Nadia Fares' Cinematic Triumph: A Deep Dive into Women's Roles Across Cultures
realone-126 October 2023
Recently, I was engrossed in a documentary by the prodigious Swiss-Egyptian director, Nadia Fares. This film intricately weaves the narrative of women's roles predominantly in Egypt, with a captivating glimpse into Switzerland. From the onset, it's clear that the documentary is a labor of love; its editing is pristine and the composition is second to none. Engaging and emotional are perhaps understatements for such a piece that instills in its audience compassion and a profound understanding. The highlight of the documentary, for me, was its nuanced exploration of the evolution of Egyptian society, accentuated by the in-depth portrayal of Nawal El Saadawi. Nadia Fares has created a masterpiece that beckons viewers with its authenticity and emotion. A must-watch and highly recommended!
