Another lovely Christmas special, this time going to Scotland, good storylines and many heartfelt moments.

Warning: Spoilers
I only wish that, in the latter part of the 2019 Christmas special, Reggie had been allowed to specifically *not* meet the requirements for the Guinness entry. Not because of the portrayals of ambition, or optimism, or the merit of a genuinely happy ending. Those things were nice to experience. But in order to frame Violet's feelings about the subject in a more helpful way. She and Fred have been wonderfully supportive family for Reggie ever since the responsibility first fell to them. And Violet's feelings about the World's Records ploy are valid and understandable. But so are Reggie's potential feelings of disappointment, embarrassment, and frustration in undertaking this challenge. As mentors, guardians, and parents, many of us understand the challenges of balancing our own trepidations against our charges' potential experiences. In this case, Reggie might have to face the let-down that Violet fears. But the experience would not be a traumatic one. Emotions are signals that encourage us to renew or alter course, and to learn. If Reggie had failed to get into these world records, he might still have learned more about the parameters of life's challenges, his own limitations and strengths, the values of optimism and realism, and even more empathy for others in society. I'm just a little sad that the show failed to showcase this value.

Strange timing

Leaving town at the holidays with short notice, again? This would be a great story to a series; not the Christmas Special. And Sister Mildred is just about the most annoying person. She speaks in blustering sentences and can't read a room. She steps all over people and demands her way when she has no idea what's going on.

Absolute drivel

Ridiculous storyline. This terrible episode has ruined CTM for me. I can't watch it anymore. How did the writers get away with such unbelievable nonsense.
