Decent season. Too much backstory and drama.
LiTu075 February 2024
Overall, an enjoyable season! Some good moves, fun moments, nice players.

However, I'd love to see more skill and strategy and less backstory of people. Every single person was great and they all have inspiring stories. But that's not the main reason people watch this show and it gets too soapy, kind of flat, and with few exceptions, not exciting from a gameplay and challenges perspective.

New challenges (preferably more physical as well) would also make this show repetitive, and would prevent some players from training on specific clasic challenges, which would benefit players that are more well rounded and are better at multiple types of challenges.

When selecting the cast, backstory should't be relevant. Everyone should be worthy enough to participate in the show, even if their story doesn't seem so unique and inspiring. I'm sure unique stories would naturally show up anyways, and it would even be more inspiring as they wouldn't feel cherry picked. Excellence is also inspiring and this is what's Survivor used to be.

Mediocre season....just waiting for Australian season to come back
grlym-4684929 May 2023
So this season was hit and miss with an average cast

There were some good episodes, but the season was just average. Too much of this show relies heavily on advantages and producer injected drama. The fake idols given by the producers was lame. The game seams like of the 3 components of the game, it leans 90% social (which production influences in the show), 10% outwit, and 10% outplay.

As an audience member, social makes you feel buoy a persons presence (or wish them to get voted off early). BUT, outplay and out whit are what truly makes the show exciting and really seem like the true worth if a winner in the show.

It has been far too many seasons since outplay and outwit were decisive. This season got to the final 5 and I could care less who won. None of them seemed like winners. And it seems only to be more emphasized by the fact that Australian Survivor continues to be so incredible at this very aspect of the show. And the cast is always spectacular. And when they do a twist, it doesn't seem producer contrived. And it always heightens the excitement as an audience member

So can the American one watch the Australian one and take notes?

So far from what is used to be

Maybe it's recency bias but this might have been the worst season I've seen yet. Terrible cast everyone is so annoying I don't want to root for anyone. The good players get eliminated for playing well and the game is like 90% social and being likable and not threatening and 5% outwit 5% outplay. I've never seen so much emotion and crying. We need less sob stories and more focus on the survival aspects of the game. There are far too many idols and advantages. Go back to 1 or 2 for the whole season. It seems to me it would be real easy to find an idol. Just walk around and look for the cameraman focusing his camera on where the idol is hidden. The challenges are a joke because everyone is so unathletic it's embarrassing. It's SURVIVOR. The winner should be the most skilled player. So far from what it used to be.

Average seaon

The producers are rebounding a bit with interesting game play and a bit more idol play plus wedding out some of the pointless garbage that they added a few years back, their so-called ""twists"". Sadly though they seem to be running out of ideas when it comes to challenges as we have seen some of them time and again.

The other item although there has been a bit of an improvement of choosing players it is still a far cry of anyone memorable for game play. If anyone asked who won the last 3-4 seasons.... I couldn't tell you.

No more Russell's. Parv. Sandra. Ben. Tony. Boston Rob.

Sadly these last few seasons are just a watered down version of what Survivor use to be. No more 39 days. 26 days? Sheeesh.

This year Yam Yam won. No kidding. CBS telegraphed that practically from the first episode. 😂 Not sure if the dude could have gotten any more face time🤔

Another bad ending.
quockquock25 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This season wasn't bad at all. In fact I was enjoying it.. until the last episode. People crying for no reason during speeches, and then the others join in with the tears. All the while sappy music is being played (almost scripted) into the background. The worst part (like many other seasons) was when the best player did not win. Heidi won the last two challenges and arguably played just as well as anyone else. Heidi should have easily won. I watched the entire season and I don't remember anything remarkable that Yam yam did. Other than acting silly and giggling and maybe being social, he wasn't a "Survivor" in the truest sense of the word.

What a horrible season
sdav-7943318 December 2023
Wow. That used to be my favorite show.

Season 40, all winners season, which Tony won, was the last one I saw. And it was great, and to me Tony was the best player I have ever seen on Survivor.

Now what the hell has happened to that show?

Almost all the players are so annoying and crying all the time.

All final 3 are so annoying it's impossible to watch. So many fast forward.

Why there are so many immunity idols/advantages/whatever? Way too much.

Where are the really great players? Tony, Boston rob, Russel, anybody??

No one on that season really understood the game.

That season was so boring, annoying, with nothing interesting, no real blindside, no strategy like the old days...nothing.

What a waste of time.

The season of crocodile tears
BruceWayne329 August 2023
Dear lord there was a lot of crying on this season It was honestly annoying how emotional this cast was Danny should of stayed on for the sake of men in the world. The players did not play smart why on earth would you think tika would jump ship all of a sudden when they stayed together literally from day 1? Too much crying and bad strategy by everyone made this season a 6 on its wedding day. I honestly didn't like any of the final 4 all of them were annoying and were a drag. Why does the show keep putting business owners on the show? Every season there's ex sports players or business owners, give the everyday Joe a shot at changing their life.

Decent Season, Mediocre Finale
SurvivorFan3966 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is the best season since season 40, so that's one good thing about the season. As more seasons go on, the producers interfere less and less with terrible twists, but it is still an issue in Survivor today. Especially with the Half merge twist. I rate the serason overall as a 7 out of 10, but this finale was annoying when it came to sob stories and unbalanced screen time.

I'd like to mention that Heidi had almost zero screen time during the final 5 and then became more important at the final 4, but STILL got overshined by Tika. This is one major gripe I had with the season overall: The lopsided edit. Tika, Danny, and Frattie take up ALL of the screen time, with other character being left out in the dust, especially Heidi, Lauren, Brandon and Kane.

I hate how Lauren had a sob fest at the final 5, which ruined the little suspense that tribal had. Same thing with the final 4, with Heidi and Carson. They need to focus less on the backstories of characters and more on the suspense that usually happens at the finale. Honestly, the winner 100% deserved it. This is a hot take, but I'm glad Yam-Yam won and that Hieidi got second because I think Caroyln is a better main character than winner.

Overall, the boot order of the finale was really decent, and the fire challenge had enough suspense along with the boot of Carson, the frontrunner. But, the sob stories took the suspense and hype from a finale, which made it more boring to watch.
