It looks like this show is going to give us some time jumps, necessary or not, and it is just to advance where Bass Reeves is in his career moreso than any kind of character growth or advancement.
I often question the validity of some of the arrests during this time period, and how they actually tracked bad guys down, but those kind of logistics will never fully be explained on a TV show like this.
