Very nice

This is one of the best episodes I've seen in television so far. It reminded me so much of breaking bad with how well the tension was built up until that final scene.

You know an episode of a show that you recommend to someone who hasn't seen it as yet? Well this is that episode for Castle Rock. So well written with the right amount of spooky.

It's not complicated but there is mystery. Noel did an amazing job in this episode. Such a good actor.

Masterfully Crafted!

This is by far the best episode in Castle Rock (so far). I don't have much to say about The Box because it's a near-perfect episode. The tension built from the opening scene and kept rising till just before the credits roll. The Box is also the most though-provoking episode, so far. I couldn't help but keep thinking and trying to solve this well-crafted mystery. The character of Dennis is creepy and its development is high-class, and Noel Fisher delivered a terrific performance in this role, particularly in this episode. The acting, in general, in The Box is at its peak, and from every actor/actress involved. Sissy Spacek also shines in this episode, as she, finally, had a chance in one scene to show her acting abilities. Even the music has been utilized very well in this episode. Just some moments of " I've seen that before" that kept me from giving this episode ten out of ten, along with one single uninteresting and unnecessary scene.

Wonderful, tension-filled episode, the best episode yet. The tension builds from the beginning to the end and leaves you gasping. Wow!

Castle Rock - The Box

Warning: Spoilers
The rampage at the end, a shocking and jarring as it was, is all the more potent in just how well orchestrated it was, shot through the use of security monitors as Zalewski, after learning from Deaver that he would not pursue litigation against Shawshank, instead opting for settlement, moves throughout the prison with a gun firing upon each and every security guard depicted throughout the episode abusing prisoners. But was it actually Zalewski killing them? Towards the middle of the episode, Zalewski is confident that Deaver would bring publicity to and ring the bell loudly on Shawshank's rampant corruption and abuse, "bumping fists" with prisoner, Skarsgård. That phone call, though, between Deaver (who is struggling with seeing his adoptive mom and her "fog" and the man who is there for her, Pangborn, always reminding him that he left her behind) and Zalewski changed the young man with a baby on the way. Something triggered him: but what? Was that fist bump a "transfer of evil"? That was a question that popped in my mind anyway. That was a significant moment for the entire series up until this point, but there was other goodies including a gnarly (and creepy) visit to the rotted abode of the potential captor of Henry during those "lost eleven days", whose brother (played by Dark Shadows' David Selby!!!) is a barber, and Molly Strand trying to sell the house of a recent decedent whose ashes in an urn still remained inside (including all of the previous owner's possessions!). Selby is an incredible bit of casting, giving off this sinister vibe, revealing to Henry (who is visiting the place on a hunch as memories of his captivity seem to be coming back to him in brief "bursts") files that were dumped/scrapped by the police department in the garbage! Molly trying to work realtor magic while inside a house--still reminding anyone with interest in it that it was very recently occupied-is hilarious, particularly her efforts to hide the urn...the husband's interest in a painting on the wall and seeming disregard for how freshly on-the-market was the house is the icing on the cake. The piano with the splinted floor above it at the Desjardin home and the quick scene from the Twilight Zone episode, "The Howling Man" (for this TZ fan, a major rush!) on a television pass give us cool bits to celebrate. The tension between Deaver and Pangborn is quite an ongoing aspect to the show as is Ruth's bouts with dementia and unyielding resistance towards leaving her home. Molly and Henry's complex relationship continues to be such a rich component for the series.

"I see things sometimes too."

Warning: Spoilers
This episode complicates the mystery of Henry Deaver's (André Holland) childhood disappearance and the subsequent death of his pastor father. It draws Molly Strand (Melanie Lynskey) further into the mystery as well, her apparent ability to see and hear things manages to eavesdrop on Henry's conversation with Josef Desjardins (David Selby) when the man shows Henry his own discarded police file from 1991. I thought the episode made it kind of ambiguous as to Josef's real identity; he claimed to be Vince Desjardin's brother who fled Castle Rock years ago after being questioned about young Henry's disappearance. Yet his conversation with Henry seemed to suggest that Josef was actually Vince, so future chapters may help clarify. Molly's invitation for Henry to stay the night seemed out of character for both, but any relationship apparently would be cut short with Henry's decision to return to Texas. The surprise ending to this program saw Dennis Zalewsky (Noel Fisher) going berserk following Henry's message about canceling a court hearing and accepting Shawshank's offer to release The Kid (Bill Skarsgård). The KId's influence is felt once more with the murder of all those prison guards before Zalewski gets taken out to put and end to his rampage.

Warning: Spoilers
It is not really clear where they are going with Henry, it seems like he flip flops and says one thing and changes his mind moments later, but with him at the forefront of tonight's show it was another good episode.

The ending was wild. I didn't see it coming, but it was the kind of thing you expect in an action movie, not here.

Stupid ending
dtminasian8 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Been really enjoying the show so far, but for the prison security guard guy to go on a rampage was completely unbelievable considering he was just saying how he has a child on the way and has to keep the job to raise a family. Nothing warranted that killing spree. (unless it turns out he was under the knuckle touch influence of the devil or whatever)
