Electronics got wet?
fh_35 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It's a boat. It's a spec-ops boat. These are spec-ops gear designed for wet environments. They were not even submerged. They would have been stored in for the drop. Poor writing.

Uber. Not the best name for the character.
Maddy-the-Weinerdog12 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
They should have called him Gilligan.

They pay a guy $40,000 to drive a boat, because special forces doesn't have anyone who can drive a boat? Uber is so good, but his one job is staying in the boat. Uber leaves the boat. Really? And somehow Uber ends up being farther away from the boat then everybody else. Everybody. His job was staying with the boat. Duh.

So what happens when the others get back to the boat. They drive the boat away, because pretty much anybody with eyes and a hand can drive a boat. Money well spent.

They came up with some ridiculous story about Uber needing to fix the fiberglass on the special forces boat, because it had a minor leak. The bilge pump was working, and boats of that size will not sink, even if the entire seating area is filled with water.

Why did Uber and the other special forces guys need to parachute in, and then meet Jack and Greer. Why didn't they fly into the airport, and rent a boat and truck? I assume boats and guns and sneaky guy stuff are available in Venezuela. I'm sure Venezuela also has radios that can get wet, unlike the mickey mouse radios the US special forces seem to use. Lol.

I'm loving the show, but this episode had too many stupid events to be excused. I was just trying to enjoy it, without picking apart every detail, but they are making to easy.

Good Suspense in Mission Up the River
lavatch12 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This action-packed episode resembles Conrad's "Heart of Darkness" in the journey up the river in the Congo. But in this series, the journey is up the Orinoco into the heart of darkness in Venezuela.

Marcus Bishop has decided to join the special ops force leaving from Tampa. A boat is dropped from the plane, and the parachuters land in the water below in the drop zone off Venezuela. During the splash-down, the communications devices incur water damage that will have fateful consequences at the end of the episode.

As Ms. Gloria Bonalde sees her children off to school with ham sandwiches, she is then taken to her political headquarters where she is warmly greeted like a benign version of Eva Peron. In a speech to the crowd, she reflects on the loss of her husband Sergio, who was declared a "missing person" like so many other dissidents in the repressive Reyes regime. She her rousing speech with a reference to the patriot Simon Boliver and his clarion call of freedom! Max Weber's theory of the power of the state is cited at a celebratory party for Gloria. Ensconced inside the Miraflores Palace, Pesident Reyes slowly comes to realize that Gloria is capable of winning the election.

The mission up the river proceeds on schedule with Jim and Dr. Jack linking up with the boat piloted by Marcus Bishop, who goes by the nickname of "Uber." The goal is strictly IRS: intelligence, surveillance, and target acquisition. The goal is to learn what armaments are being stashed in the forest.

The recon team's goal of avoiding "cowboy stuff" turns into the law of unintended consequences when Dr. Jack lingers too long in one of the storage containers. The crates do show up positive on Dr. Jack's geiger counter. The race is now on to leave the compound and to return to the boat with a party of the paramilitary unit in hot pursuit. Unfortunately, Uber has left his post to provide cover for the returning crew members. As a result, he is left behind as Dr. Jack and Jim are ferried to safety. In this episode, there is no sign of Lina/Lee Stein/Harriet Baumann/Harry. Her presence was desperately needed in the voyage up the river.

Thrilling and sharp.
cruise0113 November 2019
4 out of 5 stars.

The episode is intense. With a new presidential candidate running for president in Venezuela. Strikes the current president to fight back politically. While Jack and a paramilitary group are trying to search the containers in hostile territory.

The episode is thrilling. Exciting and kept me on the edge of your seat.

Uber (a trained combat soldier) getting off the boat?!?
BruceWayne314 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Come on. This episode was great until a special ops guy decides to leave his post for no reason. I hate when shows force a story. They did exactly that when Uber got off the boat.

Quieter

Warning: Spoilers
A quieter episode. Some character stuff and a river trip by boat which reminded me of RAMBO. Some of the characters act in dumb ways and there's no big action climax which makes this feel a little anticlimactic compared to the previous two episodes.

Who wears white pants to a night raid on an enemy encampment in a jungle? The same person who can do so and keep them clean! I could excuse the radios and Uber screwing up but the white pants? Never!

Why did Uber get off the boat?
codsteven5 November 2019
He had one job. Stay in the boat. He saw people coming and he should have stayed in the boat yet here I am watching Uber run around in a circle and then have a surprised pikachu face when he came back and they left without him. I just don't understand why he left the boat. There was absolutely no reason for him to leave. At first oh he's gonna provide cover for them in case of an ambush but there was no ambush and he kept running so then I'm thinking oh he's gonna ambush them from their rear. No. He ran in a circle for no reason. I'm just confused by this. Uber cancelled.

Not very authentic/believable.
irishmonster14 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
*SPOILERS AHEAD* Ok, I am a big fan of this series, but this episode contains too many problems to ignore.

First, no ISR team consisting of SEALs and CIA operatives would behave in the way these did. Using crappy communications that fry if wet on an amphibious insertion and mission? No.

Using bright flashlights at night? No.

Uber leaves his post? No.

This episode is poorly written, but I suppose it works for character building.

Really Not Impressed......
wandernn1-81-68327429 July 2020
Okay everything that happens in the first 2/3 of this episode is pretty boring.

But when Ryan and Greer join a night raid thru the jungle. I'm calling some severe annoying with the logistics of this show.

Clancy at least put some real teams of soldiers on the ground in Clear And Present Danger. I see people at Ryan and Greer's level using assets like that and not actually joining the assault force.

-2 Stars for the annoying logistics of it all.

And El Presidente Reyes deals with all the subterfuge going on around him.

Greer finally shares with Ryan about his heart condition.

What happened here
rickrozemuller1028 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The dialogue and plot went south very quickly on this episode. Truth is that TV-series are never consistently good but especially the infiltration of the enemy compound in this episode is a joke. Character decision making and perception are below that of a three year old. The worst possible writing and directing really came together in this episode.

Jack of all trades-master of none
owamibuy15 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
There are a some critical flaws in planning and portrayal of a recon operation - 1) Never wear tan khakis when doing a jungle infiltration by night, 2) Don't let a CIA analyst/agent ignore an experienced operator on an op, 3) Take comms equipment on operations 4) have contingency plans, 5) three men with rifles and two with pistols is insufficient fire power if anything goes wrong...especially if man is 48 or older and couldn't complete a PT, 6) Use locals not a 6'2 white American for reconnaissance in an armed camp of 50 people-less conspicuous, 7) someone needs to have your six if you don't come out. There are teams better suited to this than an untrained agent.

No comms on an ISR op...really?
dennisfrapp2 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I'm no military expert, but for the plot line to exclude basic 2-way radio communications among a 6-man CIA-sponsored ISR team headed deep into the jungles of Venezuela, without any air support, seems contrived and juvenile. Of course it's needed to prompt Uber's irrational and otherwise unexplainable dereliction of duty (leaving the getaway boat he's been hired to drive) and thus set up Ep. 4 (which I'm not planning to watch due to my sudden lack of enchantment with this show) which will most likely center on the team's need to rescue Uber from the bad guys. I'm done with this series.

Orinoco
bobcobb30126 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This show needs to make it more clear what the actual mission is and not just present the "villains" as generic corrupt politicians. Give us something we haven't seen before because this just feels like a bad version of Narcos.

Lazy
akaslammin14 February 2020
Lazy writing and plot. There are silly unbelievable clumsy plot points throughout the episode to force the story. And none of the characters are very likable. It is a pity, it is entertaining but it could be so much better
