If the first episode of the twelfth series was so full of stories that you didn't feel they all got explored to the fullest of their potential then this episode is a direct contrast.
I thought this was a rather thin outing, with lots of the more engaging characters either not being present of given the customary 'watching and nodding' episode that all 'Call the Midwife' characters seem to get once a series.
It was fine, don't get me wrong, but I thought Lucille's struggles were rather rushed through and offered a bit of a false happy ending.
It does mean another character gone though (I bet she'll be back for the last episode of the series - another standard 'Call the Midwife' trick), leaving Nonnatus House and us as viewers a bit thin on the ground.
