made to shock
trashgang12 October 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Made to shock, that's my summary and that's what I have to say about it, really, if you can find a copy of it I guess that you will think, what the hell is this, were is my fast forward button. That's what I thought after 15 minutes but I thought, I will wait a bit longer and you really have to wait 30 minutes before the movie really starts. The beginning is about two goth chicks go hiking and two guys go hiking. What you will get is a mixture between Wrong Turn and the Vomit series. It's a low budget but still the effects are really good. The removal of a guy's nipple is really effective. When one shot is all about one of the goth's making a p*** then you will start to know what you will get. Vomiting on a person, eating that vomit, defecate on one's face, urinating on once face, eating of a turd, wanking full frontal,...do I need to go further, a drill going into a hand, scalping, hitting with hammers,...it's really a sick movie but watch out, some scene's are censored just with a full screen sign 'censored' mostly over one of the maddies dick. Surely not for everyone, just sit through the first 30 minutes and you are into a hell of a ride.

A Shock Film, That Isn't Really Sure What It Wants.
DarkSpotOn5 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
There was no other reason for this film to be made, instead of the shock factor. If Wrong Turn + Cannibal Holocaust + The Texas Chainsaw Massacre had a child, it would have been this film. This film is about four friends, which decide to go inside the woods, where a mental asylum used to be. Inside the woods, you have mentally insane people, walking around, and just waiting for their next victim.

==The References In Other Movies==
  • There's a mentally insane person that has a human flesh mask, pretty similar to your classic Leatherface.

  • It's a group of insane people inside of the woods. Just like the Wrong Turn family.

  • You have the first segment of the story, just these friends walking exploring. And then, in the end, the "worst of the worst occurs, just like in Cannibal Holocaust. There's a scene where the insane people push wood inside of one of the friend's rectum, and it gets out from his mouth. (Reference to Cannibal Holocaust).

Also worth mentioning. One of the friends appears to be strong and seems like she has the "balls" to go inside the woods, and then you can see her crying in the woods, in fear and shock for her life, which I think is a pretty decent message the film is trying to send off.

Ultimately, this film does have problems which i can't forget to list:
  • Most Music pieces could have been produced way better.

  • There should be more reasoning for our heroes to care about them. The only character I kinda cared for, is the chick that had balls and then cried, she kinda seemed nice.

  • All of these characters are very flat. No backstory, nothing really for you to care for any of these characters.

  • The villains are annoying as heck, with them yelling constantly random non-sense, it just drives you insane and makes the film even weirder.

  • The film is called "Animal Soup", with a title like that you'd think there would be more animal deaths, no they have the balls out of all animals they could think of, they decide to kill a white pretty cat in the end. Which just made me pissed, and killed the mood. There was no need for that scene at all.

4/10. Could have been way better.

Rated: Well...They Made A Movie That Someone Watched
hbeeinc23 July 2019
Two "blokes" go hiking and get slaughtered. At the same time a butterface and her chubby cousin also go hiking. The butterface has so many piercings in her face that fear registers as smiling and her screams sound like a horse-laugh. Oh, and butterface wears a tiny skirt with no underwear and untied Doc Martins because...hiking.

This movie is summed up in one scene: chubby cousin is taking a dump in the woods and asks butterface to find something to wipe with and...SURPRISE!...we get the exposition from a fragment of newspaper that just happens to be lying on the ground. Seriously. After she's done, one of the (I hate to call them psychos because they just kind of grunt and screech) eats the feces. They pay such little attention to detail that when the feces-eater picks up the clipping it remains unstained.

There's several "bathroom scenes" and lots of torture including an apple gag secured through the *sides* with...chain. Yay physics! Note to torture porn makers - if you're going to tie someone done don't film the obvious slack in the ropes/chains. It just looks sloppy.

There's not much atmosphere or mood beyond screaming "I'M TELLING YOU THERE'S SOMEONE OUT THERE", the stupid shrieking of the torturers and, of course, no cell phone reception. Again, when the lead woman looks and sounds like she's laughing when she should be terrified...that's a problem.

Effectively, the disgust you'll feel is with the filmmaker, not the content.

cringe inducing
marsipanunicorn30 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This movie was pure garbage. I know it was made for a specific audience that might enjoy this kind of movie, and I'll admit that not every single scene of the movie was cancer. It was funny at some points, but I had to skip practically the entire movie to get to them. I actually do like films that "take things to the extreme", but that was the only thing Animal Soup ever had going for it. When the only thing you can legitimately advertise your movie with is the fact that it's gross, it's probably not a very good movie. Even films like August Underground and A Serbian Film had at least decent acting, lightning, and the script made sense, besides being disgusting/disturbing. As for Animal Soup, it's just embarrassing. The attempts at acting made me cringe. The ways in which the women were killed were incredibly unsatisfactory and obviously fake (which might have been a weak attempt at comedy?), there wasn't an ounce of originality, in short everything about this movie was just bad. The only scene I even remotely enjoyed was when they were killing off the last girl by cutting off her face, while one of the guys jacked off while loudly reading Mein Kampf (again, probably an attempt at comedy?). This last scene is the only reason you should ever watch this movie since it's so off rails, you can skip the rest.

Plain repulsive "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" imitation.
HumanoidOfFlesh13 December 2011
Two highly unattractive goth girls and two fans of urbexing go for the camping in the woods.Unfortunately for them there are bloodthirsty cannibal hillbillies living in the boonies."Animal Soup" is a pure exploitation flick without coherent narrative. The acting ranks from hysterical to outrageously awful, location sets ooze dirt and decay and there is enough guttural bloodletting to satisfy fans of extreme horror. Some gore scenes are amateurish, but the grimy nastiness of the film is certainly quite amazing. If extreme gore, torture and vomiting is your thing "Animal Soup" may be worth checking out.As for me I'd like to see more original vision from film-makers of this sickie.6 cannibals out of 10.

sick and twisted
g-sully-906-72665728 October 2011
i just bought this film signed by one of the directors as i'd heard mixed reviews, mainly stating how sick and twisted this film was. they were right, OK so the acting isn't great but i kinda expect that from low budget movies, the music was fitting and the effects were really really good, one scene in particular involving a drill was very well done. and i recently saw a web clip showing how they did that which was cool as it was voiced by Emily Booth so to have had her blessing it definitely gets another thumbs up from me. a great cameo from Lloyd Kaufman made me chuckle, that guy is hilarious. there are some really nasty moments in the film and i wont spoil it here for anyone but i did find myself looking away which is rare. this is not a date movie but more a uni drunk night in movie. its a movie that will become notorious via word of mouth due to its graphic nature. the two guys who made this film not only did everything themselves but even acted as some very crazy characters which made me think if these guys can deliver something sick like this, who knows what they could do when money is thrown at them. i'll definitely be watching out for more from these guys
