- There are a number of set-piece battles between the Rebels and Imperial troops.
- In one scene, Mr. Sumar is killed when Thrawn forces him to test a faulty speeder bike, which explodes, explicitly killing him.
- A Scout Trooper is killed in a similar manner when his bike overheats and explodes after exceeding a certain speed.

- Thrawn's role here is to terrorize the workers into ending their sabotage of Imperial weapons. The means he uses to do it is to have live tests of all work, with the builder him or herself testing, to lethal results if their sabotage is revealed.
