This is a coming of age Chinese student film with a bit different plot than the usual college students meet on or off campus and discuss their love lives and unrealistic parental expectations. This one has the students as expats in Japan, and it changes the conversations just a bit. Added to personal lives and parental expectations, you now have life in Tokyo, which is very different from going to college in mainland China. China is 90% Han; Japan is 99% NON-Han. This makes for a very different feeling. In China, you would not think twice about being Chinese, but in Tokyo, all you can do is notice the difference between Han Chinese and native Japanese; and there are profound differences. There are a few comical situations, and Japanese girls are just as sexy as Chinese girls, so that is something else to consider for the male students. Fun to watch expat students squirm out of their cultures.
