Madonna: Lucky Star (1984 Music Video) User Reviews

The viewers/listeners are not as lucky unfortunately

Here we got the music video for the Madonna song "Lucky Star" from 1984, a truly special year. This one runs for 4 minutes approximately and has Madonna and some dancers in front of a white background most of the time. It is a very simplistic film, but sadly the artist's outfit is just the opposite and it's not working out at all from the visual perspective. Madonna was still in her mid-20s at that point, so it is certainly from the very early stages of her career. Her brother Chris is in this one too. The director is Arthur Pierson and according to IMDb, this is his only collaboration with Madonna. But he still worked with other really successful acts like R.E.M. for example. Back to this one here from almost 35 years ago. The video did not impress me and the song isn't particularly catchy, let alone memorable either. Easily among Madonna's weakest efforts I've come across. But it's fine as she was probably just finding her style at that time. And that was essential for reaching the greatness she did later on. Still a thumbs-down. Not recommended.
