A documentary about lost love that will make your bones hurt.
stupidtom199124 June 2018
This episode is a triumph in documentary filmmaking. Nathan was able to achieve something amazing in these two hours. Like all great documentary films it leaves the viewer feeling deep human thoughts about our own time on this planet. Our own mortality, our own choices. Our capacity to love and to regret. Anybody who has ever loved and lost it has a little bit of Bill in them hiding somewhere. Parts of this episode hurt, truly hurt. You'll feel it in your bones. It's also beautifully optimistic and one of the most sincere insights into love that has ever been broadcast. Especially on Comedy Central. Maybe i'm just soft because i've been hurt and suffered in purgatory, waiting on someone that was never meant for me but i feel that everyone can take something away from this episode. Truly amazing work, thank you Nathan.

A Masterpiece of Television

I will not give away much here. This was HANDS DOWN my favorite episode of Nathan for You, a show which has lots of fantastic episodes. Unlike many of the previous episodes, this one focuses on deeper, more thought provoking topics. I found myself contemplating over many aspects of my life while watching this episode and you will too. This was not as comedic as previous episodes of the show; there were certainly moments where I burst out in laughter, but for the most part the episode took on a serious tone. In fact, certain parts were really difficult to watch (In a good way). I would recommend this to anyone who wants to watch a masterpiece. I'd also recommend you watch previous episodes of this show before you've watched this one. I would put this up there with the greatest episodes of Television. Nathan is a genius, able to depict real life experiences in a awkward, yet sincere manner. I may never be the same after watching this.

Creative, poignant, humane, hilarious; The final "Nathan for You" is a true masterpiece of Television
pere-2536621 May 2019
What an incredible finale! Helping "Bill Gates" search for and find his long-lost love, 'Finding Frances' is a culmination of everything that made Nathan for You (2013) such an incredible show. It's hilarious at times and touching at others (quite rare for an episode of this show, which almost always sways more towards the former). The old adage goes that comedy equals tragedy plus time and this episode deftly shows this, forcing its viewer to contemplate their own life and the regrets they hope don't plague them. It's a masterful send-off of an incredible show I'll sorely miss. Thank you Nathan for sharing your wonderful mind with us all!

Best episode so far

Nathan took it to the next level with this one. A true accomplishment. At first I was a little underwhelmed, because I was expecting another "Hero." But this episode is longer and deeper. While the laughs aren't as gut-busting, the moments of poignance made it all worth it. Honestly it watches more like a feature length film than a TV show.

Warning: Spoilers
One of the best episodes of television I've ever seen. I'm reminded of the later seasons of Louie when the show goes slowly from comedy to drama. This episode probably had the least laughs per minute but had by far the best story and by the time I got to the phone call in the car scene I was absolutely enthralled. The scene felt like one of the most REAL things I've ever seen on television; even Nathan seemed to be on the edge of his seat. I never thought a silly show like Nathan for You would bring me close to tears but when Bill called the actress and she recognized his voice (a clear throwback to Frances not recognizing it), I almost shed a tear. Brilliant stuff.

Amazing, truly 100% amazing

Whatever I write cannot do this episode justice. It's too good. It's too good for this world. It's sad, happy, hilarious, bittersweet, and blurs the line between reality and fiction. Just watch it. You won't regret it. This may be the best thing I have ever watched. I don't want to write about the episode because it would spoil it.

An enthralling story filled with enthralling stories
dakotaremartin17 November 2017
This episode is an excellent episode of television and a respectable feature-length documentary. While there are laughs, the whole ride is oddly emotional and deeply thought-provoking. I won't spoil anything here, but it's a great insight into life, love, and regret.

...all from a weird show on Comedy Central. Go figure.

Moving & Touching. A Real Triumph
jackr218 November 2017
I wasn't expecting this to hit any truly poignant notes, as the majority of the episodes of Nathan For You I've seen in the past, have been almost purely comedic. But this hour and a half special was one of the most moving things that I've seen on TV in a long time. Nathan manages to get Bill to show so much of his regrets, his joys, and his hopes. And along the way, we get more of an insight into Nathan's own character than I've seen previously on the show. Truly fantastic stuff.

One of the best episodes of the show

Warning: Spoilers
After I heard about Nathan For You and watched one episode I was completely hooked, and binged watched the entire show for two days. I felt like the last episode although not sticking to its usual format was really inspirational. Sure it wasn't as funny as previous episodes but it had a story that was heartfelt and pure as it showed both Nathan and Bill finding what they had been searching for, but not in the most conventional way. Throughout the whole episode Bill was looking for his long lost love but instead ended up with a look alike of her that was meant to help him interact with her, in a sense it was quite ironic. Many people didn't like the side story of Nathan with the escort, while unusual i felt like it tied up the series very well, as he found what he was looking for as well, because throughout the whole series Nathan was looking for love and someone to spend time with, and he found it in the most unusual place, he wasn't even expecting to find someone because he was trying to find Frances. It completed his character arc in the best way as i felt that as he does things unconventionally throughout the whole series in the end he completed his goal of finding love unconventionally.

Most humane thing I ever saw on TV

Warning: Spoilers
Both stores amazing. I actually would've cry if episode ended instead of a drone shot with black screen after she asked if they can turn cameras off or just to show that the crew is going back to leave Nathen and Marice alone. It would've show us that Nathan came to her not to film but to actually date.

1st half great...still trying to understand the point of the 2nd half
geeboy3717 June 2018
Let me start off by saying that I think this is a fantastic and hilarious overall show and on top of that incredibly unique since I couldn't name many other shows that do what Nathan does.

However, the last episode of season 4 was completely different than any other episode which was fine up until about half way into it. At that point I feel it really lost its way(even Nathan admits it that he feels he wasn't sure what the episode is about) and didn't really do much but show Nathan meeting an escort over and over again showing extremely uncomfortable interactions to the point where we are forced to watch Nathan awkwardly kiss the escort many painful times( By the way, he said the escort was 350 a pop so the fact that Nathan admits he hired her at over ten times amazes me). They do go back a couple times and revisit the Bill Gates impersonator trying to find his long lost love but the episode did not need to be 90 minutes since even with that storyline I feel there was way too much meaningless conversation.

I have to reiterate that this was the only episode of this show I didn't care for since the rest of the episodes are insanely brilliant.

This is the most heartwarming episode i have ever seen in a long time. It makes think about life throughout the episode. It was a very special thing to watch. Nathan spent his time helping people. He is a very kind person and lovely. I can't believe that this is the end of my favorite and unique show...

An excellent documentary even if you have not seen the show, but if you saw "Nathan for you" before seeing "Finding Frances" a great experience awaits you.

Where in the World is Frances Gaddy?
scottsetchell28 March 2019
Nathan helps his friend Bill Heath, the Bill Gates impersonator, track down his long lost love Frances Gaddy. Having nothing except Bill's memories as clues, they set off to Little Rock, Arkansas to dig up his past.

This hour and a half Nathan for You season finale is truly special and one of the best episodes of the show. Bill's lust for Frances is fueled by his regrets and wishes to make things right, even after not hearing from her in over 50 years. His reactions after finding clues build up to an emotional climax, which ultimately makes him realize she's lived a fulfilling life of her own without him.

Nathan also finds a love interest along the way. He meets a call girl he originally had set up for Bill, but he ends up enjoying her company, despite the cost. Each meeting gets more intimate until they decide to meet in private. It really feels like he's sincere in his interactions with her.

If this is in fact the last episode of Nathan for You, he ended the show on a very high note. I'm excited to see his future projects and what he has in store for us.

I am 29 and have a similar story to Bill. I can really see myself in him one day, if I don't talk to her right now. I Must. I have 9 grand children waiting.

Oh man, I've been watching and enjoying this series for a while, and the last episode stuck with me. Something resonated with me to feel in touch and emotional with this episode as opposed to the other ones. Definitely a must watch. I'll be honest, I did shed a couple of tears.

This is one of the highest rated episodes of any series for a reason...Even if you don't watch the show this is still worth it.

I didn't actually like the first episode of the series much but it was so different it kept me watching and it only gets better. Well worth the investment.

Garbage
13Funbags15 June 2018
Not only is this the worst episode of the show, it's movie length. An hour into the extremely boring story, they just change subjects and it's about Nathan falling in love with a hooker. I really liked this show up until this snore fest.

Finding Frances a Review
ThatFilmDude4221 October 2020
From the minds that brought you the show 'Nathan For You' came a feature length episode called 'Finding Frances' it is a 2017 documentary that sort of plays out like a story driven movie. The host Nathan Fielder tries to help a Bill Gates impersonator by reuniting him with his long-lost love from his past. This documentary plays out like a multi-genre movie. This documentary mixes the different genres: Mystery, Thriller, Comedy, Heist and some aspects of horror. It plays out like a cinematic movie. it has three different acts with an unexpected payoff at the ending of the documentary where it all comes full circle in a way which you do not expect. You meet many different characters on the journey to find Frances and with the people who they meet they help them to get to their final goal and to eventually FIND FRANCES.

SPOILERS AHEAD

The way I look at this is that Nathan is trying to help this man find his true love and Nathan Unexpectedly found love along the way. There wasnt any in depth plots, big action scenes or a massive betrayal it is just about human nature and our need for love. I think theres something wonderfull about that.
