Had a lot of potential
visual_addict6 December 2021
The story had so much potential which was definitely utilized but not up to the potential.

It is a good crime/romance series to watch. Good story and acting in a very short period of time, so very watchable.

Some plot holes left due to the short timing but otherwise a very good mini series that you can definitely give it a watch.

Fun but dumb

The story had a lot of potential but unfortunately it wasn't too well executed. The characters had no depth whatsoever besides their vague backstories. They did have a lot of cute scenes together, and the actors had chemistry (though the acting wasn't on point at all times) but I didn't even really understand what they love about each other, besides both of them being gay and attracted to each other their relationship wasn't really flashed out well.

For the most part I felt like I'm just watching a mid gangster movie with some softcore p**n scenes. Besides the cute scenes their relationship had no substance and that took a lot away from the plot and the "plot twist". The action scenes were good, and if the twist was developed better I would have loved it. But we didn't really get an explanation and what came after that was just.. confusing. It's not really a spoiler- one of the main characters did something bad and the other found out and felt betrayed (rightfully so) but then on the very same day it wad just solved, forgotten, forgiven. It felt like there were no stakes, no consequences and didn't make much sense, no sensible adult would just let something like that gonin a day.

About the "gangster" side of the story, again there were some parts that didn't really make much sense or were not well developed. And then by the end the whole thing just felt rushed, the ending was absolutely unsatisfying.

I still gave it a 6, regardless of its flaws it was a fun watch, I'd recommend it if you're just in the mood to watch a mid bl with some action scenes. If you want something deep or want to get really invested in the characters, don't waste your time with it.

Mild spoilers

Warning: Spoilers
The people who reviewed before me already said pretty much everything I wanted to say. There is great chemistry, and very cute moments. I, who watched Queer As Folk without even blushing, was a little bit taken off guard by the intimate scenes, although they're nowhere near porn.

I too, felt that the story was lacking. It's a pity they couldn't give it more time. It did have a lot of potential. The acting was more than decent. The plot twist would have worked marvelously if the characters had had more depth, if the relationship had been more about love than attraction, if only we could pinpoint the moment when the "plan" was put into motion. From the very beginning? Then how come Wild Dog starts to fantasize about Flying dagger/Black rose when he knows what he will have to do in the end? Doesn't make sense. Or maybe, like he said, he didn't know then what they actually expected from him? Hm. Too many things are left unexplainded.

Still. I loved it.

A Korean BL version of Mr. and Mrs. Smith
schorschi10010 May 2024
Something different compared to your average Asian drama. "Long time no see" is a Korean gay version of Mr. And Mrs. Smith, in which two hitmen fall for each other, and then have to face their competing bosses. Woo Suk Tak and Seung Ho Yeon acting performance is decent (contrary to the secondary characters, unfortunately). The story is rather simple, and although it follows a cliche, it is a nice change that this not the typical Asian melodramatic plot, but rather an action packed (well sort of), mafia plot with an unexpected brutality (although not too much compared to today's Hollywood standards).

In summary: A little bit of romance, a little bit of action, and some skin make up a pleasant evening with a Hollywood-like happy end. No real plot surprises, decent acting and cute faces. Who needs more?
