30 Years After Part 6...
LoyalLackey5 January 2021
Vengeance is a fan film with a really cool premise: opening with the scrapped Elias Voorhees ending for Part 6 where Elias visits Jason's (empty) grave. The plot of the movie retcons everything after Part 6 and takes place 30 years later in 2019 centering on descendants of some of the survivors from the previous films. When they bring in familiar names like Henry Manfredini, CJ Graham and Steve Dash, you know they made a remarkable effort.

There are some awesome callbacks for fans of the series, but be warned: it's really cheesy... even for a Friday the 13th movie. Still, I have to recommend it!

Good fan film
johngilders9 December 2020
This is the first Friday fan film I've seen and I was pleasantly surprised. The acting is a bit cheesy but in a good way. Reminds me a lot of the older films. A few characters made me laugh with their jokes. The deaths were better than I expected. Well worth a watch.

a solid idea that ends up...for the most part being generic
craftboytde14 September 2019
B- pros:this wasn't a fan film, this was an actual film with great cinematography. the acting for the most part was rally good. I actually cared for some of the main characters, though only a couple of them. I like the whole tour at crystal lake aspect with the show. I thought it was neat. I think this film does do somethings new, has Jason Voorhee's father killing as well and Jason is pretty scary himself. I thought this was a quite scary and intense and entertaining film, only 94 minutes long. also the kills are very brutal and are amazing. cons: The rest of the acting and characters aren't very good. the main teenager isn't too great and has some stiff lines. the rest of the characters were just there to die and have sex which they kinda do. they were pretty annoying and I was glad when they died. also some scenes were weird and a little amateur. the story even though is kinda new, generally feels the same for a lot of the film. some teenagers or people come to crystal lake and die. yea there's the whole revenge plot which is cool, but other then that, same thing. also a ton of the characters are only in a few scenes, take the sheriff, just gives orders then dies. also the inmates are just picking up trash then die. they are pointless characters. overall, this film is decent. good acting for the most part and great kills, but is generic and has lame characters.

Pretty good for the most part.
Chucky_Jr19 September 2019
Jason wakes up after 30 years and goes on another killing spree. Meanwhile his father is out getting revenge on the people responsible for his son's death.

For a fan film, the production values are very high. This is not something an amateur shot with friends in someone's backyard, but a film with professional directing, cinematography and special effects. They even went the extra mile of getting people who worked on the official films involved such as Steve Dash, C.J Graham, Harry Manfredini and Tom McLoughlin. Thumbs up for that.

The writing could've been a bit better. There are several things that feel random or poorly explained. No proper resurrection for Jason, he just suddenly wakes up. Elias' motive isn't consistent, he mostly kills people for revenge, but also random bystanders who never did anything to him or his family. Jason impales someone who later reappears unharmed with no explanation. The open ending suggests maybe these things will be explained in a sequel. But I would prefer it to mostly stand on its own without having to get answers from a sequel that isn't even guaranteed to happen.

Special effects were great. Lots of gore and inventive kills where little to no CGI was used. The costume for Jason was also good. They went with a custom silicone mask and a detailed and realistically aged hockeymask. My only gripes were that the black fabric in the eyeholes is often visible and he should've been much more rotted and skeletal after being dead for 30 years. But a full zombie bodysuit like in Part 7 was likely to costly for their budget, so I can forgive that.

Acting was mostly decent. The younger cast members do a good job for the most part, but real standouts are the returning actors from past films such as C.J Graham and especially Steve Dash. The latter is a blast to watch, and conveys the sheriff's annoyed and bitter attitude really well. This was Dash's final role and he went out on a high note.

Definitely feels like a "fan film" and not in a good way
starkrayz18 September 2019
I'll admit it's great to see CJ and Steve in their non-Jason roles, but beyond that, the majority of the acting is just plain awful to the point that it is often distracting. Technically, it's mediocre. Editing and shot framing look extremely amateurish and the kills have very little suspense to them and are clunky in execution. Storywise, there is little new here, aside from the Elias Voorhees angle (which had way more potential but was mostly squandered here).

Getting a low budget film off the ground is no small feat so I give them props for succeeding in that aspect. But, it's a shame the filmmakers couldn't use real actors in the key roles. Also, an experienced director, cinematographer and editor would've made all the difference in elevating this to a semi-professional production, instead of the high school quality we got.

What a disappointment
rakesh-1811925 September 2019
After seeing the teaser, I was expecting at least a decent film, but no dice. For the most part, the cinematography is pretty bad. It looks like it was shot on cell phones, even though it was actually shot on Red and Arri cameras. The lighting is simply terrible, and the camera work is pretty sloppy.

The kill effects vary between laughable and barely passable. Few are at all convincing.

The acting was wooden pretty much all around. No one really shows any believable emotion, though there's really no opportunity for anyone to show any real fear since there's no attempt at suspense. The kills constantly come out of nowhere; there's no pursuit, no stalking, no attempt at fear. Most of the scenes feel like they're skits that are only included for the kill.

There are a few girls who take their tops off for the sake of having girls taking their tops off. There's really no reason for it.

The editing is VERY rough. It doesn't fit together all that well, and the weak attempt at a story doesn't convey at all.

All in all, this film comes across as a high school project, but with less talent.

A fan film that doesn't manage to be more than that.
f_dallas1426 March 2023
The film has some alright moments but, generally speaking, is very amateur. The acting is not good and the direction is very basic. Half of the movie happens during the day, which doesn't help the photography or the atmosphere in general. The parts during the night are better but still not great. The sound is also very poor in some scenes. But honestly, I could overlook all that if it had a good story, but it doesn't. The script is an incoherent mess. For most of it, Jason is just walking around killing random people without a purpose, the characters are completely forgettable and have next to none development and most of the scenes are meaningless and copies of other movies of Jason. In conclusion, as a fan film it is alright, as a horror slasher film it is poor and, as a film in general, it is very bad.

Taking the Jason story in new directions
jackmeat14 November 2020
My quick rating - 6,2/10. This is far from your typical fan made movie. This easily could've had a theater release. All aspects of the slasher movies are done quite nicely in this. Starting off 30 years after Friday the 13th part 6, the story very fluidly and intelligently extends the whole Jason universe including aspects from the original flick and even the ones that came after #6 so it didn't act like those things never happened. Being impressed with the script of this was about the last thing I expected to happen but any fan of the series will be floored at the attention to details and the manner of keeping the story going while adding unique new elements. The kills are easily on par and sometimes exceed what we have seen before. If you decide to have sex, expect to die in this one as well. The body count is setup perfectly for them and everyone knows that staying together is a terrible idea and makes sure to separate every chance they get. All the beloved tropes are here, all the characters (welll, many) return so Tommy Jarvis will come into play as well. If that name rings a bell, you have found the movie you have been waiting for in the series. I know the acting is supposed to suck, but that is really the only low point here. I don't know how such a well made movie, looking so great, camerawise, editing, cinematography, sound, the whole production value sits at being a fan film. This is feature film quality and I hope there is a sequel.

Rather good...
paul_haakonsen31 January 2023
I had stumbled upon the 2022 "Vengeance 2" movie prior to watching this 2019 movie, and I really enjoyed the sequel, so I tracked down the 2019 movie as I wanted to watch it as well.

While writers T. C. De Witt and Mike Meade put together a rather enjoyable movie here with the 2019 movie "Vengeance", it wasn't quite as impressive as the 2022 "Vengeance 2". Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that "Vengeance" is a bad movie, far from it. It is, in fact, rather enjoyable, but it was just not the same level of production as the 2022 sequel.

The storyline in "Vengeance" is entertaining and nicely written, and it was nice to see that the story carried on straight over into the sequel. And that makes for some good continuity between the two movies.

The acting performances in "Vengeance" were good, and Jason Brooks definitely puts on a good performance as Jason Voorhees. Sure, it was cool that C. J. Graham was in this movie and the sequel, as he was the one playing Jason Voorhees from the "Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives". However, it wasn't something that had me all worked up, because the acting performances as Elias Voorhees (Jason Voorhees's father) was not all that outstanding. But hey, it was a nice touch for him to take on a role in these movies.

Visually then "Vengeance" is good, lots of blood and mayhem, just as it is supposed to be in a movie with Jason Voorhees. And as a 30+ something year long streak as a gorehoud, I was definitely entertained by what I saw.

"Vengeance" is a good addition to the "Friday the 13th" franchise, despite it being a mere fan-based project. But it looked and felt like something right in the likes of "Friday the 13th" part VI, VII or VIII.

My rating of "Vengeance" lands on a seven out of ten stars.

A well done addition to the Friday The 13th storyline
mrpo-5847615 September 2019
I thoroughly enjoyed this film from start to finish. I really appreciated the details in this movie and it didn't feel like I was watching a fan film at all. This film had all the elements of a Friday The 13th film and you could tell that the team behind this project are true fans of the franchise.

Even.tho this is not an official sequel, it's so well made and ties in nicely with Jason Lives and evolving around it's scripted unshot ending so nicely I have just one word to say.... "canon"

It's certainly Friday the 13th...and that's a good thing.
tkfreeker-5138318 September 2019
Just watch the film. If you are at all a fan of the Friday the 13th series, this film is certainly for you. It looks, sounds, and feels like it fits into the franchise perfectly. I am skeptical that this is really a fan film as I can almost guarantee you that later down the road, it's going to come out that there was something going on here because of all the stupid lawsuits with the franchise rights. At the end of the day, it's a solid. The whole Father/Son angle has not been used before in the franchise and this is nothing like what was connected between Jason and Mrs. Voorhees. This is actually a fresh coat of paint on a series that needed something new to breathe life into it. Needless to say, it's here. Good acting and well filmed, the people behind this should be proud. Hopefully we can get a physical media release of this. I've seen many of the fan films in this series and this one, hands down, is the best one yet and much better than that last "Reboot" that was put out by Platinum Dunes. I'm quite impressed and well entertained. You should see it.

Love this Friday the 13th fan film!
rrt-9596824 September 2019
This very special film from the fans for the fans of the franchise was great in my opinion. It has alumni from the franchise, Steve Dash's last roll, nudity, great kills, humor, and the premier in Blairstown on 9-13-2019 a Friday the 13th presented by the museum that I was a part of made it just that more special. The fans are keeping Jason alive during this long drawn out lawsuit.

A Fan Film For Fans
MikeMvrd9 August 2020
The story brings a different look and a continuous feel after Jason Lives, the fact Elias Voorhees (C.J. Graham) comes back giving a double threat with Jason Voorhees (Jason Brooks) into play with fresh ways to kill his victims, a familiar cast from the franchise itself such as director Tom McLoughlin (Jason Lives), C.J. Graham (Jason Lives), Steve Dash (Part 2). This film doesn't give a cheesey bad acting 80s slasher cliche of tone as many other fan films do. Granted others would suggest some improvements on the characters and story but for me it made me wonder the relationship between two iconic names in the same terrirote and rather how the story will change.

Jason Voorhees himself looks very descent with weathering, injuries, mask details of damage etc giving the audience that he has been where we expected him to be.

Based on story and character a second film is sure be interesting after seeing what happened in Vengeance.

The effects weren't bad at all! I think the movie was very entertaining, for being a fan made movie. nothing beats the original, but I don't think anyone would have expected this to be better. but as I said the effects were really good. thanks for an entertaining movie with my favorite killer jason.

One of the better fan films I've ever seen
richsuydam11 April 2024
Great storyline , not straying to far from the original source material .while trying to fill in the gaps and plot holes , loved the kills and Jason was on point , this pays respect to the principal studio films while giving a spin on Jason's " father " , who just just happens to be one of the greatest Actor/Stuntman to wear the Mask . The acting was good , the cinematography was good , and the soundtrack was really good as well . The movie kept us entertained and rooting for Jason as those that deserved to die were killed on screen and rooting for our final girl to survive and get away while Jason lives to kill another day !

Warning: Spoilers
This was way better than FRIDAY THE 13th part 4 and JASON GOES TO HELL which both had good parts but not like this movie - FRIDAY THE 13th : VENGEANCE had 3 flaws : #1: it needed to be longer by 35 minutes for a more detailed explanation of everything & #2: the NECRONOMICON would've been the FINAL DEATH for JASON VOORHEES because ELIAS VOORHEES used it to bring JASON back but it would've bound them so as long as ELIAS VOORHEES was alive JASON VOORHEES could keep coming back but it would've been great if JASON fought ELIAS and cut off his head with the machete & then JASON drops his machete & looks up at the sky and then collapses & his body turns to dust leaving only the HOCKEY MASK & MACHETE & CLOTHES on the ground & #3: TOMMY JARVIS should've turned up to burn the NECRONOMICON to stop anymore RESURRECTIONS.

This felt like an actual F13 movie, the third act was really going at it. But what I don't like about this is just the boring first act..
