It was just too much...

Of course I found myself sitting down to watch the 2018 movie "Necropath", as it is a somewhat zombiesque movie of sorts. Had I heard about this movie from writer and director Joshua Reale prior to sitting down in 2021 to watch it? No.

Well, "Necropath" is a strange movie, a very, very bizarre and offbeat movie. And for that sake alone, then "Necropath" is not a movie that will find an easy appeal with everyone in the audience. Now, I am a lenient viewer, but I found "Necropath" to be an annoying and boring movie.

Annoying in the aspect that you don't really know what is going on, and the movie is shot in very dark locations, which obscures most of what is transpiring on the screen. And that made me feel annoyed with the movie. I don't sit down to watch a movie that is shot in near darkness. And also the fact that the movie was almost devoid of dialogue just made it even more boring and difficult to sit through.

The storyline was just a scrambled heap of confusion that made little or no sense most of the times. And that didn't really bode well for the movie in any way. And I have to admit that my focus quickly shifted from the screen to my phone. And with next to nothing of any worth or interest actually happening, the movie was prolonged and unfathomably boring to sit through.

Visually, then I will say that "Necropath" was interesting. They had opted for some interesting visuals, with a good amount of blood and such. But it was a shame that the movie was shot in near darkness, as it obstructed most of what you would see on the screen.

As for the acting in the movie, well... Let's just say that they tried, and leave it at that.

For a zombie movie, then "Necropath" was not cutting it. It just simply had little appeal to me. And for a horror movie, then it was just an abominable swing and a miss.

My rating of "Necropath" lands on a generous two out of ten stars. If you enjoy zombie movies, don't get suckered in to watching this 2018 movie, some of us did, so you don't have to. This is by no means a movie that I would recommend you wasting your time, money or effort on. And it most certainly is not a movie that I will return to suffer through a second time.

Confusing and underwhelming experimental zombie effort that's not worth watching
kannibalcorpsegrinder11 February 2021
In the midst of a viral pandemic, a group of people try to maneuver through the confines of an urban landscape as psychotic, zombie-like psychopaths run wild throughout the streets and must try to get away and survive the deadly situation they've found themselves in.

There are some likable elements here but it does have some problems. The overall look and feel here with the dark and gritty atmosphere present in the urban landscape creates a wholly impressive setup here. Given the brutal nature of the kills and action shown throughout here with the constant scenes of the zombies approaching and battling their victims or even showing the stalking of the victims throughout the area leaves this one with a gritty tone that goes along with the brutality featured in the kills which all manage to work for this one. There are some big issues here. The main problem with this one is completely discordant storytelling where it's nearly impossible to tell what's going on. With no setup to what's happening since we're just dropped immediately into the scenario where it's nearly impossible to get an idea of what the situation currently features with barely anything is revealed. With a series of just random and unconnected activity happening throughout the film it manages to just leave a sense of confusion as to the whole situation. The other issue here is the overall jarring presentation that offers up way too much experimental work that doesn't make the effort watchable. The general lack of dialogue, rapid-fire crosscuts, close-ups and bizarre camera setups that emerge here don't make this one enjoyable at all since these additions just seem to exist for the sake of existing with no real point of the purpose for their inclusion. The most important factor here is that the film doesn't make sense because of its creation while the flashier aspects don't help this factor at all.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence and Graphic Language.

Like nearly every movie on here it's better than it's average score.

While I understand that this movie isn't for everyone because of the minimal dialogue and equally minimal lighting I think both of those things work in this movies favor. It's a zero budget movie but unlike others where dialogue and poor special effects put a spotlight on the tiny budget the darkness and the dialogue in this film only hint that this was made for a buck fifty. I'm guessing many of the reviewers didn't watch the complete movie and stopped as soon as they had a snarky title and then filled the review with the same crap they use to trash all movies in the hope that someone at IMDB or some website notice the non stop condescension they spew at every film and pay them. It's not a great movie but it handles the lack of capital very well and if you watch it without your nose pointing to the ground from the start you can enjoy this movie.

Unique and entertaining

Really cool and unique look at a pscho junkie having to function in a zombie apocalypse. Budget restraints, but they made do and produced a good movie.
