Feels like a punch in the stomach. But it's so good!

"Beautiful World" by Devo is one of those great cases of songs that need to be studied and the video even more. While the lyrics talk about the many good things that are available in life and the greatness of you it is with just two words that everything is destroyed: "For you!", meaning the world might be beautiful but not for me. To enhance such notion this video proves exactly everything that's wrong with the world and as the positive bits from the lyrics are presented, as images we have a complete oppositive with world wars, KKK demonstrations, police brutality against African-Americans, the atomic bomb and such.

It's not all tragedy in here. The weird-looking character created by Devo also shows us random images of people dancing in crazed ways, a group of fencers making a choreographed routine, and countless of images from 1950's television programs and stuff, which reveals the happy commercial of how life and people was back then but in fact it was everything but the opposite.

The sarcasm contained in this juxtaposition between song and images makes of "Beautiful World" one of the most curious, fantastic and explosive videos to be seen. For a group where the sense of humor was vital and what made them famous, this one is far too serious to actually have a laugh. In some parts, I think. 10/10.
