Could You Hate Carmichael More?
GB6525 April 2021
I don't understand the antipathy towards this series. It may look to have started slow but what are you meant to do? This episode sums up everything that is good about LoD. And Carmichael....... I'm not sure I've ever hated a TV character more. That face just........ nah, best leave that. Wonderful stuff.

Great for an avid fan like me, torture for a casual viewer.
Sleepin_Dragon7 May 2021
In all fairness, the quality we've been treated to from Part 3 onwards was astonishing, but we all knew it was impossible to maintain. The penultimate episode is just a little too heavy, and a bit overlong, they have in all honesty squeezed just a little too much out of the series.

I did think it was good, my family found it boring, I loved all of the mentions of previous episodes, this is going somewhere towards linking all of the random jigsaw pieces together.

Acting, once again, quite astonishing, Anna Maxwell Martin was amazing, a loathsome character, but those facial expressions were tremendous.

Hastings once again wins hands down with the sayings Jesus, Mary, Joseph, and the wee Donkey, brilliant.

For a penultimate episode, I felt it was a little subdued, I wonder what's in store next. 7/10.

Don't understand
m-mcmillan4526 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Why did Kate not just hand herself in after shooting Ryan Pilkington? She was on duty and they had tones of evidences against Ryan being a bent copper. I don't understand why she wouldn't hand herself in especially after sending Steve a message and calling him prior to meeting with Jo and shooting Ryan in self defence.

BBC PLEASE RENEW INDEFINITELY
paulsarah-1406926 April 2021
For those who give low ratings do they not appreciate a series established as this with such a track record. The writing is excellent and the cast exceptional. 13 million viewers can't be wrong and there are so many different ways the series could go. Everyone may have their ideas but let's see what happens next Sunday.

Hopefully soon after we will hear it's been renewed for at least 2 more series.

This is one of the jewels in the BBC Crown.

Excellent show, but something unexpected happened...
jneiberger-112 June 2021
...and that is that I almost stopped watching because of how awful one of the characters is. By that I mean she is a horrible, truly hate-able character. The actress plays it so well that it's almost too much for me. It's quite a feat to make me hate a character so much that I almost wanted to stop watching the show. Perhaps they laid it on a bit too thickly.

It's a great show with quite a few twists and turns.

Although if I hear the phrase "no comment" one more time, I'm gonna start flipping some tables.

So close to the truth
bissett-5682125 April 2021
Well, this episode gave us an intense car chase, a long interview mainly consisting of the words 'no comment' and new Tedism's from the gaffer.

We are so close to the truth and finding out who the fourth bent copper is!

One more episode to go. It was a generally enjoyable episode. 9/10.

Roll on next week!

AC12 uncover key information relating to certain events but push for more.

This is a strong episode that provides some answers and sets up the finale nicely.

It begins with some rather baffling scenes that show two characters in a situation that for me feels quite contrived to be overly dramatic and suspenseful.

From here there is very little I can say without spoiling aside from that I think the best scene (as is usually the case in Line of Duty) comes in the AC12 interview room. As always, the staging and acting of this scene is very good.

The writers do a great job of tying up the main series 6 case, providing reveals about other aspects of the show's overarching narrative and laying the foundation for what comes in the finale.

Kelly McDonald is excellent throughout and the other cast members are on great form.

I love Line of duty, it's ability to keep us hooked with complicated storylines and thousands of characters is amazing, but watching someone say no comment for 60 minutes was painful! An extra episode was added to this season, they shouldn't have bothered! Mother of God they had better tell us who H is by next week otherwise I'm likely to murder someone myself.

A episode which is full of red herrings
rstenstrom29 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I'm a bit disappointed really with this episode it was full of red herrings and dragged out sequences. The beginning with Jo and Kate attempting go on the run was dragged out. I understand why Kate was running because she thought she might of been investigated for killing Ryan even though it was lawful as she is a trained firearms officer and their was a threat to her life. But the sequence with Jo and Kate was dragged out and answered nothing.

Talking about answering nothing, the long 29 minute interview scene with Jo was impressive but answered not much detail and got a bit boring as she was just constantly saying no comment. Then we got Patricia Carmichael which I don't think is H the fourth man, however everytime Hastings brings it up she changes the topic or tells him to stop. My theory is that I think she doesnt trust Hastings and the rest of AC-12 because she still thinks Hastings is H or that he is in someway corrupt. However one thing I've gotta say is that Carmichael is bloody amazing shes so annoying but I like that she is this way as she's supposed to and you can tell Anna Maxwell Martin puts all this effort in to make her bloody annoying. It really makes me scream at the TV.

Marcus Thurwell which I think is the biggest red herring in the episode because I just dont think they can cast an actor like James Nesbitt in a brilliant role and kill him off with actually having any lines. I think he's still alive and was probably disguised as an Spanish AFO or he's gonna appear in flashbacks if not and he is dead I will be disappointed as he was brilliant in Bloodlands Jeds other show with him.

Overall I dont think this episode should exist they could of just shorted it down to half an episode but I feel like this episode wouldnt exist if it wasnt for Covid. There are so many questions the final episode has to answer because its looks like the finale which I hope a seventh season gets confirmed.

All questions that need to be answered:

Who is H the fourth man or women?

What will happen to the anti corruption units?

Will ted retire?

Will steve be suspended because of his drug addiction?

Is Chloe bent?

Is Carmichael bent?

Is Osborne bent?

Is Lomax bent?

What will happen with Davidson?

Whats the deal with Marcus Thurwell?

Will the bent coppers in Blackthorn prison be caught out?

Who killed Gail Vella? (If not Carl Banks) What will Kate do next?

Off the tracks
gnkelly-9732227 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The single most disappointing episode of this great show. Always tightly scripted and gripping, this episode totally lost the plot, literally!

In a minor slip up, having beaten us all over the head with the "CHIS" in early weeks, for procedural accuracy of course; this week's episode got just about every Scottish legal term wrong.

The truly unforgivable flaw though was the massive plot hole in why oh why did Kate run? She shot a criminal sent there to assassinate her. She shot him with a gun issued to her because of the threat he posed. The whole Thelma and Louise story is just illogical nonsense and completely spoiled the whole episode.

Episode 6.6
Prismark1025 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The ratings for this series of Line of Duty has demonstrated that linear television is not dead.

Clever use of cliffhangers by Jed Mercurio had ensured that.

Poor Ryan, two shots to the chest. He will never be able to damage anyone's fingers again.

It leaves Kate and Jo on the run. Carmichael is right behind them care of bugging AC-12's cars.

It leads to another terrific interrogation scene with Jo. This one seems the longest one yet.

I do wonder if next week's finale will be the final ever episode of Line of Duty. There seems to an element of all the threads being tied up.

Hasting's seems to have reached the end of his tether. I thought he was going to jump out of the elevator.

I will chuckle if James Nesbitt's appearance only amounted to a few photos.

Less Crime thriller more Time filler.
xmasdaybaby196626 April 2021
After 2 too quality episodes, this was an utter disappointment - more crime filler than crime thriller with a 29 minute interview that could have been cut out and saved on the bonus episode next week (generally, the final episode in a series is given an extra half hour but the final installment will be the usual episode length.

For those reading this before watching the episode, save yourselves almost half an hour by fast forwarding from 18.40 to 48.00 of the programme.

The show has run its course.

The hype behind this series has given it good viewing figures.

Itv succumbed to the hype by putting up episodes of another past-its-best show, Midsomer Murders and old James Bond films believing it couldn't compete, giving in to BBC in the ratings war I look forward to seeing the episodes of McDonald And Dodds and new drama Grace that they pulled because even the as breaks in those shows would be better than this.

I watched this the day after the TV screening. No wonder no-one was talking about it at work today.

I have binge-watched all 6 series in the last couple of weeks and this was even worse than what the below-par series 5 had to offer.

If it wasn't for next week being the series finale then I would definitely (DEFINATELY?) be watching the Bond film next week.

A great series with an episode blip
mrvaibhavpanchal-9040126 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is possibly a blip in what I would perceive as one of the greatest British shows of current time (apart from sherlock).

None of the events made sense. A dragged action based car chase which isn't what the series is about. A way too lengthy interview which took a lot of time to get the pieces together.

There were too many fillers in this one to ignore. I wished they would have used it as the big reveal and then later episodes to unwrap and to tie up the pieces.

Hope the next one is as sharp as rest of the series.

A waste of an episode
bookadog26 April 2021
The whole Line of Duty series has gone on an incredible arc. From the Anti Terrorist shooting, the OCG and 'bent coppers' it has kept me hooked. Season 6 really tested my patience as the easter eggs, the twists and the turns and the suspense was either massively contrived or incredibly convoluted. If an episode were to sum up everything wrong with this season, then it is this episode. Slow, boring, painful to watch and not worth making (yes I know they made the series during Covid). They could have missed this episode completely and it would not have harmed the story one bit. When the season began and I was left feeling flat, a friend of mine recommended Unforgotten - if you haven't yet, you should, that series never loses its way and is everything I wished Line of Duty could become. For a good representation of summing up how I feel, see the life and times of Ryan Pilkington.

Nothing happens
alisonb1234526 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Well, this series has not been the best, and this episode was certainly underwhelming. We learned nothing really and it felt like most of the episode was Jo's interview with her saying No comment to just about every question. We are getting a bit tired of the cliched lines from Hastings, so much so that it's becoming a laugh. And I'm afraid Steve Arnot is a wooden as ever delivering his monotone dialogue.. let's just get the answers we need in the last episode please, and put this series to bed. It's had its time. Also agree with reviewer above. Unforgotten on ITV was a lot better!

Jesus, Mary and Joseph...
db-722051 May 2021
After a somewhat promising pickup in quality in episodes 4 and 5, episode 6 utterly drops the ball. A pointless wheel spinning episode in which nothing new is gained or learned and the momentum the series had built to this point screeches to a grinding halt. Characters behave in illogical and baffling ways for the sake of drama, other characters are dropped unceremoniously as though the writer got bored of thinking of ways to keep them relevant and the thirty minute long "no comment" interview scene is mind numbingly boring and uneventful. Truly a sad state for one of the BBC's last great shows to have fallen to.

What happened to this show?????
jensus-121 May 2022
Hastings is completely useless this season and could there be a more annoying character than Charmichael-she is the absolute worst!!!. I was so looking forward to this extra season but it was a convoluted mess! Doesn't square with the evidence I'm afraid!!!

Honestly....
guysalisbury28 April 2021
The acting in LOD is next level AWFUL! Maybe it would be better if they had a decent script to work with, but the writing is just TERRIBLE! Fair play to the BBC hype machine for tricking people into thinking this show is good, but honestly, I think it's some of the worst original content to come out of the UK for ages. If they want to learn how to create twists and turns with interesting writing, they should watch shows like The Undoing or Breaking Bad.

You can't tell me this is the end Warning: Spoilers
Ian Buckells cannot be anything more than just a typist for the messages of organized crime. Did you see his hand shaking when he was trying to pour milk into his tea? What Lee Banks said about rats. Buckells had that weird little grin in the last scene like the cat that swallowed the canary. I think he was glad to get into the vulnerable unit away from the scary guys. Then use James Nesbitt as the picture of Thurwell. Come on it has to come back! I know that I can't wait, this show is the one of the best TV has to offer. I wait and wait for this TV series to come back DO NOT LET ME DOWN!

Did not live up to the terrific ending of episode 5. Not really much going on with a pretty implausible start. Not at all good.
