Sex & Nudity

  • A man and woman have sex with each other in the nude, one of the woman's breasts being plainly visible whenever not caressed. She moans a bit as well.
  • A man is chastised for impregnating "the whole community".
  • A small child is given a bath.

Violence & Gore

  • There are several scenes with shootouts, some involving fully-automatic rifles, in which armed and unarmed men are die, in urban and civilian settings. Most of the firefights are with pistols, especially revolvers. There are a couple of stabbings and drive-by shootings as well. Numerous murders, and a few robberies and beatings, are depicted, often with multiple attackers and a single victim.
  • A man's brains are blown out at point-blank range by another man wielding a revolver, the blood spatters onto the face of a woman near him, and she screams. There is a distance view of his bloodied and slain corpse. While the graphic detail and light color of the blood somewhat unrealistic, the tension is very raw.
  • Holding another man up against a wall, a man slashes the other man's face with a switchblade. Bleeding can be seen as the cut is being made, in a brief close-up shot.
  • The skin around a man's eye is severely swollen from a beating.
  • A man snatches up a woman and seemingly attempts to rape her but is gunned down.
  • There is a shot of a corpse floating in the blood-soaked waters of the shoreline of a beach.
  • A group of men set a building ablaze and shoot to death all of the inhabitants as they try to escape the fire.
  • At a party, a man strikes another man with a beer bottle, hard enough to break the bottle, and then a sporting knife is drawn but the commotion is broken up before a fight starts.
  • Two men sneak into a house, ambush and momentarily hold the man and woman residing therein hostage at gunpoint.
  • A man grabs another man by the neck loosely but in a very intimidating manner, pressing him up against a wall.
  • In the one of the opening scenes, a group of gang men raid a political rally, fire their pistols into the air and hurl a Molotov cocktail toward the rally's speaker, but it strikes the ground. The frightened crowd disperses and flees.
  • Two men glance over a child's rudimentary drawings of gang violence and fatalities.

Profanity

  • The word "fuck" is uttered at least once. Jamaican slurs such as "bumbohole", "bomboclaat" and "bloodclaat" are regularly uttered. The word "pussy" is uttered once.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • The Rasta elders and their followers can be seen smoking from bongs during a religious ritual.
  • A man fills a cigar skin with marijuana pieces, sprinkles a little bit of white powder onto the marijuana, stirs it in, rolls this new cigar and smokes it.
  • A group of drunken party-goers stumble as they make their way to the parking lot where their vehicles are.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The scene where Kemala and Chris are riding in a taxi sneaking out of town is intense, and overall most of the violent scenes in the movie are intense.
