The first two episodes of "Theater Macabre" were surprisingly original and entertaining, but not at all horrific and quite unworthy of the show's title. The third installment, however, makes up for this and then some! "The Torture of Hope" is morbidly atmospheric from start to finish, thanks to the setting (during the inquisition), the plot (a convict awaiting his execution), the nefarious characters (hypocrite Catholics), the medical/anatomic references, and the downbeat ending. The story is ridiculously simply, but compelling and you'll find yourself genuinely cheering (or praying) for the lead protagonist. Will the prayers be answered, though?
