Someone Please Pay Eddie's Back Pain Therapy for Carrying This Episode On His Back
asatasiman13 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Let's get the negative out of the way.

NEGATIVE:

  • The mess that is Buck and Taylor's relationship. Even if they want to go with "An insecure and lonely girl who wants to be seen as a strong woman," Taylor's writing is off. She has no friend despite being work-driven in a field that requires networking? She says "I'm not sure if I really need to know that(the cheating)" despite putting emphasis on the truth being everything 5-6 episodes ago? Buck not telling the complete truth about the girl he kissed at the bar? Are they really trying to keep this relationship, which is almost devoid of proper communication and understanding between the two, so that they can have a cheap and overused love triangle drama between Buck, Taylor, and Lucy? Way to make the "flirting and poking" comment Kristen, Arielle, and Oliver seem to be excited about during their interviews even more gross. Oh, and I've seen fandom's analysis about it but general audience who don't like this story don't have that patience to analyze and wait.

  • Lucy and Jonah haven't warmed up to me as people I want to care for. Lucy chiming in during paramedics' discussion, being awkward with Buck, and commenting about Chimney's height feel unnecessary, and I don't think that's the moment with the 118 Arielle's talking about because they don't excite me. That spider emergency having the patient suddenly having cardiac arrest and Jonah solving the problem quicker than Hen makes me suspicious of him instead. I know it's too early to judge, but the effort is still lacking.

  • A lot of things that can be an interesting plot point happens offscreen. Offscreen Maddie and Chimney breakup. Offscreen Eddie apologizing to Bobby. Offscreen Chimney and Buck talking about the punch. Instead we're stuck with a character that serves minimal plot importance (Lucy and Jonah) and the painfully dull Buck and Taylor's drama.

Now let's go with the good things.

POSITIVE:

  • Eddie's storyline. Eddie's trigger to the breakdown being the comrades he pulled out during the helicopter crash all dead is unexpectedly heartbreaking. The teased breakdown is awesome, sad, and surprisingly deep (poor Christopher). Eddie finally starts opening up to someone after being defensive during his session with Frank. This storyline looks more properly written and thought-out. Ryan, Oliver, and Gavin did AMAZING in that scene despite only having 3 minutes of screentime.

  • Maddie finally confronting her fear. The offscreen breakup sucks especially after an episode dedicated to them, but Maddie does need to confront her issue alone, and it's a short callback to what happens with the Doug situation, Maddie approaching the bathtub doing which is something similar she did after what happened with Doug. Her talk with Albert is refreshing. Chimney finding Madding giving bath to Jee is heartwarming.

  • That scene of Chimney visiting 118. It's great to see the banter between him, Bobby, Hen, and Ravi and the talk about fish is kinda funny I have to admit.

  • Gas n Sip Ruth making comeback is a delightful surprise.

Final thought: It's unfortunate that they have to mix the positives with what I personally hate. However, I refuse to give bad rating because that breakdown scene doesn't deserve to be dragged down by the ugly parts of the episode.

I WANT MORE PROPER STORY FOR EDDIE, CHIMNEY, HEN AND RAVI. STOP WITH OVERUSED AND CHEAP DRAMA THAT IS LOVE TRIANGLE. STOP ADDING MORE PEOPLE WHEN YOU STRUGGLE JUGGLING CHARACTERS' SCREENTIME AS IT IS.

It's still a big mess
itisiabanana12 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
They really tried in their 5b promotion to push the idea that the show was back to its former glory and felt like the 9-1-1 of old, but that is simply absolutely untrue.

I rate this episode 7 starts instead of 1 only for Eddie's story. It's such an important topic, and it deserves much, much more screen time than they're giving it. Ryan and Gavin continue to give amazing performances and are the only reason I'm sticking it out this long, constantly hoping for better.

Buck, a fan favorite, has been decimated in these last few episodes. Whatever Kristen Reidel is doing needs to be stopped. Tim Minear needs to take over or hire someone else or put his foot down more. I don't know. I just know as it stands? This is BAD. Buck has been turned from a loving, loyal, good man into a lying, selfish cheater. He hasn't learned anything from is cheating and lying as he has continued to lie in this episode.

Fans want to see the moments between their favorite MAIN characters. We want that apology scene between Eddie and Bobby. And between Chimney and Buck. We want that conversation with Christopher about the will. I don't care what Kristen imagined in her head. I want to see it on my screen. I want those scenes, not more irritating new characters constantly thrown in our faces.

Lucy Donato. What a HUGE mistake and letdown of a character. Her introduction did her absolutely no favors, and in this episode, the disappointment continues. Her jab at Chimney was uncalled for. Her commentary on calls was irritating to the extreme. The fact that her character will mostly revolve around Buck is gross. If they continue flirting through the season as stated in interviews while Buck is still with Taylor? Disgusting. And if they don't, she's still pointless.

Buck is the most connected to all of the other characters of anyone on this show. He gets far more screen time and connection than the others do already. WHY do we need a whole new character to show us anything about him? Explore the existing relationships that he has. It's enough and far more meaningful. But better yet, give some more significant damn time to Eddie and give him some connections outside of Buck.

This show is a mess. If Lucy is still around at the end of the season and Buck's character isn't somehow redeemed, I'm done.

Quickly declining quality
lanamichelle-112 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Eddie's storyline is the only reason to continue to tune in. Give him and Christopher more time instead of Taylor or Lucy. Ryan's scenes and acting are the only reason I am giving this episode a semi-decent rating.

The rest is a dumpster fire at this point. Buck's stories are soapy and boring. The acting in the scenes with Buck and Taylor is abysmal and there is far too much time spent on them.

And who honestly cares about Lucy Donato and seeing her and Buck "bond" or "poke" or "flirt"? Boring, gross, unnecessary. There are much better things to spend valuable screen time on. Like Eddie and Buck's conversation at the end that was abruptly cut off after the already short scene was shoved in at the end.

9 star just for the last scene
idontbelieveinmagic12 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
My vote it's all for Ryan's acting in the last scene... outstanding, heartbreaking, the best part of the whole episode which deserves to have better grades than the havoc of some of the 5A.

I loved that moment so much, Eddie's pain, the way Christopher was so scared for his dad, Buck trying to help them both and then Eddie that only trusts Buck to open up with his fears. .. I hope the next episode will delve further into their dynamic because it's always one of the best things about the show. I refuse to believe it's "coincidences" that every time Buck and Eddie drift apart, bad things happens ... the choices were made by writers, they created this special, unique family that need to be together, Buck and Eddie are partners in every sense and trying to force a new love interest, just because the showrunners are scared to do the last logical step (Buddie canon), it will always fail miserably.

Otherwise the episode was better than 5x11, I loved the reunions between Hen and Chimney and Buck and Maddie, but I hate all the Buck / Taylor / Lucy mess and I was hoping that BT would break up eventually.

I don't like either that every pivotal moments seem to be resolved offscreen: Maddie and Chimney breakup, Eddie apologizing to Bobby, Chimney and Buck talking and it's not the first time, so why? If time it's the problem, the easy solution is to stop bringing new useless characters for the sole purpose to create drama. Lucy hasn't really brought anything to the plot so far, Ravi, who everyone loves, could have been Buck's temporary partner, so she's just here to recreate a soap opera, and that's clearly not what the audience want from a show like 9-1-1.

If and when the writers understand how important it is to focus on the relationships between the main characters, how beautiful and strong their bonds are, every week we would have masterpiece episodes like the first seasons.

Two words: Ryan Guzman
sarahlee-4683212 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I love this show, I really really do but just like everyone else: I struggled to get through this season. With Maddie and Chim being back, I hoped it could return back to normal but even with their presence in this episode, there's still something so... lacking. We enjoy these characters and love them dearly, but we also love the emergencies, the dramatic storylines, the excitement of not knowing wether something is gonna survive or not. An episode centred around fears & phobias and the best you could do is a faux shark and some spiders? The one with the woman who couldn't feel fear (which is a real thing btw) could've been interesting but they didn't take it there! It ended abruptly and with no follow up. And oh god the the lazy writing: Making Chim apologise to Buck offscreen, Not showing us Buck comforting Eddie? What's the point of these heavy hitting (no pun intended) scenes and storylines if you aren't going to utilise them to their full extent?! (+ I did enjoy Chim's interactions with Hen and Ravi, more of that please! And more of Albert and Ravi in general)

Okay now that the rant is over, the best part of this episode is of course; Eddie and Ryan Guzman's performance. 5x11 showed us clearly that Eddie could really carry an episode from being absolutely dreadful to somewhat redeemable. Seeing how well this breakdown has been building up, referencing Eddie Begins and addressing so much of what was left unacknowledged? INCREDIBLE. I don't usually cry with tv shows, but the delivery of "They're all dead. Everyone I saved is dead" was heart wrenching, it moved me to tears. It's what made me feel so connected to this episode & look at it fondly. It's actually pretty upsetting how Eddie's big storyline is kinda wedged in to such a horrendous season, I hate how overlooked it is due to that.

Ryan's scenes saved it, they need to give us more Eddie in therapy/opening up because Ryan is nailing it
tnic612 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Ryan's acting in all the Eddie scenes were incredible and really the main savior of the episode. I wish they'd prioritized his arc over this truly terribly written Buck/Lucy/Taylor drama that no one wanted and no one cares about. Eddie's whole spiral has been so well done this season and I'm hoping they really give him time on screen to appreciate it instead of sticking it in the last two minutes of each episode to keep us dragging along for the boring love triangle nonsense. I know they want us to forget about the promised fun 'poking' and 'flirting' and sexual tension that will resolve in the finale (per Kristen and Arielle), but knowing that BT didn't break up and there's flirting on the horizon I'm so not looking forward to whatever they're trying to make happen with Buck/Taylor/Lucy. Honestly they had a great chance to introduce a loved and awesome character with Lucy but they've fumbled so badly so far that I'm not as excited as I was originally. I'm mostly just ready to see her go, which sucks because of her potential.

The episode started to get back to the old 911 vives of fast paced rescues and I think that's helping them get back to what worked for the show, but it's still off balance with too much fluff for rescues and not enough devoted to conflict resolution. I can't understand why they keep introducing points of conflict (the will, the punch, Eddie yelling at Bobby) only to solve it off screen and mention it in a throwaway line that's easily missed. If you can't resolve the conflict you write, you probably shouldn't write it. Seeing Bobby and Eddie talk, or Chimney making amends would have been a thousand times better than the awkward dance of Buck and Lucy, or the character regression of Buck being a complete tool to Taylor. It's incredible how they've nuked her character this season, and I wasn't even a Taylor fan in the beginning but now I'm just sad for her.

Ryan Guzman's Acting is Incredible
kmt03010-476-25686413 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode definitely had some issues, I really think they should have spent more time on Eddie and honestly no time on Lucy and Jonah. I don't see what those two add to the show especially since Chim is back and Eddie will most likely be back by the end of the season. Nothing about Lucy and Jonah has really intrigued me and I hope their screen time lessens in future episodes. I also absolutely hate the whole Buck/Taylor storyline. Just end the relationship already. It just eats up screentime and I couldn't care less about Taylor Kelly. They completely changed her character and their relationship is so boring. Also breaking up Chimney and Maddie upsets me but they clearly still love each other so I'm going to hold out hope that they will get back together.

I feel like they should have spent more time on Eddie because there was not much build up to the absolutely incredible end scenes. They could have shown why Eddie finally decided to go to therapy when he was super anti getting help, they could have shown Eddie having his break down, they could have shown how Buck comforted him enough to get him out of his trashed room, and they could have ended the episode much better instead of just suddenly in the middle of their conversation.

The reason I gave this episode 9 stars is because of the last scenes and Ryan Guzman's performance. I absolutely love that the writers are actually having him confront his trauma and hopefully start the process to heal from it. I think it is very important for shows to focus on mental health as so many people deal with it everyday. I love that Buck was able to be there for both Chris and Eddie. He really feels like Christopher's dad, as he treats him exactly like Eddie does and I think that is so important. And to see Eddie finally stop repressing his feelings and actually trust Buck enough to let him see him when he is vulnerable is so important for his development. Ryan's performance in those scenes was so incredible and I cannot wait to see what he does next.

The only stars this episode will get are because of Eddie and Ryan's acting
stillnotyourbusiness12 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Let's start with the good, because Ryan did a terribly good job in that final scene and his arc is the only thing that's looking good this season. It's been building for the last 3 years and you can see that he understands his character very well and wants to do him justice.

The rest well... it just continues to be bad, the emergencies were boring and such a let down.

Maddie and Chimney coming back was cute, but I honestly don't understand why the writers are obsessed with doing things out of our screens. It doesn't make sense that they broke up and we knew just by a single sentence, the same way the solved Buck and Chimney's issue and we didn't even see an apology. At this point we'll have to assume/imagine half of the show.

Buck's drama is worse than a telenovela, and the acting on their fighting scene was just horrible, so uncomfortable to watch. They always acted as if Taylor was a badass woman that fought for what she wanted and she literally didn't care about being cheated on, it's so out of character and they always write women from misogynistic pov, it's tiring. I don't know why they keep prolonging this.

Lucy and Jonah bring absolutely nothing to the show, other than being boring and thinking they are someone. Who does Lucy think she is to talk about Chimney's height? Can they stop bringing unnecessary people who are badly written. I mean, I still don't understand what was the purpose of Albert and it's been almost three seasons.

I thought once Chimney and Maddie were back we may start seeing the old show back, but sadly it hasn't happened yet. At this point it looks like this season may not be savable at all. The only way would be if they made the whole show about Eddie and Chris, because those two are the only ones who kill every single storyline they are a part of.

i hope this gets better...
newcarlisle12 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Funnily enough, Eddie's breakdown was the highlight of this episode. The acting was wonderful, although I do wish we saw more of buck comforting him.

About everything else.... Buck & Taylor's scenes are so painful to watch, and I'm still confused as to why they're still choosing to stay together. Lazy writing I guess.

The Chimney & Maddie breakup was unnecessary. Sure, it could be a compelling arc for the both of them if done well, but I think we all know the writing staff isn't talented enough for that.

I am also displeased with how the writers glossed over Chimney punching buck. I also hate everything to do with lucy & her character, so let's just hope the writers actually do something with her to finish out this season.

The calls sure were something.... I'm so confused as to why we needed to see a full backstory of a man getting bitten by spiders. The woman about to jump off construction site (or whatever it is) all that compelling to me. The part I liked about it was how it led into Hen's monologue that preludes Eddie's breakdown.

I really wanted to enjoy this episode more then I did.

what are these reviewers on this ep ate
bruhnuts12 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Eddie breakdown absolutely OUTSOLDDDD, this storyline makes me anticipate the next episode and it's so exciting. I'm so happy the show went with it and especially happy that buck gets to be a part of his healing. The scenes at the end were even more emotional and captivating than I hoped they would be, and my expectations were already high. AND THEYRE TALKING ABOUT THE SHOOTING LATER ON?? BLESS. IVE DREAMT ABOUT DAYS LIKE THIS.

Even though madney broke up, maddie and chimney are still clearly in love as ever, they just have stuff to work through and I think it's a sensible storyline and I don't mind it.

I feel like Taylor under-reacted when buck told her about cheating based on her character's actions in the past. She's obviously in a tough spot, but it seemed like she forgave easier than I'd imagine. His confession scene with her was good tho and the "I don't have anywhere else to go, you made sure of that" LIKE I LOVE THE DRAMATICS. I sense that there's going to be another conflict because buck didn't tell her the kiss was with Lucy specifically. And tbh I hope that's the last straw! I'm over Taylor and Lucy. I don't mind that bucktaylor didn't end this episode because I think buck needs to be the one to choose to be out of a relationship to find his independence and figure out what he wants before he can be back in one (ideally with eddie because that's the most sensible and exciting option, they have so much chemistry and are closer with each other than they ever were with their gfs).

Anyways this episode absolutely ate. The emergencies were fun, loved the hen w chim and maddie w buck reunions, the little interactions between each other, Albert existing, but especially eddies build up to the breakdown with him listening to the jumper on the call, the breakdown itself??, and buck talking to him after. Acting was amazing.

I rambled but only complaints are too much taylor Lucy and jonah screen time that should go to ogs and ravi, and eddies breakdown wasn't long enough. It was the best part of the episode, but I would've liked to see how buck calmed him down and just more than the 10 min he got for the main section.

High highs and low lows for 5x13
foxinredsox16 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I feel like this episode was a mixed bag. It had high highs and low lows, but I do think the highs for the most part outdid the lows. That being said, I do think the showrunners and writers need to take a good, hard look at what didn't work here, because this episode had the ingredients to be a perfect 10 and they really dropped the ball in some areas.

First of all, I loved everything about Eddie's storyline in this episode. Ryan Guzman KILLED it and you could tell he really gave himself over to the breakdown scene. You can't beat Eddie, Buck and Christopher scenes, and my only complaint about it was that we didn't get more. The end of the scene felt very abrupt, but it sounds like we're getting a continuation of their conversation in 5x14 and I really look forward to Buck helping Eddie in his journey to recovery. I also really loved the storyline of Maddie conquering her fear of giving Jee a bath, and the scene at the end of Chimney watching them was really sweet. I really wish we would've gotten to see the break-up on-screen (or at least hints of it in Boston), but we all know they're going to get back together eventually, so I'm not too pressed about it.

I did feel like the emergencies were lacking in this episode though. They all went on way too long, and I think there's room for improvement with the pacing. I also still continue to be perplexed at the assassination of Buck's character. You can say this is "character development" all you want, but there's no reason to have him continue to lie to Taylor by omission about who he kissed! The cheating was already bad enough, and I hate being put in a position to sympathize with Taylor of all people.

On a similar note, I really hope that those in charge are seriously reconsidering Lucy's role on the show going forward, if any was planned at all. And it's unfortunate, because I really liked Arielle Kebbel in John Tucker Must Die, and I was hoping for similar energy here. But man, the way she's delivered all of Lucy's lines so far have been uninspired, dull and borderline cringey. There's no feeling, no emotion, just flat as a pancake. The "hE's gOt iT bAd, cAp" and the way she said the line about how she worked at a dive shop in Redando were laughably bad. The crack about Chimney's height was just gross. And for as much as they're trying to push that Lucy has great chemistry with the 118, she doesn't seem to gel with them at all. All her interactions with everyone feel clunky and stilted, and the fact that she suddenly turned into an expert paramedic was eyeroll-worthy. It's very much giving "One of these things does not belong". Ironically, Bryce Durfee has tons more chemistry with the 118 as Jonah, but it's already been announced he's not sticking around, so it's just more wasted potential. Absolutely nothing about Lucy has been compelling so far - in fact, what he know about her family of cops is in the running for most uninteresting backstory I've ever heard on a procedural drama - and I really do not wish to see more of her. Eddie can't come back soon enough.

season 5 is turning around
pipkinhill12 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The first three episode of 5b feel like a whole new show (in a great way). 5a was hard to watch, but all of the storylines now are things i've been waiting to see for a long time. Eddie and maddie are breaking my heart, and seeing chim and hen together again was awesome! Despite buck's bad decisions, i'm excited to see his storyline too. I know a lot of people are mad about the TK screen time but hopefully them staying together now will mean buck chooses to end the relationship first because he realizes he's unhappy and deserves better- something he's needed to do for a long time. I'm glad that BT didn't break up right away after all, because hopefully we'll see the next few episodes buck choosing his friends and realizing he's staying in this relationship out of fear of being alone. I'm not mad about the kiss with lucy either. They've confirmed multiple times in interviews that they aren't starting a long term affair or anything like that and that it was a mistake and it's a symptom of his larger issues and i hope we see him realize putting all of himself and his self worth into other people will make him crack too. I hate seeing people say buck is ooc when he's not- he's in a bad place mentally too and this is what's happening as a result. Can't wait for next week!

Oliver Stark's facial expressions in the scenes are unbelievably good.
Emelyemmma12 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Emotions and many tears.

It is courageous and right to also address difficult things. Respect to the authors for sending fan favorite Buck into this situation. Buck is a sunshine and a kind-hearted person. He would immediately go into the fire for everyone he loves. But he is only human. And people make mistakes. It's interesting to see how he deals with them. You can't forget how much trauma there is in the man.

The acting was phenomenal. Oliver Stark's facial expressions in the scenes are unbelievably good. You can feel all the emotions. Give the man an Emmy.

Ryan Guzmann went above and beyond this time. And not to forget Gavi. WOW.

9-1-1 quality increasing again
cas196712 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This week's episode and last week's episode are breaths of fresh air after the first half of the season. Seeing Eddie finally acknowledge his trauma is something i and many others have been waiting for since season 3 and i hope they continue with this storyline. It was also refreshing to have Maddie and Chimney back home and seeing how they're both struggling with being parents. The only issue i had with the episode (except form the tarantulas) was Buck's storyline. I really hope the writers bring it to a close sooner rather than later as Taylor and Buck seem to have a lot of problems with their relationship at the moment. Also Taylor deserves better after what Buck did and i wonder how she will react when she finds out that Buck works with the girl he kissed...

The stars are purely for Eddie/Chris/Ryan/Gavin
allthingsao12 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was something, wasn't it!

The only thing that really matters to me and the only reason I stick around is for Eddie and Christopher. Ryan was absolutely perfect in this episode, breaking my heart and giving me hope that Eddie will finally learn to love himself or at least forgive himself (for things out of his control!) until he's ready to do that. I repeat, the ONLY thing worth watching for is his arc. It's a pity the showrunners don't seem to like him enough to give him the same screentime as everyone else.

The rest of the episode was a huge no. Forgetting the rescues that no longer feel interesting, you've absolutely butchered Buck. I don't recognize who that is on screen, you had the perfect opportunity in 5x13 to have him do some actual honest confessing, but instead you half-hearted it (barely even) and had him and Taylor staying together. He's a coward. He does not deserve any of the love that people show him or their obsession with him.

I have to say, the sympathy I've had for Taylor since 5x11 is now gone, more fool her for willingly living with a cheat. Especially as it's clear for the rest of the season we're going to have Buck and Lucy flirting and doing who knows what else. How does it feel to have introduced the absolute WORST character ever in Lucy, and how the way you introduced her has completely destroyed the fan favorite that is Buck? That's quite a skill. I watched for the original crew, I absolutely detest all these new people you keep bringing in, the only good one is Ravi and you've even side-lined him for Lucy and Jonah. I'm thankful for the few seconds of Ravi we got in Fear-O-Phobia I suppose, got to take what we get.

Do you even know what you are doing anymore?
I-hate-it-here12 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
First of all Ryan was amazing! All those stars are for him. The way he played Eddie's breakdown was heartbreaking. Honestly you could give me an hour of Eddie every week and I'd watch forever.

Now for the rest. Buck what are you doing? You have Buck tell Taylor he cheated just to withhold the most important part that it's his co-worker who he works alongside everyday not some rando from a bar. Excellent choice. And the fact Taylor decides to stick with him. Taylor strong, feisty, I don't take anyones crap Taylor. You are literally making a fool of her for what? You had the perfect opportunity to let her walk away with her head held high and Buck getting a lesson on how not to treat women. Instead you've made Buck worse? I don't understand why you felt the need to go down this path which is so out of character for him.

Madney breaking up was sad but I completely get it and I think they will find their way back to each other.

You are still not at all endearing Lucy to me. I honestly can't get over how she was introduced and then the comment about Chims height. I think she now just rubs me the wrong way. I can't get over the fact her and Buck are going to get close the whole time he's still stringing Taylor along.

This season it seems all the important moments are happening off screen. Chim and Buck making up. Eddie's apology to Bobby. Buck comforting Eddie after he has a complete breakdown, what's the guy got to do to get a damn hug! Please start showing these deep meaningful scenes onscreen. A lot of us watch for the family dynamic not just the calls. You can't seem to find the balance anymore and it's extremely frustrating.

I just don't know anymore.
brittybear-0335112 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode gets 5 stars because Ryan Guzman is a king and Maddie/Chim are back - that's it! I hate what they have done to Buck! I don't know what's worse - that he knows he's unhappy and settling and stays with Taylor or that she says she doesn't care he cheated. Wow! Mind blown! These two are so toxic! Buck was my favorite character and they are slowly destroying him piece by piece and it breaks my heart! I also loathe these new people at the fire house - get rid of Lucy and Jonah. We don't need them nor do we care! Bring Chim and Eddie back - period!

Now on to why this episode even got 5 stars from me. I am so happy Maddie and Chim are home - it's time to heal and I know they'll find their way back together. Last but not least - I knew Ryan was a darn good actor, but holy moly. Give him more because he's a show stopper!

And with tonight's episode the Buck, Lucy and Taylor love triangle has officially started
e_fischer12 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
And i hate every wasted screentime moment of it.

I despise Taylor, i loathed Lucy and i even strongly dislike Buck right now, so congrats Kristen Reidel you really made me no longer like my once comfort show. Last nights episode was the last one i watched as long as this showrunner is in charge. If i want teenage drama i would watch CW shows. I want my beautiful 911 back and what i have watched last night was not it. The ONE AND ONLY exception was Eddie's story. That is something i'm interested in, such a shame they only gave it like two minutes. But sadly not even Ryan Guzman and his top tier acting can make me turn in next week. I'm over this Buck, Lucy thing before it really starts and Kristen Reidel can go to hell. I'm done with this show.

This is no longer the show i love
Jocelyn7212 April 2022
I absolutely hate Buck's arc and i fear it hasn't even really begun. I have zero interest in watching more of this nonsense. The only reason i still tune in is Eddie Diaz. Ryan really did a great job in this episode, why was he only on my tv for like a minute? I cannot give more than one star, because Taylor and Lucy are so annoying characters. I don't want to see them. Buck reminds me of a dumb teenager and i just cannot with the writing of this show any longer. It is a nightmare. Every important character moment happened offscreen. I'm no longer willing to accept this.

This is the worst show on FOX as of tonight
JMadems12 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Ryan was amazing - what there was of it - a minute then gone No dealing with the trauma caused Christopher. What idiots leave a gap like that.

Buck lied at least two more times - "haven't had interaction with Fire Barbie" and obfuscated by not coming clean about the kiss wasn't "some girl in a bar" like TK was mislead- but a person he worked with. I hate having empathy for TK as she has become the most vapid character on the show. But the writers have made Buck the most sleazy BF on the show. Total character bombing. Growth? He goes backwards every week. Get ready for Buck 1.0 any day now.

Time to rescue the smoldering rubble Tim!

The crack made by LD about Chim was ridiculous. Make a crack to pump up her ego. Pathetic.

Remember when the writers used to write amazing episodes?
seban-0155013 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Because I do, vaguely, about two seasons ago. This episode promised to be so much and yet without Eddie's total of five minutes on screen it was yet another pointless hand-waving kind of a deal.

Since when is introducing a female character as a love interest and acting like she is the new star of the show before we've even met her a great way to start the second half of a season (or any season)? Lucy is awful. No matter how 'cute' her and Buck's scenes get (or is it flirting and poking? Who knows? Oliver is a liar, Arielle is a liar looking for attention, and Kristen shouldn't be allowed near a showrunner job ever again), she is not redeemable. And this episode just cemented that, because instead of showing us more about our beloved 118 that we started watching for, you have her being in the firehouse and making fun of Chim's height.

As for Bucktaylor, I don't even know what to say. Taylor Kelly was another female character we were told was a 'badass' and look at her now, I don't recognise her at all. Not as much as I no longer recognise Buck of course, because who the hell knows who he is anymore. But Fear-o-Phobia just proved that the show no longer has any clue what it's doing - they keep giving us all these stories about side characters no one likes and ignoring the mains. Why this episode dedicated so many minutes to them and we're continually told about important things happening off screen I don't know.

All in all, Fear-o-Phobia was an episode that didn't meet expectations, and would have been unwatchable were it not for Ryan and Gavin's incredible acting.

What happened to the TRUTH IS EVERYTHING Buck?
maggiemargaret12312 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I'm angry, so angry at this show. Instead of giving me more of Eddie's storyline i'm forced to watch hours of this terrible relationship that is Buck and Taylor. Haven't we suffered enough already? Apparently not because when Taylor says her final goodbye i'm absolutely sure Buck jumps on to the next horrible relationship with Lucy. I'm mean look at the way they are writing everything i'm one hundred percent sure in the finale of this season him and Lucy will become a thing. I was all onboard for Buck and Eddie to become this thing, because their story and relationship is beautiful written and i always hoped that this season the showrunners finally are going to let it happen, but the way i see it they would rather ruin every character than to make these two a thing. And ruining every character is what they apparently are doing if i take a look at the writing. Sigh this episode was such a huge letdown AGAIN i just don't understand it anymore. Ryan's performance was outstanding, but i guess he just isn't important enough to get more screentime than the new and such a breath of fresh air Lucy Donato or this wonderful relationship that is Buck and Taylor. Disgusting that Buck still hasn't told her whom he kissed. Coming clean looks different to me. I'm over this crap. And Taylor Kelly continues to be a horrible character. Why is she still on this show?

eddie and ryan saved the episode
is-2193212 April 2022
The episode wasn't bad but the best thing was eddie's storyline and his breakdown and buck being there with him. The acting was amazing in those scenes especially ryan's but incredible work from both of them! The rest of the ep was good especially the chimney parts and maddie the only thing that it's not working at all is the buck/taylor/lucy drama it's stupid and it looks like a cw show type of drama also lucy had way too much screentime in an episode where the focus should have been on eddie and madney coming home she even had more screentime than eddie and that's unacceptable she needs to go she adds nothing to the 118 or the show she's just there for the drama and we're already sick of it so get rid of both taylor and lucy and focus more on the og characters and their families and less on buck's love life and romantic drama thanks.
