A matter of perspective

Warning: Spoilers
Was not initially intending to review this episode until I noticed the earlier where the IMDb member talked about plot holes.

This is sort of a bete noire for me, so I will weigh in.

If this were a free standing movie it would indeed suffer from a number of iffy script devices that were clearly intended to move the action along, from Act to Act, between commercial breaks.

Such as the heroine leaving protective custody, EVEM THOUGH SHE HAD BEEN WARNED NOT TO, and then trusting a stranger she had no reason to.

Also the way the bad guys (legionairres) appeared out of nowhere for the confrontation in the lobby. A touch of sloppy writing indeed.

However if you keep in mind that the writers and the producers are doing episodic TV, and each week they have to juggle the long arc and the short arc, this is actually a pretty fun, easy to watch, middle of the road episode.

The heroine in the short arc gets the TBAA treatment (discussed on other reviews) and we the viewers get to advance the long arc with a lovely cameo by Amy Acker and Bear at the end.

Not so bad.

The action moves smartly. There is a fight scene at the 17:00 mark which is good as anything else in Season 3 to date, and also includes a handy Mr Wizard trick for staying alive when jumping off a third floor window.

A matter of perspective. One reviewer sees a lost episode. Another sees a baseline for middle of the road.

You choose.

The Generators
claudio_carvalho3 March 2024
The Machine delivers the number of the Engineer Maria Martinez from the Hydral Corp., an energy company owned by Ken Davis and that delivered six generators to Iraq. Finch, Reese and Shaw believe she is a terrorist that wants to bring Omar Risha from Iraq. They follow her, and she seems to be interested in the UN building and the diplomat Rene Lapointe, who is the responsible for approving the requests of refugees. But soon they learn that Maria's only intent is to bring Omar and she is not a terrorist. Their further investigation shows that commissioners from UN are involved in corruption, and Maria and Omar are targets from their group.

"Allegiance" is another great episode of "Person of Interest". In this episode, Root has the chance to kill the Englishman John Greer, but she becomes talkative and loses the chance. Now the Decima has the chip, the drivers and six powerful generators. Therefore, the organization is ready to start Samaritano. My vote is eight.

One of the weakest S3 episodes

Warning: Spoilers
POI has had its highs and lows so far: the episode two weeks before, the one with the proto-(and anti-)Reese, was a high high; this one is a low. The plot, concerning missing generators in Iraq (!), is thoroughly uninteresting; we already know they were taken by Decima, we don't need an entire episode dedicated to that (it's the definition of season filler). The only good sequences are at the beginning and the end, with Root tracking the boss of Decima. **1/2 out of 4.

awesome show - terrible episode
dougteach12 July 2014
I love this television show and I am a huge fan of Jim Caviezel and Sarah Shahi, but this episode is TERRIBLE. It has huge plot holes that the writers don't normally have. This episode was barely watchable because I kept telling myself that the characters just wouldn't let that happen. This episode provides very little information in the grand scheme of the show other than how Decima got the power to operate Samaritan.

The main characters are fooled like they were beginners and the special guests are not believable in the least and their plight seems dumb. If you are a fan of the show, skip this episode for the sake of your sanity.
