IASIP does meta episodes better than anyone
comedyfish20 October 2021
This is the kind of episode I really like, when the show takes (in this case) literal potshots at itself.

I wonder whether the (laser) Quest thing is a reference to Rob's other show I cant believe its a coincidence as everything about this clever.

Protecting their (audience) base

Doing things different that they find funny vs keeping their older fans happy etc

getting the money vs careers in other shows

I actually think though a lot of this meta commentary is about other comedys going on too long for money as I don't believe for one second these guys would keep doing this of they didn't love it so Its more of a nod to fans that THINK they are just doing it for money.

Anyway amazing finale it would be a great way to end the show but then the last few seconds reveal the guys are going nowhere!

Probably one of my favorite episode of the show
A perfect combination of beautifully done homage of Beckett's Waiting For Godot absurdism and playfully incorporating it into Sunny's greatest strength of characterisation, with the theme of repetition and banality around sitcoms they build since ever without being overly expository with their critical attempt like some of their recent episodes. This episode is like the culmination of their recent experiments since Season 11 and i wonder where will they go from here.

Waiting for Big Mo

Warning: Spoilers
This was one of the best Dennis performances of the season. I was dying of laughter when he kept talking about "Rutherford B. Crazy being crazy" but overall it probably wasn't a finale a lot of us will remember.

It took me a while to pick up on the metaphor.

Warning: Spoilers
Started this episode and had no idea where it was going. Seemed like they were just ending on a bottle episode due to budget reasons. Then, Dennis' speech hit me like a whiff of Charlie's shoe cheese. It's about how they're branching out in their lives (specifically Kaitlin and Glenn with other shows) and the hate they receive for doing so. And, how people are mad at them for the show not being as good as the 'first X seasons'. Those people are all fat, "Big Mo's". But, Always Sunny isn't going anywhere! Here's to the next 14 seasons!

Simply Brilliant
zorrodg-316-23833023 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The setup is simple: the gang plays laser tag. The entire set is about 20 square feet in a children's fun zone. But in those 20 minutes the gang gets brilliantly reflective, waxing poetic on their legacy as a comedy show, the respective careers of its core cast members and what the future might hold...all under the guise of "playing the game."

The fact a show in its fourteenth season can remain as expertly executed and fresh as Sunny has is a feat very few shows have ever accomplished.

To put my sentiments into the context of the episode, here's an open message to the Gang: You can end the game whenever you want, or find a new corner, but damn does the base appreciate that you're still guarding it.

Cheers to a perfect season 14!

This season didn't need salvation
cartsghammond21 November 2019
I've enjoyed season 14... a lot, I think every episode has been a distinguished and hilarious ride. This is a bottle episode that doesn't stop with amazing writing and laugh out loud jokes. Charlie and Dennis is one of my favorite dynamics so this episode was a treat, but the whole cast had their own funny moments. This season was above and beyond what I expected, and I hope this show never ends, cause I have faith that they would be able to keep this show just as good, forever.

Missing the Point
btoews9 April 2021
The GOAT sitcom started in Season 13 (which was still quite strong) to emphasize Self Referential writing and premises at the expense of funny. This spin on Waiting for Godot would be the ultimate example of that. The entire Season 14 (compared to previous seasons) was more interesting and creative than funny-I realize this is how you get approval from media critics but the show seems to be losing its focus on comedy.

a superb metaphor about the show!! needs to be watched twice
JonanthanNewOrleans29 November 2019
The whole story, everything they refer to, they comment about is a metaphor about the show!

playing the game is the show itself, Dennis says how good they are at this game, how this game makes them big money, etc...

METAPHOR about the show so the episode shouldnt be taken on its first layer you have to look at the subtility that they are talking about the show not about laser tag.

I love this show but the finale didn't do much for me.
quevedoyoel21 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The laser tag setting really screams a fun episode, but really you might grow anxious of something new to happen besides Dennis and Charlie camping in one spot. Basically the whole episode is in one spot which if you think about it makes sense why someone like me might find this boring and others as well. The dialogue helps it, but I was really hoping for more the entire episode. If they would have cut off to what Frank, Mac and Dee were doing it would have definitely enhanced the rest of the episode. Edit- Yes there's a metaphor that's being reviled overtime, yet it still isn't that great of an episode for a finale lets be honest here...

I love the show but like others most of the episodes this season I found under whelming. If you liked the season that's great but I just didn't feel it for a majority of the episodes.

FORGET BIG MOE - Keep playing the game
kajsijakajsijakajsija22 November 2019
Wow. Just wow.

If you think this episode was bad, you clearly didn't understand it.

The way this show communicates with its audience and trying to get their message across while also making something incredibly funny is just amazing. I've never seen anything like that on tv. Although, that's not surprising because IASIP always was that one show that's different from anything else we've ever seen.

This episode definitely changed my point of view. Go have fun guys, you deserved it. You have our support and we'll always keep watching!!!

The Great Metaphor!
alinuaemi-2819422 November 2019
Excellent episode. I think there's a metaphor in this finale which is about the injustice the series gets from Awards ceremonies (Primetime Emmys, Golden Globe etc..) and how they feel oppressed and how they beat this feeling with enjoying themselves, enjoying the series & having fun instead of give a damn to win or lose, reminds me in S09E03 "The Gang Tries Desperately to Win an Award". Also referring in general to anything you do in life is for fun without exhaust yourself about winning an award or losing it and when you are into a competition you better be happy from the first second instead of pressing yourself all the time and at the end when you win then you can be happy which is totally wrong path. This episode represented each character as it is really, Dennis and his power delusion, Charlie and his stupidity and tendency of having fun out of everything, Mac & Dee and their vulnerability towards critique & compliment respectively which makes them do anything the critic & complimenter wants and Frank with his food obsession & how his desire to feel important makes anyone fool to do what they want if they made him feel so, all these characters exist in our societies and been represented perfectly. Much more good and funny parts in this awesome episode.

The only bad episode of the show.
NeonRust4 May 2022
As with any great show, not every episode can always be perfect. And this is what I believe to be the only "bad" episode in the entire show. There's one or two episodes I don't think are that great, but really they're still at least decent. This is boring. There's no laughs to be had. There's just nothing here.

IASIF. Not going anywhere
dawgs02048827 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Each season I'm afraid will be the last.

This season has been fulfilling, and glad to see the team has no intentions of going away.

I hope the show gets credit at some point, but fans have grown to love the show for what it is, and a voice that is not as PC as other shows put on.

It took me a while to understand the metaphor, though be it the end with the speech and the team holding their base.

Cheers. And I'll always keep watching.

Nothing...
alencar_darwin27 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Nothing. There's nothing. All means nothing. Nothing happens.

Well? Shall we go?

No! We're going nowhere.

It's Always Sunny finally surpassed its predecessor. Yes, it's all nothing, but let's try again. And not fail better.

I hear nothing... (but the cries of "Worst episode ever" "Not funny" "Sunny is ruined" "Only fanboys liked this" -- yada, yada, yada). The strange thing is: this episode (and the whole of the 14th season is very vintage Sunny). This is after Pim, but does it matter? While most sitcoms drag themselves lame in mud Sunny surfs on the surface.

If Waiting for Big Mo was the series finale it would, in my opinion, be the greatest sitcom finale of all, though one must admit that sitcoms endings aren't usually good (to say the least).

Belacqua Bevilacqua It's Always Sunny.

This episode is a treat. Borrowing from the famous post-modernist play the Gang do what they always do: someone have a ridiculous idea and everybody just go with it without question. Laser Tag? Seems like any other nonsensical activity about which the Gang obsesses and blow out of proportion and press to the point of becoming meaningful after its previous triviality. It's great.

We get to see Dennis in high form, berating and manipulating the Gang into do his bidding. The Gang submits to Dennis' stratagems in the game of laser tag in place of enjoying the childish fun of the situation so they can win and gain some fake currency which is used to buy useless knick-knacks. A power trip to Dennis, of course. All of this as chamber play in a single set.

People giving one star in some website won't diminish the creators of Sunny genius and inventiveness. (And neither do they need the approval of people, who like me, rate most episodes high).

Is Big Mo God? No, if he was they would have called him so. Is Big Mo Sunny's critics (mostly neck-bearded incels vlog or blog ranting)? I don't know. Maybe. Does it matter?

No.

They do not move.

Staying true to their roots

Great episode where the characters show how their truly portrayed to be. Dennis goes full sociopath mode and everyone else contributes greatly. Small setting but big comedy from the best group in comedy

Watch A Second Time
binz4517 February 2022
Now that I know what this episode is really about, it's pretty great. I didn't realize the first time that it's a metaphor for the show itself. It's clever, and watching it with the metaphor in mind totally changes the episode.

I highly recommend giving it a second shot with the focus on the metaphor for iasip. Also look up the meaning of "Waiting for Godot" - that'll help explain some of it.

Great Parody
jpapps-4779719 February 2023
For those who haven't read the play "Waiting for Godot" I would highly recommend it. It is a piece of Absurdist Comedy by Samuel Becket (1953) allegorically exploring/questioning the purposefulness of life.

They do a fantastic job in this episode of parodying the play keeping it fresh, funny, and insightful. Of course the whole point of the original play is that the characters are waiting for someone who will never arrive. As Godot is symbolizes an inherent purpose to our lives that will never come to us as long as we wait, and so Godot never shows up. However, this episode presents a meaningful twist to the original story with the arrival of 'Big Mo'.

Great episode!

Just not interesting.
creator3015 June 2020
Big mo was a big letdown and so was this episode. Huge wasted opportunity with the awesome setting of a lasertag place. This show is falling victim to itself. Not creating anything new anymore.
