I started watching this show a few months back because i heard Joe Kenda on a radio show and couldn't stop listening to him. I've watched quite a few of these shows and enjoyed them all and haven't ever done a review (with hte exception of asking a question why this show has premeditated murders getting half of a 34 year sentence served but some stupid teenagers botch a stick up and get life, i know i know, money and lawyers) but this one provoked me to a review. (im not good at reviews, proceed at your own risk) so the first half hour went normal. 16 year old found almost dead, mother dead. Thing that bothered me was Kendra was shown showing up with about a half inch of a smoke and throws it down and the close up is a butt. How i miss smoking. How htis show makes me miss the delicious delicious habit of smoking. Also i noticed the witness who went into the moms room saying she was following some water running or dripping sounds and then found the mother bleeding profusely. Then she screamed. But where was the water? (Just kidding, but yes a brutal slay scene. I felt horrible for the family and the mom for finding out on TV, thank you for Joe Kenda for pointing out vulture like nature of media.) So Kenda interviews people , finds out a girl witness saw a big older black guy leave the scene and go into a "Truck car". i was like "ohh its a Camino" and i was right. But all through his investigation to find out who this man is, and when he learns of the boyfriend and interviews his boss, who looks like a five food Weiner-y version of Larry Bird, he never asks, "oh does he drive a Camino". Thats something you remember. I never saw a black guy in a Camino , i thought it was for Rednecks, i sure as hell never saw a Guy in a suit in a Camino. Stuff like htat should give him up right away. So Kenda finds out that the house he just learned about is where a situation is and it involves waiting for a swat team. Out of his jurisdiction, he goes to the boyfriends surrounded house and hangs out. There's a man with a gun, perhaps an automatic, perhaps booby traps, everyones waiting for the swat team but Kenda walks around to scope it out . Look there's a Camino, lets keep walking , still may not be our guy. He stops , kneels down by the dead body of his wife to inspect it, looks here and there, swat team shows up. And they find more than they bargained for when the open a door as it cuts to commercial. Yes he's dead after commercial break.
HE is kneeling and blood is dripping out of his mouth and nose at the edge of a bed. he has a small bullet hole on his right temple. The reenactment shows him shooting himself in the left temple. Kenda once said, "a bullet goes in your head like a dime but comes out like a cash register". Awesome and i wondered about htis. Maybe different calibers matter but i found it odd. Also reenactment of the whole crime showed him in his car and the steering wheel was really skinny, didn't think Caminos had skinny ones like that, figured thicker, and it showed him shooting the mom just once from a six foot or so distance, not twice in her back.
Overall good episode. love these. i just felt like reviewing one .
