have felt underwhelming. Usually lacking that "heart" the Simpson's used to have.

This was the Funniest episode of the Simpson's that I have seen in a very long time!

It through back with a bunch of clips from its funniest episodes and actually had me laughing out loud multiple times. To the People who say the episode was crude, where have you been for the past 33 seasons?? It's the Simpson's, what did you expect?

Great episode! 👍

Warning: Spoilers
Honestly, this episode was a breath of fresh air for the Simpsons. The past episodes have haved terrible plots and zero jokes, this episode had zero plot and I absolutely loved it. The whole episode was just a random clips that made absolutely no sense, but here's the thing, they were actually funny and this was the funniest episode they've done for years!

This is definitely a lot different from the regular Simpsons episodes and that's why many people didn't like this episodes, but if you just want to laugh and don't care about the plot, this is the right episode for you. This episode reminded me of Rick and Mortys Interdimensional Cable episodes.

Purposely Bad
actaction29 October 2022
Hard to criticize an episode that is purposely trying to write bad concepts and plots not good enough for the show. The only comparison I can make is when Simpsons did the Mid-Season replacement three-segment episode way back in the first decade. In that the concepts were all again supposed to be bad, cheesy, unsellable; however, the jokes continued from there with fully baked lampooning of mystery cop shows, the Brady Bunch musical debacle & "My Mother the car". Here the joke is funny, but it never gets past that and feels like a Robot Chicken grouping of random spliced vignettes of bad concepts. The concepts are also not just bad, but sometimes the joke is how awkward it makes us feel. It's successful in doing that, but I'm not sure if that's entertainment exactly. The show isn't a complete loss as it does have a few good random moments and a few jokes that work.

MY OPINION
jaimesalex-9683925 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It is a good episode, almost reaching the excellent, but, the beginning that was supposed to be Bart Boy Scout and why are they almost fainted at the end?, and another point is that, we already knew that Ralph is not the son of Gorgory, but hey, What made the most impact is that Martin is not a child genius, but rather an undercover cop with a wife and children, and also that NY was Carl's imaginary friend, (but it seemed absurd to me), that selma is the mother of marge, and that his real dad is disco stu and lastly, that santa's helper speaks (family guy style). This episode have a 7 stars...

Excellent!

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was nothing short of brilliant, from making fun of fan theories i.e. Homer in a coma, and lamp-shading events that happened several times in the show such as Marge and Homer nearly splitting up and even having Bart as an adult travel back to the first episode inform everyone about the future!, and even have the animation style for everyone look about the same as it did back then!

While I did enjoy most of it, I was not fond of the segment with Skinner and his mom, that was just very unsettling to sit through. Also I wonder why they didn't bring up Barney being Nelson/Nelson's father, but I guess there was only so much they could do.

However, other than that, it was a fun ride and very funny and brilliant !

A good clip show
patanu9 April 2024
You would think with a whole episode being nothing but bits and clips at the expense of making fun of the ideas the simpsons could have written as episodes would be lame. But ironically its one of the funniest episodes ive seen in a while. Almost all the bits were funny and even some I kinda wish were actual episodes, espiecally the thing with Martin being an undercover cop.

I dont know if this is ironic or poetic that a compilation of the segments are actually funnier then the past couple episodes this season but its likely the self-deprication of the show making fun of itself for going on for so long. Almost a reminder of the past clip show episodes that made fun of the simpsons going on for years. But in this its a clever jab at itself.

Warning: Spoilers
The people panning this episode must have watched a different show than I saw.

I saw a hilarious string of one-off scenarios that had me rolling till the almost-end (yeah, the end tag was weak). Some of the jokes went straight over my kids's heads - they just looked at me like I was more strange than usual. I saw this episode as a patron to all the "adult" animation out now that goes so much further than The Simpson ever dreamed, rife with explicit language, themes, and visuals. Sure, the hacker story was corny and mostly unfunny, but the clips more than made up for it. Been watching since ep 1, and still a fan.

What the heck was THAT?
RandomFan202210 October 2022
If the creators of The Simpsons wants to stop making it, just do it. For the last several years, there had been more emphasis on the couch gags than the actual stories, but this episode takes the cake. Clip after clip after clip of unfunny scenes. It's like they're TRYING to drive us away.

Whoever wrote this must have thought they were clever with their self-hating scenes. They trashed themselves, Disney, FOX and anyone else they could get at. They were wrong, so very wrong. They managed to make a 30 minute show feel like an hour. Or more. It wasn't funny. It wasn't clever. It wasn't thought-provoking. It was just awful. They should be ashamed.

Just Amazing
This is one of The best episodes in years. Many people says the show is just bad now. I still think there is a handfull of god episodes in every season. But this one is just absolutely amazing. It is almost a gift to the hardcore fans. I understand why some people don't like it. It is very meta, and it feels like something very differentiere. But i would much rather have something i havent seen before, then a simular episode idea i have seen before. Because even i you like it ore not, it is at least something new. People that give this episode a low rating, is obviously just not a hardcore Simpsons fan.

The Very Worst Episode Of The Simpsons Ever Made!!
Sinemah_Freek11 October 2022
It Would Be Wonderful To Actually Have The Ability, When Rating Television Shows On "The Internet Movie Database Website", To Give A Rating Of Zero, Or Below Zero. This Particular Episode Of The Simpsons Deserves - Oh - Let's See - Ummmmmm - A Negative 100 Points At Best. It Is Beyond Boring, Beyond Stupid, And Beyond Terrible. One Might Even Call This Particular Episode Of The Simpsons "Pornographic", Because It Has ZERO Socially Redeeming Quality At All.

It is nothing But A Bunch Of Ridiculous Images - Strung Together - In A Crude Manner - And The Creators Of This Trash Had The Nerve To Call The Simpsons. Nope. No Socially Redeeming Value In This Episode At All.

Warning: Spoilers
I love the concept of this episode of a bunch of conspiracy theories about the show put into a clip show with a story behind it of the show being hijacked and them releasing a bunch of unreleased clips of the Simpsons, so far the best episode of season 34 with a lot of great jokes and some great animation. The episode is like a non-canon episode of 22 short stories about Springfield, not as good though but still really good, I would recommend checking this one out . It kept me interested all the way through the episode which most modern Simpsons episodes can't do. Hopefully the The Simpsons carries on its renaissance from last season and the next episode is as good as this one.

Good Laugh
Emil_Vinod13 October 2022
Yes it was very chaotic and it did lack structure but it was end to end funny and that's been a long time coming with the new Simpson episodes. It reminded me of the joy of watching the Simpsons. There were several takes of intelligent humor and I genuinely believe that this was the Funniest episode of the Simpsons in the digital realm. On the contrary though there were some incomplete strings attached with the plot and overall theme but the format off several 1 minute gags truly resonates with the Simpsons and though there wasn't a great memorable story it had some great jokes and gags. Really Happy to see the Simpsons adapting to the new medium while being Hilarious.

Please do better for the sake of the people who still watch.

Warning: Spoilers
Honestly if they're afraid of the show getting cancelled they should stop trying to get with the times and stick to what worked like anything from season 25 and before. It seems like they're caught in a cycle of trying to keep most of their humor these days "PC" to the point that half of the jokes are severely unfunny. If anything was redeemable from this episode that they should take note on to find out what actually works, it's the scene towards the end where superintendent charmers is lashing his own back in front of the Jesus effigy, I genuinely laughed at that. To be fair the same things is happening to family guy but I expected a lot better from Americas longest running adult cartoon and probably one of the most influential shows to any of the creators who's shows preceded the Simpsons. Also they could've used a more intriguing plot for the beginning and the end that would have left a comedic nod of feeling like we actually missed an episode the audience would've wanted to watch but instead the non canon shorts feel like they somehow still saved the audience from an episode with a completely unwatchable plot.

They should've kept the original title
brettw-6654611 October 2022
Lisa the Boy scout is actually too short due those two scary hackers wasting their time screwing all the abandoned clips which I wish that never happen and they should've kept the name "Love Hacktually" because their writer Michael Price is such a moron, he kept changing names several times and he have been making the show this horrible since "the Boys of Bummer".

I was offended when Homer uses the D Bomb when he ended having Canadian Football players and Sorry, Canada is better than US because USA sucks. All the Characters weird appearances are just so Idiotic and lost out of Nowhere and the third scenes are just talking hating the Simpsons.

All these Hacktulally clips makes me think the fans just want to quit right Now.

As pathetic as the 10-star reviews
ScrewCancelCulture1 November 2023
I don't even know where to start do I start with how poor this episode was how horribly bad it was or the idiotic reviews giving it 10 stars I mean I know noob Simpsons fans are delusional I know newbie Simpsons fans are that delusional that they try and find the positive in every episode but this is beyond delusion it is the worst episode of The Simpsons I've ever seen and that saying something because there was some bad ones over the years and the irony is the actual idea for the storyline Lisa The Boy Scout the idea that Lisa joins the Boy scouts and compete with Bart is actually a cool idea that could be a decent episode but no instead of doing that they do this idiotic terrorist idea where the show is hijacked anyway I'm not going to waste my energy on it, it's a damn bad episode and this is as stupid as the morons who are 10 starring it.

Morty's Mindblowers 2.0?
knuckle-9977917 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
In an odd turn about, simpsons has begun copying other cartoons, instead of leading the pack in themes, tropes, even plots.

The episode is high jacked by some Guy Fawkes-esque mask wearing hackers. What follows are a series of vignettes with the main cast in a series of "un-aired" content stolen from Disney.

The problem the episode encounters is, unlike MMbs, there is no overarching story in which to embed the "lost eps." The 2 hackers falling in love, getting caught with the FBI at the door; there's absolutely nothing to do with our First Family of animation.

It feels like some Simpsons junior writer suggested to glom the popularity of Rick and Morty, then execute content ala Family Guy. Which sounded great to a senior staff who were fed up with their jobs, but failed to come together in any meaningful way.

By the end of the episode, all stakes have been removed with the "it was just a dream" trope. But this is another clip, so is it true? Are the Simpsons all a figment of Homer's coma dreams? Are they characters, and the property of Disney, nee Fox? Who cares.

Some chuckles, some good moments. But not a great episode. And, fun fact, IRL I met a girl named Brandon, who took her husband's last name upon marrying him. His first name is also Brandon. So now they both legally have the same name, first and last. Unsure about middle.

This episode, much like you all feel about my anecdote right now, fails to maintain interest across a mere 22 minutes. Fortunately Rick has repaired portal technology, so with a little luck, we can escape this lazy dimension and return to a non serialized season, filled by coherent A/b storyline episodes, unrelated to anything else.

RIP Maude.

Lisa the Boy Scout
studioAT12 November 2023
It's great to see that the creative powers behind this show are still looking to surprise us and do different things. After all these many, many years that praise can't be given quickly enough.

Unfortunately thoughn when you try to do different things you end up leaving some viewers in the cold, and that's what happened with this episode for me.

I saw the benefits of trying something different, I liked bits of what I saw, but it just wasn't for me. It didn't work, and I can't say I overly enjoyed it.

Others did though, and that's important too. I hope the show continues to try new things going forward.
