A lot of people are trying to take credit for Soda’s vote-out on Survivor. Venus took credit just minutes after the vote. Tevin planned on taking credit later, presumably if he ever hit those Final 3 Tribal Council seats, and Liz told the camera that voting “Soda” was not only her idea, but she had been planning on voting her out from the early days on Nami. Even the elusive Survivor “monster,” wherever he, she or it may be hiding, probably wants full kudos for poor Soda’s demise.

A new deleted scene from Survivor 46, Episode 6 has been revealed. The episode featured the Merge Challenge and Moriah Gaynor getting voted out.
As Survivor fans already saw, Moriah became a sacrificial lamb from the Siga Tribe after all Yanu Tribe members earned safety.
The unbalanced teams teased a one-sided Merge Challenge, but the underdog team nearly pulled it off. If not for the puzzle prowess of Hunter McKnight, the results may have been different.
But additional footage from the episode hit the cutting room floor. If the episode had been two hours, viewers could have seen more discussions at the Merge Feast and back at camp with the losing team.
The main focus of those scenes (during the episode) was deciding who would be targeted at the upcoming Tribal Council. It was an extensive discussion, with Nami and Siga each asked to nominate someone to vote out.

The sneak peek video for “Survivor 46” Episode 2 has been released by CBS, and it’s all about Tevin Davis (watch above). The 24-year-old actor from Virginia reveals to the camera that he’s playing “a very social game” at the Nami camp and that he’s already connected with Hunter McKnight and Soda Thompson. “I feel like I’m attached to everybody,” Tevin declares before adding, “The only person that I don’t get a good vibe from is Venus [Vafa].”
In last week’s premiere, Venus was called out by Randen Montalvo for acting a bit too much like former “Survivor” winner (and current “The Traitors” contestant) Parvati Shallow, and Venus later admitted to the audience that she was indeed being “sneaky.” Will that come back around to bite her?

Two Spanish female stars who have broken out to huge global audiences in Netflix hits – “Nowhere” and “A Perfect Story” lead Anna Castillo and Ester Expósito, highly prominent in “Elite” in early seasons – are set to star in dramedic vampire thriller “Death to Love,” (“Que muera el amor”), the first series created by “Piggy” director Carlota Pereda, who will also serve as its showrunner.
“If there are two actresses you can believe are immortals, with their out-of-this-world allure and talent, it’s Anna and Ester. I can’t wait to explore this world of darkness, joy and Eternal Love with them,” Pereda told Variety.
With that talent package, and the backing of two Spanish powerhouse producers, Morena Films and Buendía Estudios, “Death to Love” is shaping up as one of the hottest packages to come to market from Spain after it emerged from February’s Berlinale Series Market as one...

Paul McCartney‘s songs draw influence from numerous things. He has written multiple songs that reference the planet Venus. During an interview, Paul told Taylor Swift how the planet inspired one of those songs. The song in question appeared on one of Paul’s No. 1 albums.
Paul McCartney told Taylor Swift that a book inspired him to write a song about Venus
In a 2020 Rolling Stone article, Paul and Swift interviewed each other. Paul explained his songwriting process. “Sometimes I’ll just be inspired by something,” he said. “I had a little book which was all about the constellations and the stars and the orbits of Venus.”
Swift revealed she knew the song in question. It was “The Kiss of Venus” from the 2020 album McCartney III. Swift must be a big fan of Paul’s if she’s listening to his solo work from the 21st century. Paul didn’t...

Upon securing a spot in the 2024 Best Supporting Actress Oscar lineup, Jodie Foster (“Nyad”) officially shattered the Academy Awards record for longest span between fourth and fifth acting nominations. Following her two Best Actress wins for “The Accused” (1989) and “The Silence of the Lambs” (1992), she had last been recognized in that category for “Nell” (1995), making for a general nomination gap of 29 years. Coincidentally, she took this particular distinction from fellow “Silence of the Lambs” winner Anthony Hopkins, who waited 22 years between his supporting bids for “Amistad” (1998) and “The Two Popes” (2020).
Previously, the female record for longest wait for a fifth nomination was 12 years, as shared by Julianne Moore and Frances McDormand. Considering gaps between any two consecutive acting nominations, Foster ranks well behind overall record holder Judd Hirsch, whose first and second career notices for “Ordinary People” (1981) and “The Fabelmans” (2023) came 42 years apart. His female counterpart is Helen Hayes (39 years...

Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley manage to inspire celebrities to this day. For several different reasons, some fans see Lana Del Rey as Priscilla’s modern equivalent. Here’s why that’s the case — and why Del Rey didn’t write a tune for the soundtrack of Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla.
Lana Del Rey wasn’t able to pen a song for ‘Priscilla’
Del Rey’s haircuts and outfits from her early career are very reminiscent of Priscilla’s style from the 1960s. On top of that, Del Rey has referenced the “Blue Suede Shoes” singer throughout her career. For example, her songs “Million Dollar Man,” “American,” and “Body Electric” all allude to Elvis or his songs, while Elvis is a character in Del Rey’s Tropico alongside Adam, Eve, Jesus Christ, and the Virgin Mary. Del Rey’s “The Greatest” also has some instrumental similarities with “Can’t Help Falling in Love.

Since the establishment of the Academy Awards in 1929, exactly 60 films have achieved lone lead male acting nominations, meaning they were each recognized in the Best Actor category and nowhere else. The last such instance occurred in 2023 and involved “Aftersun” star Paul Mescal, who, at 26, stood out as the youngest member of a lineup consisting only of first-time Oscar contenders. Although his low-budget movie had a strong shot at an original screenplay bid and was viewed as a serious Best Picture candidate, it ended up getting no love outside the acting branch.
Before Mescal was recognized, his category hadn’t seen a lone nominee since Willem Dafoe earned his first lead bid for “At Eternity’s Gate” in 2019. This was the ninth time that four or more years separated consecutive Best Actor loners, with the single largest gap having spread between Cary Grant and Clifton Webb. Such nominations appear to be becoming less common in this category,...

Exclusive: Grasshopper Film and streaming platform Documentary+ have acquired North American rights to the Oscar-shortlisted feature Apolonia, Apolonia, a deal announced as the nomination voting window opens for the 96th Academy Awards.
Grasshopper will release the film theatrically Friday at Dctv’s Firehouse Cinema in New York, “with a launch on Documentary+ following all other traditional windows,” according to a release.
The film directed by Lea Glob documents the life of French painter Apolonia Sokol over a 13-year period, examining her attempt to maintain artistic integrity in an art world — and culture — where patriarchy privileges the male gaze over the female.
Apolonia Sokol
“The result is a moving meditation on friendship, personal and creative fulfillment, and both the liberation and limitations of the female body,” the release noted. “Over the years, both Sokol and Glob see again and again that the road to artistic achievement is not an easy or...

Ryan Gosling is one of the biggest contenders for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar this year for his role as Ken in Greta Gerwig‘s smash hit “Barbie.” The Warner Bros. movie follows Margot Robbie‘s titular Barbie as she leaves Barbie Land for the real world in search of answers after suffering an existential crisis. Gosling’s performance as Ken has brought him plenty of plaudits, leading to a strong case for Best Supporting Actor in this year’s Oscars race.
However, this isn’t the first Oscars race Gosling has been in as he’s received two Academy Award nominations before. Let’s take a look back at them.
Gosling was first nominated in 2007 when he received a Best Actor notice for “Half Nelson,” which follows Gosling as a junior high school teacher with a drug habit. Gosling’s teacher forms a friendship with one of his students...

Lea Glob approaches the subject of her award-winning documentary, Apolonia, Apolonia, with a devout curiosity. Apolonia, a French painter whom the director met in 2009, is a striking figure. She is wide-eyed and brunette with bangs that stop, almost abruptly, in the middle of her forehead. She moves with an arresting ease, commanding rooms like stage actors do theater audiences. In the first scene of the film, shot in 2013, the artist flits about her tiny apartment, preparing for her 26th birthday party. She dismisses dress options like a countess among her attendants and demands attention from her friends in a similarly regal manner. Her smile, a toothy grin outlined by vivid lipstick colors, courts mischief. Her eyes inspire questions.
Who is Apolonia? Glob’s meditative doc is, initially, desperate to know. The beginning of Apolonia, Apolonia chronicles those years when Glob sheepishly assumed the role of director and the artist her subject.

Postmodern attempts at genre defiance have become de rigueur for pop artists today. In a streaming-dominated world where we can type away on our laptops to ambient hip-hop in the morning, sing along to old yacht-rock hits on our afternoon commute, and dance to Edm at night, what other way is there to keep our attention than to try to give us everything everywhere all at once? We’ve gotten a few attempts to do just that in 2023, from Kara Jackson’s quietly rebellious blending of folk and R&b, to Yves Tumor’s kitchen-sink instrumentation, to 100 gecs’s audacious and absurd hyperpop assaults.
Many of the artists who appear on this list, though, no longer seem content to just break down old barriers, as they also seek to shatter interpersonal and emotional ones as well. The oft-cited isolation of modern living, heavily exacerbated by the pandemic, has compelled some...

Three years ago, we heard that genre regular Álex de la Iglesia – whose credits include creating the HBO horror series 30 Coins – had signed a deal with Amazon Prime Video and Sony Pictures International Productions to produce a series of feature-length horror films under the banner of The Fear Collection. It was said that de la Iglesia would be directing part of the collection and the entries not directed by him would still be “made under his creative influence”. The collection has turned out to consist of de la Iglesia’s own Veneciafrenia, Jaume Balaguero’s Venus, and Paco Plaza’s La Abuela – and all three films are now available on VOD, including on Amazon’s Prime Video!
De la Iglesia, who made his feature directorial debut with Accion Mutante in 1993, directed Veneciafrenia (watch it Here) from a screenplay he wrote with Jorge Guerricaechevarría. This one explores the profound connection...

There’s a scene in Jt Mollner’s Strange Darling where Ed Begley Jr. makes breakfast. He chars sausages, unsheathes and melts a stick of yellow butter, then cracks a messload of eggs and leaves them to bubble while pouring out thick globs of pancake batter in a second pan. He layers the cakes with the eggs and encased pork meat and yet more butter before drowning the whole thing in whipped cream that promptly starts to liquefy. He places the mess in front of his wife (Barbara Hershey), who comically offsets the caloric mound by placing a single, wimpy red strawberry on top. This scene is almost certainly unintentionally illustrative of Moller’s approach to his sophomore feature: a twisty cat and mouse thriller so overstuffed with delicious elements that it’s constantly on the verge of becoming too much of a good thing.

Paul McCartney was helpless as he watched The Beatles fall apart despite his best efforts to stop the breakup. The unofficial songwriting competition between Paul and John Lennon stressed the band to the breaking point. Yet Macca couldn’t keep himself from forming a new band, and it might have saved his life. McCartney’s Wings bandmate Henry McCullough pulled a knife and drove away a person who said he wanted to kill Paul.

The legendary Peter O’Toole was born on August 2, 1932. One of the most esteemed actors of his generation, he also holds the dubious record of earning the most Best Actor Oscar nominations (eight) without a win. O’Toole’s trophy case isn’t exactly bare — he won three Golden Globe Awards from eight nominations and received an honorary Academy Award for his lengthy career.
And as younger generations begin to discover his work, his reputation has only grown over the years, particularly for his big splash on the world’s film stage for his performance in “Lawrence of Arabia,” work that is astonishing in its complexity.
Take a photo gallery tour of his career ranking his 12 best film performances from worst to best. It includes ‘Venus,’ ‘My Favorite Year,’ ‘The Stunt Man’ and more.

Roger Federer will be in London on Tuesday for a special ceremony that will honour his achievements at Wimbledon .
Roger Federer is going to be honoured a few times this year. H e was already honoured in Halle, an event which he won 10 times in his career. He will be honoured at Wimbledon as well though he didn't win the trophy 10 times there, he triumphed 8 times.
The last final he played there was against Djokovic a few years and the Serbian will have a chance to equal the number of Federer wins this year. Despite that, Wimbledon will always be synonymous with Federer. He was utterly dominant at the event for many years with many considering him the best grass player of all time.

Nick Kyrgios returned back to the tennis court, but his comeback was difficult for himself and his fans too.
As always, the Australian was able to put on a show and display moments of magic to the fans watching at the 2023 Stuttgart Open. But that wasn't enough to overcome Yibing Wu, as he lost in straight sets already in the first round .
Fans watching the match quickly noticed that Kyrgios still wasn't 100% fit, discussing whether he'll make it in time for Wimbledon. The Australian also took to social media after the match, asking his fans for patience as he was aware that it must have been 'hard to see him perform'.
One of the people that also took to Twitter was Rennae Stubbs, who had a different opinion and thought that Kyrgios didn't put enough effort into winning the match, calling him out for 'tanking'.

When Ester Expósito walked the red carpet in Cannes two years ago, she swore she’d be back.
“I was here for a brand, to show off some jewelry,” says the actress, who became a fashion trendsetter and online influencer — with 28 million followers on Instagram — after her turn as the cold, manipulative Carla Rosón Caleruega in Netflix’s Spanish teen drama hit Elite. “But when I was up there on those steps, I thought: ‘I’m going to come back soon, not with a brand with a movie.”
As good as her word, Expósito has returned to the Croisette this year as one of the stars of Lost in the Night, the new crime drama from Mexican director Amat Escalante, which premiered in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard and is being sold worldwide by The Match Factory.
Escalante seems a long way from the soapy prep school world of Elite. The Mexican helmer,...

Venus director Andrew McGee is back with another ambitious science fiction short, funding now on Kickstarter.
Though not as overtly cyberpunk as McGee’s previous short film, First Sight – which he compares to Black Mirror – explores some themes that have been core to the genre since its inception: how all-pervasive technology forces its way into human relationships, and the role played by private companies.
The synopsis reads:
After the loss of her partner, Luna is finally ready to re-enter the world of dating, turning to smart contact lenses to overcome her anxiety. But when her quest for love takes a dark turn and her vision is held for ransom, she must outsmart a mysterious hacker to save her sight... and her date night.
Kickstarter rewards include art prints, posters, T-shirts, and an art book, and the project is already £4,000 of the way towards its £15,000.

After he was originally set to headline Coachella in 2020 — before the pandemic shut that year down — Frank Ocean again returned to Indio on Sunday to headline the first weekend of this year’s star-studded music festival.
The appearance marked Ocean’s first performance in six years — since 2017’s Flow Festival in Finland.
Ocean was set to take the stage at 10:05 pm — but he’d already stirred a great deal of controversy and backlash online when it was announced that his set would not be included in YouTube’s livestream from the festival.
The video platform confirmed this on Twitter, just a few hours before he took the stage, writing, “Frank Ocean is not scheduled to appear on the Coachella livestream.” No explanation was provided.

Lamp and Dandelion were unveiled as two beloved Nineties actors after being booted off The Masked Singer in a double elimination.
On Wednesday (12 April) night’s episode of the US version of the top-secret celebrity singing contest, UFO defeated Lamp and Dandelion for a spot in the semi-finals.
To kick off the round, Dandelion sang a rendition of Muse’s 2006 song “Starlight”.
Wowed by her performance, Judge Nicole Scherzinger called her “an intergalactic rock star”.
For her final clue, Dandelion teased that she has “plenty of experience with space”, leading Scherzinger and fellow judges Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy and Robin Thicke to guess Sara Bareilles, Alicia Witt, or Zendaya were under the mask.
Lamp followed next with her performance of the 1986 song “Venus” by Bananarama.
Finalising her clue package, Lamp said: “Let me spell it out: M-a-x-i-m.”

Two all-new celebrities in disguise took on the reigning champ, Dandelion, for “Masked Singer in Space” on Wednesday’s “The Masked Singer.” After a performance of “Venus” by Bananarama, Lamp advanced to the Battle Royale where she got her lights cut off by UFO. The disguised celebrity pulled off her mask to reveal actress, director and author Melissa Joan Hart. The clues were obvious to all of the panelists except for Ken Jeong, who incorrectly guessed Oscar nominee Michelle Williams.
“This was something that I wanted to do for my kids,” Melissa told host Nick Cannon during her unmasked interview. “I wanted to overcome something. I have never sang in front of people before. It is terrifying to me! This is like overcoming a fear and, I did it, guys! I didn’t fall. I didn’t vomit.” She then confessed, “The lamp was sort of a giveaway too. Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched the Season 9, episode 9 of “The Masked Singer,” which aired April 12 on Fox.
It was “Masked Singer in Space Night,” but “The Masked Singer” could have also been celebrating “’90s Night.” That’s because the two celebrities unmasked on Wednesday’s episodes were both TV stars from that era: Melissa Joan Hart (of “Clarissa Explains It All” and “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” fame) and Alicia Witt. Hart was revealed to be Lamp, while Witt was Dandelion.
Witt had won the previous week as Dandelion, but her journey ended here. For Dandelion, panelist Ken Jeong guessed Witt right. Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg thought it was Milla Jovovich. Robin Thicke went with Sara Bareilles and Nicole Scherzinger named Zooey Deschanel.
For Lamp, McCarthy Wahlberg, Thicke and Scherzinger all got it right with Hart. Jeong went rogue with Michelle Williams.

Sony Pictures International Productions and Amazon Prime Video recently joined forces with Álex de la Iglesia on the feature film series “The Fear Collection.” It kicked off with Álex de la Iglesia‘s Veneciafrenia, and next up is Venus, hailing from Jaume Balagueró ([Rec], [Rec 2], Sleep Tight).
The second film in the anthology film series is described as a supernatural horror story that’s set in an urban survival environment with elements of modern witchery.
Venus is inspired by Hp Lovecraft’s “Dreams in the Witch House” and stars Ester Expósito, Ángela Cremonte, Magüi Mira, Fernando Valdivieso and Federico Aguado.
We’ve learned today that Venus has been rated “R” for…
“Strong bloody violence, language, and some drug use.”
You can watch the international trailer below.
Meagan wrote in her TIFF review for Bd, “Venus makes for a slick and breezy action-horror movie far more memorable for its gruesome high-octane thrills than its cosmic chills.

After leaving The Beatles, Paul McCartney had more freedom to do whatever he wanted musically. His solo career and time with Wings are filled with oddball songs that showed McCartney’s willingness to think outside the box and experiment with new sounds. One song from Wings was an intriguing choice for the singer-songwriter, and he labeled it as a “joke,” even though he enjoyed the track.

Venus and Mars is the fourth studio album released by Paul McCartney and Wings. The album had massive expectations, following up on the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Band on the Run. While it didn’t receive the same acclaim, it still reached No. 1 on the charts and featured the No. 1 single “Listen to What the Man Said”.

There are many references in Paul McCartney‘s “Let ‘Em In,” some more conscious than others. Paul often said that things subconsciously inspired him. Only later did he realize where certain ideas came from.

In his book, The Lyrics: 1956 to the Present, Paul said he thinks his and Wings’ song “Let ‘Em In” is a “stocking filler.” That’s how he thinks of some of his songs. “It’s a fun little item, but it’s not your main Christmas present,” he wrote.
Paul said he can get perfectionist about things and think, “This is just not one of my grand pieces.” Then, he’ll get a “bit down” on those songs. For instance, he remembers being very down about his song “Bip Bop.”

In a missive sent around to last year’s Oscar nominees, stars were told to “read the room” when delivering speeches at the Academy Awards this month. Translation: Get off the stage before the orchestra is forced to awkwardly play you out.
