One of PSJ's best shows
phd_travel18 October 2020
This is a surprisingly engaging and well constructed series. There is a realistic but not painful love triangle then the dating after that which keeps things interesting to the complete ending. The characters are likeable even the mother who is a refreshing change. No contrived villains. The age is the main obstacle but I like the way they dealt with the issues in a funny but not heavy way. Uhm Jung Hwa makes her character a sympathetic feisty and likeable career woman. It could easily have been cringeworthy if she overdid it but she doesn't. And although she is actually 20 years older than PSJ it didn't feel icky or wrong. Park Seo Joon displays a range of acting talent here from good comedic timing to passionate love. Fight for My Way is still PSJ;s best show but among the rom coms A Witch's Love is the most engaging. She Was Pretty was painful and Secretary Kim was simplistic. One of the few faults is some of the acting cute and in love was borderline painful but these parts are brief. The director of this show did Crash Landing so you are in good hands. Worth a watch.

With so many mixed reviews surprised how well I liked this

Warning: Spoilers
At the top of her game, Ban Ji-yeon (Uhm Jung-hwa) has everything except for a husband. Her work colleagues not so fondly refer to her "as the witch" as she pulls no punches in the very competitive field of news reporting. Those that cross her path are likely to leave after experiencing her sharp wit and brutal truth telling. Yoon Dong-ha (Park Seo-joon) seems to be Ji-yeon's complete opposite. With his best friend he runs a part time agency and they do just about any odd job which puts him in Ji-yeon's path frequently. At 39 Ji-yeon's mother wants her to get over having been left at the alter by her long time boyfriend, and take the next steps of marriage and children. Dong-ha lost his serious girlfriend under tragic circumstances and, hasa maturity born of tragedy at 25. A twist of fate has Ji-Yeon and Dong-ha not only working together but also next door neighbors. The more Dong-ha gets to know.her the more he sees that "the witch" hides a very caring and nice interior that she takes great pains to hide. Just when it seems Ji-yeon may be able to win over Ji-Heinz and convince her their age gap does not matter her ex-fiancé shows up. He has a story to tell and is determined to get Ji-Yoon back. He is handsome, rich and is now a world renown photographer.

I was surprised at how much I liked this movie although I should not have been as Park Seo-Joon was in one of my favorites, "Fight My Way". It was a little bit taming of the shrew in that she seemed pretty vicious on the surface. I thought they were very compelling and sweet as a couple. I also like all of the supporting characters and the friendships were very fun to watch. It was believable to watch her struggles with the age gap and also how she had to work through the feelings she had for her ex fiancé. There was a middle section where it felt a bit frustrating that she was slow to realize her Luke warm feelings for her ex-fiancé and her growing and persistent feelings for Dong-ha. Still I really loved this movie and highly recommend it as an outstanding romantic comedy.

I Liked This Rom-Com
Geeta35222 August 2020
This is a good Rom-Com about a younger man in love with an older woman. I liked the way they handled this sensitive subject matter. Park Seo Joon, as usual, was excellent and carried the series. You will laugh and you may cry, but one thing you will definitely do as a result of this series is THINK! It is a very good series ; give it a try!

PSJ Acting His Butt Off
elc200511 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Let's start with the obvious. PSJ is 10/10 beautiful, gorgeous, funny, perfect comedic timing, and I just believed everything he said on screen so much so that I am once again, head over heels in love with him.

Secretary Kim was my first dose so I already knew he could do all this but I wrongly assumed that an earlier work would show some flaws. Baby no. He just knows what he's doing.

That said, this drama left me stomping my feet like a child. (spoiler starts) The action we got in an earlier episode compared to the typical kdrama style "all build up, no fireworks" that we got when our couples got together was extremely frustrating. I really needed Ms. Meatball to down several Sojus by episode 15.

Final thoughts if you're still with me. It was a great show that will be on my list of rewatchables. There are some painful moments that PSJ played so well I may just have to skip cause I hate seeing my Boo down so bad 😞 but otherwise, I love the storyline. I love how nothing feels forced. And the ending felt very realistic. It would be great to get an updated season 10 years later! I see them adopting children from the orphanage after he becomes a doctor and she has her own NYT equivalent column in Korea.
