Warning: Spoilers ahead for “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”
Miles Morales’ journey in “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” takes him into a world filled with Spider-Men from across the superhero’s long history of comics, movies and other media. This means that there were plenty of surprise cameos for hardcore fans, including one by none other than Donald Glover.
Costume designer Trayce Gigi Field showed off an Instagram picture of her with Glover dressed in the full costume she designed for his appearance as a version of Aaron Davis, Miles’ uncle and reluctant supervillain nemesis The Prowler.
“Building the Prowler supersuit with the help of the amazing Vanessa Mi Kyung Lee was the coolest,” wrote Field in the caption to the photo. “Side note, I worked with Donald Glover many years ago on a film called ‘The To Do List’ — he is every bit as sweet as I remembered.”

Bill Hader may be a comedian, but he certainly seems to take his personal life quite seriously. The "Barry" actor was married to filmmaker Maggie Carey for 11 years before they ultimately split in 2017. While Hader has since gotten back in the dating game, he previously opened up to Variety about how his career has affected his family life.
"When I was on 'SNL,' I was a bit of a basket case," he explained of his time on the late-night comedy sketch show. "It could not have been easy on my wife at the time. I was so consumed with work and anxiety." Of welcoming their two eldest daughters, Hannah and Harper, Hader added, "Once our second child was born, I had to leave 'SNL.' It was hard with one kid, let alone two. Because I was just never around."

Rachel Bilson didn’t hold back when discussing her romance with Bill Hader in a recent interview.
The “O.C.” actress and Hader were first romantically linked in 2019, before calling it quits in summer 2020 after making their red carpet debut together at the Golden Globes earlier that year.
Bilson spoke about the breakup on the latest episode of her “Broad Ideas” podcast, with guest Tommy Dorfman asking: “When you and Bill broke up what did you miss the most?” Us Weekly reported.
Bilson jokingly replied, “His big d**k,” adding: “We can keep that. … And cut, let’s move on.”
The star, who shares 7-year-old daughter Briar Rose with ex Hayden Christensen, previously told her podcast guest Mandy Moore that she’d been through a “really hard breakup” during the pandemic.

As it turns out, Bill Hader just wasn't Rachel Bilson's destiny. Though the O.C. actress has never been one to publicize details about her love life, she recently addressed her past relationship with the Saturday Night Live alum during a discussion about their 2013 movie, The To Do List. While speaking with the rom-com's lead, Aubrey Plaza, on the June 13 episode of her Broad Ideas podcast, Rachel, 40, confirmed that she and Bill, 44, dated "two years ago." As a testament to how tight-lipped the former couple had been about the romance, the news was a revelation for Aubrey. "Are you serious?" the Parks and Recreation star asked. "I don't know s--t. I...

Aubrey Plaza is set to star in the Hulu drama pilot “Olga Dies Dreaming,” Variety has learned.
The show was ordered to pilot at the streamer back in April. It tells the story of a Nuyorican brother and sister (Plaza) from a gentrifying Sunset Park, Brooklyn, reckoning with the absent, politically radical mother and their glittering careers among New York City’s elite in the wake of Hurricane Maria.
Plaza will star in the title role as Olga, a renowned wedding planner whose surface successes mask a darker interior. For Olga, the pursuit of perfection has become a compulsive survival mechanism as she tries to climb as far from her past as she can. Still, she can’t shake the feeling that the important people she knows don’t see her as their equals and this nagging sense that her success is an illusion always leaves her wanting more.

Over a decade ago, writer Ayn Carrillo-Gailey embarked on a quest to prove an ex-boyfriend wrong. She rolled out a list of lusty to-dos to show that she was not, as he had pronounced her to be, “pornphobic.” The result was the amusing (and enlightening) memoir “Pornology,” which has now spawned its own sanitized, if sweet rom-com movie adaptation. It’s a cute idea for a movie, the kind that follows a charming lead as they stumble their way into physical pleasure and other forms of personal enlightenment.
Filmmaking brothers Chris and Nick Riedell might not be breaking any new ground with their “A Nice Girl Like You,” but the duo at least had the foresight to cast Lucy Hale as Carrillo-Gailey’s movie stand-in, a straight-laced classical violinist who isn’t so much afraid of sex as she is unsure of how to make it work for her. Even though she’s widely considered to be the Queen of Dry Wit, sitting in the hotel room where we’re about to talk about her latest film Ingrid Goes West, there’s an unexpected innocence to Aubrey Plaza that makes her seem more like Sandy from Grease before the makeover. She’s wearing a dark baseball jacket over a lovely plaid dress in blush tones, and rather than welcoming me with a raised eyebrow, she smiles. I reach out my hand to her to say hello and apologize because it’s cold, she raises the eyebrow and explains, “I’m sorry too because my hand is warm.” And suddenly Sandy has given path to the sardonic Rizzo. Since her breakthrough in Parks & Recreation, Plaza has become one of the funniest people in the industry. Period. Few actors can accomplish so much using so little and making it seem so effortless,...

Now star of The Good Fight, the CBS All Access spinoff of The Good Wife, Sarah Steele is finally playing her own age onscreen.
The actress, who made her film debut as Bernice, the awkward-but-cute preteen in 2004’s Spanglish, has had an extended onscreen life as a teenager, playing Jenny Humphrey’s rival on two episodes of Gossip Girl, the teenage daughter to Catherine Keener in the dark comedy Please Give and, in 2013, a recent high school graduate in The To Do List. In Speech & Debate, the film adaptation of Stephen Karam’s Off-Broadway play opening in select theaters and on demand April 7 and is available exclusively on iTunes April 2, she returns to high school as a Rachel Berry-like student with dreams of becoming a star.

Inspired by “true” events, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates is a screwball comedy with the potential to edge towards a smarter farce. More favorable than a certain Adam Sandler Hawaiian vacation comedy, if at times no less offensive, the film delivers a few big laughs even if a few notes fall flat along the way. Operating at full throttle, web short and TV vet Jake Szymanski lets the inmates run the asylum while allowing Aubrey Plaza to break out of her shell; here she’s shed that awkwardness thanks to weed and booze.
The plot is as direct as can be. Dave (Zac Efron) and Mike Stangle (Adam DeVine) have ruined many a family affair with well-intentioned but disruptive antics and are given an ultimatum: their mom (Stephanie Faracy) and dad (Stephen Root) tell them to find nice, respectable girls to bring to their sister Jeanie’s (Sugar Lyn Beard) wedding or stay home.

Summer’s in full swing with big family gatherings and social events. It’s the perfect time for some raunchy laughs at the multiplex. Eleven years ago (no, really!) R-rated movie comedies made a big, big comeback when Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson were Wedding Crashers. Four years later, the lead up to nuptials ignited a comic trilogy with The Hangover. Then the ladies got in on the act just two years later with Bridesmaids. This weekend’s new flick doles out a bit from all those entrees in the funny flick buffet, expanding on a comedy staple (or main course in the food analogy), namely the comic team. This doesn’t quite harken back to Stan and Ollie or Bud and Lou, rather the inspiration may be a bit over twenty years ago to Harry and Lloyd, those Dumb & Dumber dudes, continuing through Harold and Kumar, on to various unions of Rogen,...

The title may be a mouthful, but the upcoming comedy Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates is putting together one hell of a cast full of talented young actors. Hollywood is pretty good at keeping secrets, but who knew some stars were this good? Between the paparazzi and baby bumps, it’s pretty tough to keep a celeb pregnancy completely under wraps, yet some couples managed to do just that in 2014.
Here are the five bundles of joy that we didn’t see coming -- and one that we sort of did but, you know, not for sure.

One of the major movie star clichés, right along with “What I really want to do is direct” is the wail of the comedy star, “I want to show that I’m a serious actor”. Through the years many actors first known for generating laughs have attempted to stretch, to show another facet, by taking dramatic roles, often with mixed results. For every Jerry Lewis in The King Of Comedy, there’s an Adam Sandler in Reign Over Me. But sometimes the gamble really pays off with gold…Oscar gold. One of the biggest surprises in Academy history was the Best Actor win by Art Carney (then best known as one of the greatest sidekicks in sitcom history as Ed Norton in “The Honeymooners”) way back in 1974 for Harry And Tonto which may have paved the way for the Best Supporting Actor win by Robin Williams for 1997′s Good Will Hunting.

If Mark Gordon's name isn't familiar, his filmography will be. The producer's diverse 20-year includes "The To Do List," "Rampart," "Source Code," "The Day After Tomorrow," "Wonder Boys," "A Simple Plan," and "Speed." He earned an Oscar nomination in 1999 for "Saving Private Ryan." After reigning supreme on Saturday Night Live for seven years, Kristen Wiig made her voice in film loudly and rightly known in 2011 with Bridesmaids, which she starred in and cowrote with Annie Mumolo. Punching giant cookies, wooing Irish cops and forcing her friends to defecate in sinks at bridal salons set her up as an invaluable asset to a host of comedies and dramedies in the years since, like Friends with Kids, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Girl Most Likely. Meanwhile, Bill Hader, probably one of the greatest talents from the SNL stage, has always had a healthy career as a bit player in comedies. While he hasn’t had a vehicle like Bridesmaids yet to largely showcase his worth, he’s been the supportive wing man, henchman, insert-assistant-title-here, delivering the best lines and effectively stealing the show in everything from Superbad to The To Do List. But his side-character status might be changing to...

It looks like Chris Pratt will have some competition for the title of Most Delightful Person in "Jurassic World": Judy Greer has just joined the high-profile sequel's ensemble.
Greer is part of a trio of actresses that just signed on to the fourth installment of the "Jurassic Park" franchise. Katie McGrath (NBC's "Dracula") and Lauren Lapkus ("The To Do List," "Orange is the New Black") round out the newest additions to the cast.
The affable Greer, known mostly for her roles in rom-coms, has been undergoing a bit of a career reinvention as of late, playing parts in a wider variety of genres including prestige dramas ("The Descendants") and now sci-fi flicks (in addition to "World," she'll also appear in this summer's "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" and the mysterious George Clooney-Brad Bird vehicle "Tomorrowland").

Brandy Klark (Plaza) is an intellectually successful but socially inept student at an Idaho high school in 1993. This differentiates her starkly from her popular sister Amber (Bilson), who mocks Brandy for still being a virgin. Brandy protests that she almost slept with an older guy named Rusty (Scott Porter) once, but quickly realises that she will have to obtain greater experience soon or face further ridicule. She duly sets out to seduce Rusty by taking a job as a lifeguard at the pool where he works but faces several obstacles along the way. Can her fellow socially awkward friend Cameron (Simmons) help her out?

Coming of age films and comedies about sex have become a staple of 21st Century cinema, and with The To Do List set to be released on February 3rd, we thought now would be a good time to look back at some of the best movies to fall within this category.
The To Do List – which stars Aubrey Plaza, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Rachel Bilson – focuses an Idaho school in 1993 and one girl’s determination to woo, seduce and biblically know her high school crush before College begins. In an interview with IFC debut director Maggie Carey puts it best, ‘People kept calling it a romantic comedy…But this is not romantic! This is a comedy comedy, not a romantic comedy. Don’t get me wrong. I love romantic comedies, but that’s not what this is. Brandy is stereotypically male…treating sex like she’s studying for a test.”

The To Do list in this week's New York Magazine directed New Yorkers to the latest solo exhibition of photographer Jackie Nickerson. Her latest series is called "Terrain." The photos, taken all over Africa, show the basic task of gathering food. Where they diverge from ethnology, though, is in the poses — bodies support giant sacks, masses of vegetables or leaves, a Terry Gilliam tangle of vines. We simultaneously see people as people, as beasts of burden, and as sculpture. Click through this slideshow for a sample of her striking work, and then see the show at Chelsea's Jack Shaiman Gallery through February 15.

There’s a certain kind of oddball film that seems like it could only have its coming-out party at a place like Sundance. Marjane Satrapi’s dark serial killer comedy The Voices is one of those films. The best way I can think to describe it is: imagine Fight Club if Brad Pitt’s part was played by a talking dog and cat.
Tyler Durden comparisons aside, Satrapi, the Iranian director of 2007′s Persepolis, has created a totally unique, genre-defying film. Which isn’t to say The Voices is great. Far from it. It’s wildly uneven and it never...

Recent films about women's sexuality like The To Do List and For a Good Time, Call . . . have grounded their characters' sexploits with subplots about female friendship. But the quietly trailblazing Sweet Talk eschews such niceties, even to the point of neglecting character development. Instead, this extended erotic fantasy is single-minded in its exploration of what phone sex geared toward women's pleasure might look like.

They’re rivaling Criterion and Scream Factory as studios for which every release truly matters. Their latest is a collection of four early films from the legendary Vivien Leigh, an actress best-known for “Gone with the Wind” and a true Hollywood icon.

Moviefone's Top DVD of the Week:
"The World's End"
What's It About? The third installment of Edgar Wright's Cornetto Trilogy, following 2004's "Shaun of the Dead" and 2007's "Hot Fuzz," "The World's End" features a group of five reuniting friends. They embark on an epic drinking marathon in an effort to top their pub crawl from 20 years prior, only this time an unexpected alien invasion strikes.
Why We're In: A refreshing blend of comedy and sci-fi, "The World's End" is the perfectly charming film to spoof the apocalypse genre and keep you endlessly entertained. Plus, it features hilarious (as always) performances from Wright staples Nick Frost and Simon Pegg.
