First, the bad news: Melinda's kid is still alive and Eli is now Melinda's full-fledged partner. The good news: The ghost is a clown. Literally. Although it isn't sure why it is dressed up as a clown, so it is up to Melinda and the Hunchback of Notre Dame- err, I mean Eli -- to straighten matters out. The storyline is a bit convoluted, and the solution should surprise many. There's a subplot involving evil spirits bullying Melinda, which is really nothing new. And let's face it: this female-oriented show lacks the bite of a more male-oriented show like SUPERNATURAL. Thw clown element keeps this episode from being a snoozer.

So, we arrive at S5 E18 with a story that fully underscores why GW got cancelled. Just a few more til the end.
A dead clown who has no idea why he is dressed in that manner. Turns out he's a private eye, but can't remember what he's investigating. By the time you get to the conclusion, the plot had limped along so badly it needed crutches.
It shows all that went wrong with the series post-Season 3. Once again, Hewitt completely monopolizes the screen time. In successful ensemble series, the plots were shared with all the actors. In GW it became "The Mel and Eli Show." Ned is once again completely missing, one of the 19 omissions poor old Christoph suffered, either to save money or the writers forgot he existed.
It really is too bad how the series disintegrated from a well-written well-acted series, to become the same corpse it featured in every episode. Hewitt was responsible for sending it into the Light.

Should have sticked with Asian Lady Replacement

It was very obvious just like Science Guy got replaced by Ghost Hearing Science Guy, Unapproving Fat Lady Friend got replaced by Approving Asian Fat Lady.
I'd be interrested who changed that back and why. Asian Lady didn't like the role after all? The ratings/fan letters are to be blamed? They knew they get cancelled, so Delia decided she'll have time for a couple of more episodes but not for a full season?
My other complaint is, the show's relation to the Shadows and Glowing Ones are still unclear - now they wanna include a third non-ghost entity which not even Mutant Reincarnated Boy can sense?
This show is collapsing, collapsing fast at this point.
