Talking about the varied aspects of religion in India and specifically Kerala, Parudeesa talks about how the usual folklore reacts to a miracle and the superstitious parades of life.
Anthony Thekkek is poignant in his role as verger as well as the father who takes on the true path to religion and believes in Jesus. He sets a benchmark and the story revolves around the chronicles of a stereotype- ridden village in a high range area in Kerala. Sreenivasan isn't a charmer as the priest & arch-bishop thereafter, but the supporting cast like Jagathy & Shwetha Menon do good.
Only that the screenplay is very slow and boring at times, Parudeesa delivers a good message and talks about perks of serving humanity. Direction is average, while editing & cinematography sucks. Music is in parallel with the theme and as a whole, the film scores well enough with a background thriller story!
BOTTOM LINE: Parudeesa is averagely watchable and serious cinema-buffs should have a look, but if you love fun & masala movies with cheap humor and glamor, Parudeesa is not for you.
Can be watched with a typical Indian family? YES
