When it was released in 1992, My Cousin Vinny was both a critical and commercial hit. And in the over three decades since it hit theaters, it has only grown in stature, becoming one of the most significant films of the decade. Part of the reason for that was the incredible chemistry shared by co-stars Joe Pesci and Marisa Tomei, who earned an Academy Award for her performance in the movie. When the film was released, Pesci talked about some of the things he liked most about making the movie, including his favorite scene and that chemistry with Tomei. (Click on the media bar below to hear Joe Pesci) https://www.hollywoodoutbreak.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Joe_-Pesci_Funny_My_Cousin_Vinny_.mp3 My Cousin Vinny is available on DVD, Blu-Ray, and most digital platforms.

Many a chef will tell you that fish and cheese don’t go together, but “Blue Miracle” says otherwise. Based on the true, headline-making story of an amateur Mexican team who won the world’s richest fishing tournament in 2014, Julio Quintana’s likable family film misses nary a cornball trick in Hollywood’s underdog-drama playbook, and just about pulls it off.
Viewers can see precisely where Quintana and co-writer Chris Dowling have embellished the saga of Cabo orphanage proprietor Omar Venegas, who led a handful of his teenage wards to that unlikely victory: “Blue Miracle” is awash with eleventh-hour peril and contrivance, reducing characters to stock figures to make plain sailing of its crowd-pleasing narrative. Audiences are unlikely to mind as they discover the film on Netflix: It’s a processed fish stick rather than a blue marlin steak, but it fills you up just the same.

A dingy apartment door is kicked in from the outside and a slick-looking detective bursts in brandishing a gun. Bullets fly, kicks are roundhoused, and the cop is put through an interior wall, resulting in his arms and fists fighting off one foe, while his flailing legs dispatch another in the next room over. This choppy, exaggerated melee is not the typical beginning to a film selected for Cannes, even one in the occasionally genre-friendly Directors’ Fortnight, and though it’s quickly revealed to be imaginary — a bedtime story told to a little boy grieving for his dead hero-cop father — the tone of merry lunacy sets the bar for Pierre Salvadori’s “The Trouble With You.”
The loopy plot follows Yvonne (Adèle Haenel), a police officer on desk duty who, two years after the death of her cop husband Santi (Vincent Elbaz) inadvertently discovers he was far from the crusading...

Jose Levy’s Creative Andina and Mexico’s Lemon Films have jointly acquired the remake rights to 2006 French romantic comedy “Hors de Prix” (“Priceless”) for Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Peru and Colombia.
Deal was closed at Cannes with the original’s producer, Philippe Martin of Les Films Pelleas.
Pierre Salvadori helmed and co-wrote the hit comedy starring Audrey Tautou, best known for her breakout lead role in “Amelie,” and French-Moroccan stand-up comedian/actor, Gad Elmaleh.
The romantic comedy turns on a young woman who latches onto wealthy men to maintain her luxurious lifestyle. She mistakes a handsome waiter for a rich patron, but when she realizes he is penniless, she teaches him some gold-digging skills. Inevitably, love triumphs over the trappings of wealth.
The feature was hailed by Le Point magazine as “one of the best comedies of the year” in 2006 to which it “owes a lot to the performance of...

The traditional fall season of award-season releases gets a late start on Friday with “Moonlight” (A24) and “The Handmaiden” (Magnolia) leading the way. It can’t come a moment too soon.
This weekend, top-quality films “Certain Women” (IFC), “Christine” (The Orchard), “Miss Hokusai” (Gkids) and “Aquarius” (Vitagraph) competed in limited openings. All nabbed good or better reviews. But none scored at the level likely to lead to the sort of wider response and multi-million grosses that normally come along regularly at this time of year.
The weakness can be seen among later-week grosses as films expand. There hasn’t been a breakout crossover release of any significance since “Hell or High Water” (Lionsgate), which is still grossing better than most recent releases.
“Shin Godzilla” (Funimation) showed strength with a midweek opening in a mixed plan of bookings. Similar to “The Beatles: Eight Days a Week” (Abramorama), out-of- the-box distribution seems to be finding positive results.

Human trafficking is not a situation that happens only in overseas countries in Asia, Africa or Europe. In fact, many people don’t realize human and sex trafficking is happening here in our own backyard.
Priceless is a very dramatic, truthful and emotional fictional film that brings to light on this very sensitive subject. Base on true stories, the film follows a driver who later discovers his cargo is actually two sisters from Mexico. He delivers the girls to a prostitute pimp in the United States. This weekend Ben Affleck adds his star power to the faltering fall box office. His action thriller “The Accountant” (Warner Bros.) boasts the best chance to land atop the Top Ten this weekend, ahead of two other wide openers: comedy “Kevin Hart: What Now?” (Universal) and Mattel actioner “Max Steel” (Open Road). But if it falters, “What Now?” might be an upset winner.
Happily for studio accountants, all three films are at the low end of budget ranges, all economical enough to make profits more likely. But theater revenues could fall 20% or more from the same mid-October weekend last year. Last year’s Top Ten totaled $109 million. This year’s should fall short of $100 million.
Last year also saw three openers—”Goosebumps,” “Bridge of Spies” and “Crimson Peak” (ranging from $24 to $15 to 13 million respectively)— along with strong holdover grosses for “The Martian” and “Hotel Transylvania 2.” Every position this...
