Who Might Be the Killer?
claudio_carvalho5 August 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Dexter finds Zach's blood under the fingernail of Cassie and he is convinced that Zach killed his next door neighbor. He tracks Zach down through his credit card and head with Hannah to the Keys. Meanwhile Debra uses the hidden GPS to follow Dexter. Dexter and Hannah find Zach at a motel and Dexter realizes that Zach is not the killer. They return to Miami and Dexter gets a passport and credit card for Hannah to travel to Nassau and then to another country. But Dexter does not want Hannah to leave him. When he comes back home, he has an unexpected surprise at home.

In "Are We There Yet?", it is irritating how Dexter forgets the blood under Cassie's fingernail. I was not expecting that Zach could die, but now I suspect that the serial-killer might be Dr. Vogel. My vote is eight.

Do not dude me!

Warning: Spoilers
The encounters alone in this episode... Deb with the old crew on a crime scene, Dex and Hannah and Deb and… Zach in a motel room, only to move the party to Dr. Vogel's for supper without Deb, though. Masuka's daughter getting Matthews' attention, and 'my name is Harrison' to Quinn.

Good episode, in fact it flew by, which is a good thing! I believe it got extra points for the more-than-usual nudity, which, by the way, was a very strong scene!

Another very strong interaction was the one with Deb and Hannah at the motel room. I don't think I've ever seen them talk so much to each other. I like Hannah (maybe more than Deb) but Debra is a much older character, and I know where her heart is better than I do Hannah's. This, in regards to their conversation, is for a lot of respect to the emotional depth and integrity of Deb's, who's finding herself after all. On her way back to the Miami Metro PD... and what about Elway now? Poor guy! Deb is going to repel a siege now by Quinn and his tan.

I did not like Zach to begin with, but he actually was OK on this one. Of course there was a reason why the directors made him more likable, and it worked. I did say 'oh no' when half of his head was missing at the end.

All in all the episode set us up for the anticipated storm ahead. I was never sure about Vogel as to her motives, and I really want to see Dexter vet her... unless it is another teaser! Anyhow Dr. Vogel would be an easy loss to cut, and a very... unwealthy plot! She shows up like a ghost after what feels like forever to end everything?! I hope that's not the case!

Have a good one!

Jamie & Quinn and Dexter & Hannah: The corniest couples on TV.
DanialAbufarha6 September 2019
The scenes in which either Jamie & Quinn or/and Dexter & Hannah appear in are incredibly corny and cheesy. Especially Jamie and Quinn, whose relationship literally adds nothing to the show but unwarranted sex scenes.

We Are not There Yet, but We're close enough!

Warning: Spoilers
Dexter is quietly going to its end. I don't know whether it's logical or good one, but it's the end. Hopefully, a lot interesting and intriguing things happen lately, so this might mean the most bad ass finale we've ever seen. Who knows!

Are We There Yet? suggest majors plot twists of this season, it questions everything we've believed so far and brings persons, we were forgetting, on the surface. Mostly this episode is about investigating of Cassie murder, Hannah and Dexter relationship and Debra's efforts to get rid of her as easily as possible. But there is even more happening in the end.

From previous episode, we remember that Zach is a major suspect in murders and Dex seems to be a lot disappointed, because he seemed to be liking him and the idea of being a mentor. We all thought that he deserved to be killed? Did he? Or just the writers tried to trick us? I've missed something before, Hamilton was so much fan of Morgan and he tried to be like him so hard that he would not kill anybody. It turns out that he started to follow the code by himself which is why he does not particularly fit the characteristics of Dex's victims.

Debra tries to negotiate with brother about making Hannah leave Miami, but she definitely knows that Dexter is too much into her and there is no point in doing this. That's why she's tracing them and asks Jacob for help to get McKay. However, Dexter really makes arrangements for Hannah to leave the country, giving her new documents - ID and cards, but it's not easy to turn them apart.

Hannah meets Dr. Vogel, having a dinner of 4 psychopaths - Evelyn, Hannah, Dexter & Zach - making a perfect family. I guess Doctor really enjoyed having such an awkward company. She admits that the relationship between Morgan and McKay is not normal since both are not actually able to have feelings.

Debra has a dilemma of staying as a private investigator or go back to Miami Metro. This can change everything. I think, if she goes back she will definitely start a WAR against brother and his lover, because the only reason she'd like to be a policewoman again, is to do the right things, she always used to. This decision can complicated the plot pretty much.

Quinn continues to follow Zach. He is one hundred percent sure that this little boy murdered two women. His obsession does not really help in relationship with Jamie. There is what I thought, he might be with Debra by the end of the show, they fit each other so perfectly.Who knows?!

Hannah is leaving and she has a final kiss with Dexter, but we all know how it generally ends.

But the ending is brilliant. The last minutes of each episode this year is breathtaking and refreshing. But the thing that happened in Are We There Yet?! just made everything up&down - it actually meant that everything I (or we) believed in was just a lie and there is much worse truth hiding beneath the surface.

this season is full of errors
davidlyncheire20 August 2013
This season just doesn't have the same feel to it as earlier ones, maybe it has run long too long and thankfully this is the last season. That's not to say I'm not enjoying this season just the standard has dropped and it was a high standard. The love story is Hannah is dragging on a bit and herself and Dexter and his apprentice working together was just too far fetched. And there are now many unrealistic scenes. Do you expect us to believe the police would interviews boyfriends and friends of the victim (neighbor)while she is lying on the ground with her face cave in a pool of blood. And deb just strolls in without any problems i mean come on! And Hannah is able to walk around without changing her appearance one bit not even dying her hair, even for the passport picture i mean she is a serial killer on the run i think people would remember her. Anyway still a great show and i hope it gets the ending it deserves.

S8.E8 - Zach and Hannah [9/10]
panagiotis199330 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
(S8. E8) My Reaction / Review for Dexter Season 8 Episode 8 ''Are We There Yet?'': Episode 7 was good and I gave it a rating of 9/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. So Zach killed Cassie, I wonder what Dex will do about it. So Zach didn't kille Cassie? Im confused, I thought Dex found Zach's blood on Cassie's fingernails. Dr. Vogel, Dexter, Hannah and Zach eat together like one messed up family. So who framed Zach for Cassie's murder and why they did it? Do they know Zach is a killer? I think that at some point Deb and her boss could become a couple. And Dex and Hanna have s-ex, I did see that coming. Someone killed Zach? That sucks. Is it the brain surgeon killer again? Will Hannah stay with Dexter or not? Overall a good episode, my rating is 9/10.

1. Zach gets schooled 2. "Family" dinner 3. Zach is killed

Even though I really didn't like the previous episode, this actually was a pretty hilarious lighthearted episode. It was just so funny seeing the combination of Dexter, Hannah and Zach together. Despite some disagreements, I actually enjoy the chemistry Dexter and Hannah have. They both understand each other very clearly and the only person close to that was maybe Lila. Whoever wrote this episode found a light in the chaos of season 8 and actually made it enjoyable. Seeing Dexter "teach" someone and pass the torch is a concept that can only work in the final season as a way to commemorate him. And that dinner scene was so funny with Rampling being the star. A weird little dysfunctional community of killers and killer...mother. But slightly unintelligible ending... wish they put more effort in. Zach is randomly killed the same way as the brain surgeon. Who would do this? Only way to find out...

Things Are Starting To Heat Up... About Time.
mrxelement18 August 2013
Dexter's mind is still cloudy by Hannah's ugly return and its still annoying as hell seeing their scenes together. But that doesn't stop there, this episode was way better than "Dress Code" which left a kinda of a bad taste in my mouth. But to a fair warning to y'all there is gonna be a lot of Hannah scenes with Dexter. So just go along with it even though we all want her gone.

"Are We There Yet" is mainly about the investigating of Cassie murder,Dexter and Hannah relationship, Deb's hateful grudge towards Hannah, and our little wanna be Dexter "Zack". Now you don't want to skip this episode cause its very fricking important leading to the next. Some scenes are quite memorable and enjoyable for most part. We kinda have our cool Dexter's voice-over, Deb's incredible acting, Masuka being Masuka, Quinn being Quinn and so on. The first half of the episode was normal but then it gets so weird in the second half its great!

As for the ending, all I'm gonna say is the ending was surprisingly good, like holy s**t, now we can finally start the final season with a bang!

Hannah

Yvonne Strahovsky killed Dexter. The show went down hill bad when she showed up. I thought it was bad when Lumen showed up in season 5, Hannah really did a number on the show.
