Aren't 'Call the Midwife' lucky!
In any episode you've got such a depth of quality cast members and characters that over the course of a series you can give each of them their own week where they are the central/one of the central figures.
Linda Bassett gets her go this week, and absolutely knocks it out of the park, giving a wonderful performance.
All the other stories work well too, and it makes for another strong episode of the twelfth series.
Other than the second weeks instalment I have enjoyed what I have seen from it so far this year, though the "Nonnatus House is in danger of closing" plot has been a bit overused.
