Ewen MacIntosh, the Welsh actor who played the accounts department’s Keith Bishop in Ricky Gervais‘ original BBC comedy The Office, has died at the age of 50.
The news was confirmed by Gervais himself in a post on X. “Extremely sad news,” he wrote Wednesday. “The very funny and very lovely Ewen Macintosh, known to many as ‘Big Keith’ from The Office, has passed away. An absolute original. Rip.”

Who doesn’t love a creepy novel once in a while, eh? I mean, I know I do. Horror is in my blood and has been for a long, long time, and so it’s only natural that I’m a fan of horror fiction too. I’ve read it for decades, beginning with my childhood, spent reading Point Horror books with titles like The Babysitter, Trick or Treat and The Funhouse. As I’ve gotten older (and older) I’ve sought out horror books that had something unique about them, or that sounded up my alley. I tend to like horror novels with a cinematic and comic style, books that I can almost See on a screen as I read. That’s the sweet spot.
So, I thought it might be cool to highlight ten horror novels, most of them fairly recent, that you should check out if you haven’t yet.

From ‘Happytime Murders’ to ‘Team America': 12 Times Puppets Behaved Badly on Film , TV and the Stage (Photos)
The upcoming Melissa McCarthy film “The Happytime Murders” made headlines last month due to its legal skirmish with Sesame Workshop over its raunchy trailer. But the film is far from the first time that puppets have danced over the boundary of good taste. Read on for more examples of puppets behaving badly.
“The Happytime Murders.” After the trailer for this Brian Henson-directed crime comedy was released, Sesame Workshop — the people behind “Sesame Street” — filed suit, contending that the trailer, which bore the tagline “No Sesame. All Street” and features, among other things, “ejaculating puppets,” tarnishes the Sesame brand. The suit quickly came to a climax, with a judge siding with Stx.
“Team America: World Police”: When the puppets in this 2004 Trey Parker/Matt Stone offering weren’t busy bungling their way to preserving America’s freedom,...

Remember Kinvig, Clone, Not With A Bang? These are the UK sci-fi sitcoms you’re unlikely to see on comedy best-of lists…
With E4 sci-fi comedy commissions, Tripped and Aliens, and in-development Channel 4 projects, Space Ark and Graham Linehan/Adam Buxton collaboration The Cloud, in the works, a new crop of sci-fi sitcom could be making its way to UK TV.
Making funny sci-fi on a small-screen budget is tough enough without the additional pressure of having to attract viewers more traditionally down-to-earth in their sitcom tastes. Sci-fi sets and effects can be seen as prohibitively expensive by comedy commissioners (which is perhaps why the best UK sci-fi sitcoms of recent years has been on BBC Radio), and the genre’s niche status doesn’t scream mainstream hit. Over the years, one or two stand-outs have managed to straddle the sci-fi and comedy TV worlds, but plenty more have stumbled in the attempt.

Nick Frost goes salsa dancing in the new comedy Cuban Fury. Here's what we thought of it...
This time last year, the big Valentine's date movie was A Good Day To Die Hard. Next year, it's Fifty Shades Of Grey. Cuban Fury, therefore - which is this year's - feels like something of a blessing.
The film centres on Nick Frost (who also executive produces). He plays Bruce, a man who used to live for salsa, until he was beaten up as a young boy for wearing too many sequins. His dreary routine is forced to change step, though, when a beautiful new boss arrives at his office: Julia (Rashida Jones). She loves to salsa too. And so Bruce decides to put his dancing shoes back on and shimmy his way into her heart. The only thing in his way? Drew, his pervy male co-worker,...

Here’s what happened when we went to the swanky Game of Thrones season 3 UK premiere and chatted to a few of the cast members…
Spoiler-warning: The bit with Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth) contains brief, oblique reference to some of her season three scenes. Non-a Song of Ice and Fire readers may wish to skip it.
Even in absence, Dame Diana Rigg has the sovereign presence to make people sit up straight and behave themselves. At the mere mention of her name, Finn Jones, the young actor who plays her on-screen grandson Ser Loras Tyrell in Game of Thrones, segues from swagger to awe, following up his description of the Tyrell family in season three as “hot badass b*tches who are going to f**k s**t up” to an earnest list of “amazing”, “wonderful”, “classic legend”, and “such a privilege”. Good...

After re-watching Bridesmaids on TV the other day, I couldn’t help but wonder just when Chris O’Dowd would become a household name. It’s bound to happen in the very near future, as he has several new projects lined up — one even being a salsa dance comedy opposite Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Attack the Block).
The Sun (via ThePlaylist) has informed us that project is named Cuban Fury, with Frost playing “a former teen dance prodigy who attempts a comeback years after a rival (O’Dowd) ruined his career. Jon Brown, an up-and-coming British scribe, has written the script, which will mark his feature length debut. As if this project doesn’t sound funny enough, it’s being set up at Big Talk Productions, which brought us some great comedies including, Scott Pilgrim and the aforementioned Dead, Fuzz, and Block.

Mongrels creator Adam Miller has announced via Twitter that the BBC3 comedy puppet show will not be returning for a third season, after disappointing viewing figures spelled an end to the show’s run on the channel.
Slightly earlier, Mongrels voice-actor Dan Tetsell had used his own account to announce that BBC3 controller Zai Bennett had let the axe drop on the show. The actor, who plays Marion the cat – broke the news with the following tease:
“If you were (like me) hoping Mongrels would get a 3rd series, I’ve got some bad news…”
When asked whether the show has indeed been canned, Tetsell didn’t pull any punched with his reply: “Yeah, we’ve all been sacked now.”
Miller then posted the following message this afternoon…

Mongrels star Dan Tetsell has announced that the series has been axed. The puppet comedy, created by Adam Miller, began on BBC Three in 2010 and recently concluded its second run. Voice actor Tetsell - who plays idiotic cat Marion - broke the news of the show's cancellation on Twitter. "If you were (like me) hoping Mongrels would get a 3rd series, I've got some bad news..." he wrote. When a fan enquired if he was being serious, Tetsell replied: "Yeah, we've all been sacked now." In August 2010, Tetsell also broke the news of Mongrels being picked up for a second series. (more)...

A quick heads up for all our readers in the UK, who have yet to catch BBC3’s latest oddball, adult puppet comedy ‘Mongrels.’ Having caught the first two episodes yesterday we’d highly recommend you give it a watch as it is just f**king hilarious. Written by Jon Brown and Daniel Peak, Mongrels - which we can only describe as a darkly twisted 'The Muppets' meets 'South Park' - follows the exploits of a unlikely group of animal friends Nelson, a “metro”sexual fox; Destiny, a pretentious pedigree 'it-bitch'; Kali, a deeply cynical pigeon; Marion, an abandoned tom cat; and Vince, a foul mouthed and streetwise fox.
