This series was not drawn out. It had subplots and great character development. Based on true story of terra earth being around for 5 yrs when google stole it. I was hoping to see Netlist mentioned in the series as their memory saved google 1/2 electric cost and got search results in 1/2 the time. This gave them unfair advantage over other search engines. Everything google achieved was only because they stole, cheated and lied to get there. Squashing small startups daily. This 4 part series gives a great picture of what I'm talking about. Presented not as a documentary but rather a true story drama. I didn't get lost, or bored, or confused at all. Hope people watch this short series!

This is a story that everyone should see. Everyone.
"Don't be Evil" is stated as Google's catchphrase from their code of conduct- well, except when you are being evil and screwing people out of their intellectual property.
An eye-opening view of Google and their approach to IP.

Well made and very interesting

I don't think much of this series bears any relationship to a true story but it's well made and raises very interesting points about developing a start-up and protecting your IP.
Good acting directing and script. I'd recommend it.

A bit depressing in the end

Warning: Spoilers
It wouldn't be a revelation to me if Google was a bad actor. But your hoping and expecting in this movie they get called for it . So it was a bit of an anti climax when Google won. Maybe it's a good movie because it shows something that is a reflection of real life where sometimes the good guy loses. Would have liked to see in the end credits where are now etc. Google amazon apple Facebook. , maybe not good for us but they are good at what they do .
Interesting and insightful

Great storytelling - shame they omitted 1 critical part

Warning: Spoilers
This is a fantastically well produced show. The storytelling is compelling and dramatic and the 4 parts play great as a mini-series.
The only reason the show drops from a 9 to 6 though is just the emotional toll or reading the truth after the series. The fact the whole of TerraVision was a rip off of another app called TerraVision created years earlier in the US made me feel like I wasted hours watching the show. But I think what gets me most, is that this critical fact of the story could have been included and would've added to the drama of the series. I feel the show purposefully omitted it essentially like a clickbait news article, for simple popularity to bash Google, and that, quite honestly, kind of sucks and really lowers/ruins the otherwise great work here!

Here is a non-story; and a long one at that...
gcarpiceci20 December 2023
Why is it a non story? For a few simple reasons:
1. Against all odds, a David attacks a Goliath and, guess what?, he loses...big story uh?
2. You don't need to be a lawyer to know that patent trials are so difficult to be be almost impossible to win; so this is just the story of another one who bites the dust in this arena.
3. Ok then, we are left with the story of the big bad corporation smashing the hopes of a small startup of young geniuses; well, I'll break the news here that the road to Silicon Valley is paved with stolen ideas, or more simply by people pulling together a series of other ideas and making a bigger one out of it.
4. And then, let's face it: the two youngsters were definitely very smart, probably genuinely genius; but let's face it, they were so naive to border dumb, they made an endless series of mistakes, so e of them even gross. And you know what? Life's tough, there are consequences and hoping that you get a free pass just because you're young, you're smart and enthusiastic is just pure kumbaya 5. Last but not least, the performances and the production values of this overlong series are subpar to be kind; maybe the producers embraced the "garage spirit" of the protagonists...

Well acted, as dramatic as Social Network

The show tells an unexpected story about the people who were the original brains behind Google Earth invention and the result of corporations stealing and using other people ideas ... Remember when Apple bought Mouse patent for 1000$ from Xerox, well that's a very similar story... Honestly it's great such stories come out of nowhere , not only you learn so much about an everyday thing you use, but it can completely catch you by surprise... Cheers to the original devs, if not for you I'd be hiking much less...
Stay to watch behind the scenes after the show

Warning: Spoilers
Behind the scenes answers a lot of questions arising after the show. I really wish this show will blow so that as many people as possible will hear about this pattern of abuse that giant corporations like Google feel they can get away with.
To me the quote from behind the scenes "If google it there aren't many results that show you the trial and the whole thing that happened. Because you google it!" sadly sums it all up.

Positive surprise with DARK and Babylon Berlin actors
quidje_hh10 October 2021
The series develops in a surprisingly varied way. Just when I thought the story was finished, it really got going and the fantastic Mark Waschke, Misel Maticevc and
Lavinia Wilson shine as the older versions of their characters. Original and rousing series with great settings and dialogues, which increases as it goes on That all this will not be far from reality makes it especially interesting.
Luke Loughran and Seumas F. Sargent are also very convincing!

A bit drawn out

Interesting story, but four long episodes seemed a bit too stretched out to cover what was, for most of the time, a quasi-documentary. Very little action, apart from the main characters discussing whether Google had infringed the patent.
By about E3 I was beginning to doubt whether I really cared about how it finished, but the sketchy drama was redeemed somewhat by the courtroom scenes, which were well-handled.
I didn't think this was as strong as The Social Network, but it was worth watching.

We are the bad guy of the earth! Us Americans think we are the good guys instead we are the bad guys of the story. Look at what we do in other countries! We choose the leaders in other third world countries calling it democracy. Instead we are tyrants choosing the leaders for them. This movie is an eye opener that helps reveal the dirty laundry of the CIA and the horrible thing that the U. S. Government has done around the world as per Edward Snowden has explained over and over. There are no conspiracy theories this is a reality. Reality check! Set your pride aside! This series will have you thinking about all the patents that our American companies have acquired since Edison has been around since he stole patents from Tesla. Clear throat.
Good tech web series!!
sriramthestranger10 December 2022
This is one of the finest tech web series highlighting the odds faced by 2 techies in the early internet era. Credit goes to the casting and makeup department for a terrific choice of actors before and after the incidents.
The plot is about the legal battle between Art+com and Google over patent infringement. The characters are well portrayed as a wannabe Steve Jobs entrepreneur and a naive coder who is unaware of the consequences.
This is a fictional account of the events and guess Netflix took it up only to make people aware about such a product called TerraVision, which existed before Google Earth. Good watch!!

An Honest Review
FlackoBayo14 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Spoilers Warning!
This series is ok. The reviews are overrating it.
There's a LOT of flaws in the writing.. contradictory plot lines, pointless plot lines.
Want an example? Here goes:
At some point in the 3rd episode it's revealed that the lawyers questioning 1 of the main characters are actually on his side and preparing him for deposition in America. The same lawyer then worries that the law firm he works for is spending too much money on this case.
Well sir, if that's the case why would you run your client away?
It's flawed writing with no point to it other than to force an interaction btwn the two owners but they could have done that without diminishing the intelligence level of the lawyers.
This is just one small point about how the writing is not as good as the ratings are reviewing it at. 8-10 is a really high rating for a show with such pointless flawed writing. There's better ways to do what they thought they were doing with these plot holes and writing errors.
It's a good show or a solid show. It's also NOT an 8-10 type of show.. it's somewhere btwn the 5-7 rating with an 8 being the HIGHEST it should be rated, NOT a 9 or a 10.

Extremely conventional storytelling spoils a good story!

I'm like forty minutes into the first episode and I am already bored as funk, excuse my French. I can't help but to compare it to THE SOCIAL NETWORK which is so much better on pretty much all levels (score, storytelling, exchanges between the lawyers, dialogue, voice-over, etc.)
There is just way too much explaining. We have the voice-over that chronologically explains everything, and just to make sure, even the actors do their fair amount of explaining. One example: When the two hackers/ nerds have their first meeting with the Deutsche Telekom, one of the hackers says that his fellow hackers would be ashamed of him to ask the Deutsche Telekom for money and that he hacked their network just a year ago. But at this point, it is already very clear to the viewer that the people working at and for the Deutsche Telekom are totally different from these hackers. So there is really no need for this explanation. And this is just one example. When the lawyers ask questions or interrupt their counterparts, it never feels genuine but rather like a device or tool to explain something to the supposedly dumb viewer. And I don't like being taken for a ignoramus when I'm watching a film.
So, no, I believe this is a good story, but the film itself is dull and boring.

Don't be evil ... but hell, let's take the profit anyway
kErn-vision7 October 2021
This shows how big companies profit from the innovative spirit of the people. It's about money taking advantage of those who cannot afford to bring their ideas to live by themselves. It's about sharing the perception of inequality of our modern society.
