All of a sudden, the Merriwick's identity as witches is revealed to the audience--over and over again. How? Because everybody in town already knows! I much prefer all the winks when "Cassie knows". A gentler, ongoing revelation to each person would have been more interesting.
What happened to that conversation when a young Grace (in an early Halloween movie) is upset when classmates call her a witch and then wants her mother to call off the haunted Grey House? (If Grace was told that she is indeed a witch, the audience was not told.) The language of "gift" prevailed--until suddenly in this episode, which felt heavy-handed.
And where is immediate concern for Grace in this episode if Grace truly is a witch, too?
Ridiculous and so disappointing.
