Dodgy but it's a post apocalyptic film so I didn't hate it
jamesarkinstall5 December 2020
I love the bit when they leave the church after the pastor was killed and a truck drives past them in the background! Also a few other obvious bloopers, which make it the bit more watchable. Not that bad considering the budget would of been a bees cock of a Hollywood flick. There was some suspenseful moments, if you are into this genre it really is worth watching.

I was involved until the end...it kind of sucked
jordondave-280853 February 2023
Written and directed by Stephen Folker, an apocalyptic movie with Jonathan (Burt Culver) who used to be a cop but is now fighting for his survival. Much of it is from raving marauders he is armed with nothing more than his pistol. He eventually stumbles onto what he assumes was an abandoned church trying to escape and hide from marauders. And it is during then he meets a black man, Devin (Ramon Bailey) and his 8 or 9 year old daughter, Shelly (Berkeley Clayborne) where his old dad, Jones (Glenn Harston) happens to be the pastor for the church where they shared some of their food with. He meets more people along the way.

If the running time is 1 hour and 15 minutes then it may meant that the forced drama situations was the result was so that the movie running time must be filled to be labelled as a film, which if one were to continue watching it further locations were reused over and over.

A very cheap imitation of The Road
Hajimoto062514 September 2020
I usually like these kinds of movies, but not this time. Its clearly a heap knock off of The Road which is an ATF of mine. But they just don't pull it off. The writing is bad, the acting is worse, and the cinematography is flat. Also, the sets are too obviously staged. But I'd still rate it higher if it wasn't such a blatant rip off. But you put the bad things mentioned above with a lack of creativity and you get yourself a boring loser of a movie. You should skip this one.

Trailer gives a hint at quality of movie.
coronetblue-1077324 November 2018
Right from the opening scene, attention to detail, or just a "couldn't care less attitude" prevails, where we are told that hundreds of millions of people have been killed, perhaps billions, yet the skies in the opening scene reveal an average days chem trails spread out over the skies. Poor acting and a poor script make this painful to watch.

Another post-apocalypse indie
Leofwine_draca16 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
TO SURVIVE is yet another post-apocalypse thriller made on an indie budget. As usual, most of the running time is filled with characters lying or hanging around in an abandoned house. It doesn't make for high entertainment. The look of the film is heavily indebted to that of THE WALKING DEAD, with survivors attempting to evade marauders, but the plot is lacking in the extreme.

I enjoyed the film. Good acting, there was plenty of suspense and action. I love a post-apocalyptic movie!

Have a happy day

Warning: Spoilers
Jonathan (Burt Culver) we discover is a former cop from flashbacks. He survives the apocalypse of unknown causes. He travels from Indiana to...(Filmed in Davenport, Iowa). He meets good people and he meets bad people who he has to fight and kill. They walk, they talk, eat, drive a vehicle, thank God and nothing to see here. Less exciting than "The Road." Almost seems like they went without a script and made it up as they went along.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity. Available on multi-packs.

Wouldn't even rate it but...

Wow. Is all I can say! Utter crap. Great idea, poorly written. Dragged on, I kept waiting for something to happen. Best part? The end. Poorly engineered. Sound must have gone on in a last minute panic. I found myself turning it up & down all through. The music is supposed to be a behing thing, not a foreground thing. Can hardly hear the characters speak most of the time, hence the turning the volume up & down all movie. I would be totally ashamed to have written, engineered, directed or produced any part of the finished product. Back to the drawing board boys & girls. I usually never rate any movie, but this one was so poorly done, I had to find this website & write one based on how this left me feeling. Ripped off, embarrassed! Save your time folks. These boys need to go back to school. More working and it could be something good. It's a NO from me.

A little hard to watch
ericfleming-2825330 April 2021
The cause of the disaster is never explained and only mentioned as "the way things were before..." which isn't bad or really even necessary in that all you need to know is that something massively went wrong and humanity has been reduced to this. Where things go wrong are that some of the scenes were just too contrived . I mean someone just doesn't bust into your house and 5 minutes later ask them to stay for dinner. It's just not believable. Or asking to tag along with them the next morning. The execution of the scene felt awkward and forced and plainly just didn't work. Indeed most of the scenes where there's personal dialog feels awkward and made up on the spot. Especially the getting to know you scenes where loose ends and backstories are rounded out didn't achieve that. You still ended up with a bunch of individuals rather than a cohesive group. Since I've come this far, maybe filming in HD wasn't the best choice of camera. I mean it's great for sporting events and evening news, but not for this. It's too much stark reality.

Well, it's fairly apparent this movie didn't click for me. There wasn't a single character I could root for and the story felt like it was half thought out.

Explain???
stephenaulerich28 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I bought this from a 'Fear the Dead' 10 movie pack from the dollar tree, knew it was gonna be bad, but not this bad. Like, Jesus, they used bb guns, grandpa at the begining tried to board up a door (and the piece of wood was to small to block the door to open), and the girl moved on too quick from her dad dying. Also, like no zombies? Really anticipated on zombies, maybe it was out of the budget, like the actors too afraid to break a single object in the movie. But ya, if you want a good movie to Netflix and chill, I promise you this, you won't be missing much, so enjoy that quality time, teehee👀😏

I just wasted 7 seconds on the 1st 7 seconds....
robertscory-4296811 May 2021
The very first shot in the movie shows a highway full of traveling cars. Either the disaster never happened and the characters were complete lunatics, or hiring editors wasnt in the $5,000 budget to make this flop of a film.
