A very interesting episode.
Sleepin_Dragon20 October 2022
A taxi driver is killed by a trio of men, even though only one technically pulled the trigger, the three men are sentenced to murder, each receiving sentences of different lengths.

For me, this was the most interesting episode so far from this third series. It's an interesting case, and definitely one that's intentionally thought provoking, it's one to make you think about events, and question them.

I'm not sure about the way it was done, but is it asking you to have some sympathy for the criminals? If that's the case, I have zero, as a result of their actions, a man died, my sympathies are for him, and his family.

I won't name which one, but sometimes a person's eyes can say an awful lot, there is some very interesting body language going on with one of the convicted murderers. Wild eyed, and all I heard was me, I and my, absolutely no degree of remorse whatsoever.

7/10.

Not the point

It doesn't matter. Plea deal or no plea deal. All three men were admittedly high. They were phoney tough and out to cause trouble. A totally innocent man is dead. I don't care if two of them had better legal advice and got lighter sentences than the dude who got 40 years. All 3 deserve to be where they are. When the CRIMINAL at the end started sobbing and whining about how unfair the system was, it made my blood boil! You were involved! You chose your fate! The cabbie had no choice. A 29 year old guy trying to turn a buck and you 3 thugs blew him away for no reason! Dry your tears. Reflect on your sins. Amend your ways. Take your sentence. Amend your ways. You get out when your 70? Well the cabbie didn't even make it to 30.

Injustice

It's these stories especially that really make you think about the criminal justice system in America. How can the same crime result in two wildly different sentences all because one of the defendants chose to exercise his constitutionally protected right to a fair trial. A well made doc in terms of setting storyline and interviewing relevant parties.

Cheers to a very, very, very, very long review thanks to the new rule established for review character length, courtesy of the IMDb staff. I'm glad to report that you can absolutely trust that this review is credible and relevant based solely on the fact that it contains at least 600 characters.

Warning: Spoilers
I did not watch this episode. As the sister of the cab driver our involvement with my brothers case was day to day night to night. We did not want to relive the nightmare of this episode that's why we asked for the episode to not even be aired. As siblings and young family members remembered the great person my brother was they now had a chance to relive something they either didn't know about or didn't remember and all it did was cause pain and sadness. So for those who thought we needed to be involved in this tragedy we lived it. Do you think that for one moment since 2009 our family doesn't think about that evening that early morning that visit to the hospital the several blocks my brother drove after he was shot. The driveway where he flipped his cab onto its side. And who knows if the cb wasn't pulled from my brothers cab if he could have called for help if he may have survived. We don't have to be involved in an episode to know all that happened. We were there. We saw the evidence, we were there for trial, we confronted his killers. What was the point of doing it again they can't bring him back. Was this your brother son nephew cousin friend? Let him rest. Peace in heaven Tim we will always love you.

It does show how the American justice system is quite broken
gmsmith-416 February 2023
They chose a completely unsympathetic individual as the example, which was unfortunate, I don't think anyone would come away thinking he deserved a lesser sentence. But the DA saying that plea deals are a warping of justice is quite right. When a justice system rewards and even promotes pleas of guilt, whether true or not, it stops being a justice system. You're guilty, make a plea deal and get half the time. You're innocent, still plea deal. Like the prosecutor said, you're rolling the dice otherwise. A legal system really shouldn't be comparable to a game of chance, a casino. But the prosecutor gave away his own understanding, that it can, is. Finding the truth is less important than expediency.

Three Murderers
chrisslinkerre24 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Ummm. The twist on this case is one monster gets more time than the others ? And that's horrible ? Give me a break.....these three monsters deserve nothing for being gangsters attempting to rob a young cabbie. The lack of his family involvement however makes this episode questionable.

Thankfully for the judge putting them all away. The price to pay for being a liar and testing the lie is ....... Harsher penalties. None of these guys would have likely amounted to much in life.

Sometimes I wonder if we can do something more productive with these lumps of garbage ? Maybe scare other worthless youth from doing the same things ? Will they even listen ? Doubtful. I appreciate the judges steadfast conviction. Trinidad deserves what he got !
