I have followed the slender man case for years and like that they had the skeleton hoodie that Morgan always wore and the waterpark scene etc. Theres a lot of differences but similarities in it. I thought the girl who plays Emily kinda looks like Peyton. (God bless her) which is kinda eerie. Andd did anyone else kind of notice the music in the movie is like the theme from "the exorcist"? I thought they sound similar and creepy!!!

Story isn't bad, the rest is average.

As soon you see it's a Lifetime movie your hopes for a good movie sink immediately. I guess this one was one of the better ones even though there is a lot of negative things about Terror In The Woods. First of all the title, with a title like that I expected some horror but that you won't get unless you're afraid of about everything. Then you had the acting, some were better than others but overall it wasn't great. The sound editing and cinematography could have been better, but that's apparently always the case with Lifetime movies. I don't know why, but after one minute into a movie you can already tell it's a tv movie, every time, over and over again. The positive thing this time was the story, it wasn't bad. Children and their wide imagination could lead to some awful things, in this movie it's well portrayed.
Good movie but far from the truth

The actors were amazing in the film. The little girl who portrays Peytain was a little over the top but they were spot on the other two. I think the father with schizophrenia really made the movie that more interesting. Followed this case since the beginning. Very indifferent about how I feel about the crime and the sentencing. I think it would of been more interesting to put the sentencing and after sentencing....maybe horror in the woods part 2?
Best lifetime movie ever

After seeing the previews I was super hyped to see this movie. Two new friends develop a deep obsession with a fictional character and in a way to please this character they must sacrifice a friend. After getting their friend to go into the woods while playing fairy, Dragon, and monster the girls are ready to attack only one backs out while the other uses scissors to stab the friend repeatedly and leave her for dead. Takes 90 minutes of back story to get to this point. The girls realize what they have done. One blames the other and vise versa and they rake off to find the fictional character to figure out what to do.
poor acting

This is a stupid movie and I wasted 2 hours of my life watching it. Where in the hell did the "actors" in this movie come from? The plot is stupid and the actors are all HORRIBLE. Lifetime has gone downhill and isn't even worth watching anymore, they show the dumbest shows ever, I'm surprised they haven't picked up teem mom or ridiculousness, these shows fit right in with what they have been showing lately.
This wasnt bad actually

Wife loves lifetime so of course i stumble upon this. as i reach for the remote to do the alarmist any channel but this one move, there is this creepy kid that catches your attention. then there is another weird kid. hmm odd for a lifetime movie i think. very quickly you get that weird vibe about the two of them and start watching.
I will admit. Once you figure out this is a slender man story you will watch just to see if somebody will actually die.... simple as that. I know the movie attempts to explore insanity and serious issues but sorry, all i really cared for is if lifetime will actually off a kid in this movie. Maybe they do, maybe they dont. But i will say that. The ending is worth staying for and the final scene is a bit depressing yet creepy. Almost like they are setting it up for a sequel.
The good:
The bad:
Frankly i really can't fault this too much. it's entertaining and makes you watch it. what more can you want from a low budget made for tv movie? 8/10

The good:
- good acting, mostly.
- creepy and snappy characters. it has that gothic little miss sunshine type feel
- it's actually a semi halloween/horror movie
- near the end there is a scene during a speech that will make you question something about the whole movie. There is another hint about that same thing earlier too, now that i look back. i guess that's a good plot twist. I feel the director wanted to clear it up at the very end but the way it was done was actually open to interpretation. i usually write spoiler reviews but not this time.
The bad:
- lifetime movie. men are just about worthless here. all 2 of them.
- i find caithlins mother character a bit too forced. too wooden. cant tell if actress or just bad direction. i suppose they were going for the aloof overwhelmed type but she acts irrational in some key scenes. especially after you are told some of the backstory later on in the movie. you will see what i mean.

The Suzerain Sees All!

Warning: Spoilers
"Terror in the Woods" was reprehensible in the way that the parents of two deranged kids were portrayed. There were clearly warning signs all over the place that the two besties, Kaitlin and Rachel, were heading for disaster. Yet, the filmmakers chose to depict the parents are unsuspecting and naive when they were actually irresponsible, dim-witted dullards.
There was one scene where young Kaitlin was making a drawing at a restaurant. If the parents wanted to teach the kid some manners, she shouldn't have been allowed to draw at a family gathering in public. The parents were only promoting the kid's anti-social proclivities. Then, the father Nathan, who has "a chemical thing in the brain" requiring a small pharmacy to control, chooses to place the kid's drawing on the home fridge!
In one of the most important scenes in the film, the intuitive teacher recognizes the deficiencies in Kaitlin's social skills, meets with the mom Dani, and informs her that there are likely environmental issues to deal with at home. The mom goes into denial and even uses for an excuse that her husband is fighting mental illness. Similarly, Rachel's situation, torn between an over-indulgent father and a hyperactive mother now separated from the husband, was equally dysfunctional.
The film was so unpleasant that it was cringeworthy, especially when Kaitlin and Rachel decide to perform the ritual sacrifice of one of their classmates to placate their fantasy overlord that is the product of their sick minds. The Suzerain may see all, but the parents of these kids were totally blind, allowing their kids to search for a magic palace of their imaginations, but ending up in the Georgia Detention Center for Girls.

Good Movie About Something Very Concerning
jimcarter19597 December 2019
This falls into the truth is stranger than fiction category. I have an excellent recollection of my interests/behavior and that of my friends at age 12. We didn't exist in some alternate reality. Our parents worked for a living and didn't spend the day at home zonked out on pills. Sports was at the top of our lists, along with an interest in girls. It's frightening enough that kids today are so off center. The really scary thing is the fact that society as a whole can't see that there's a staggering mental health issue, mostly in the United States. It's not just kids. I encounter adults who can't understand that the Internet contains a significant dose of fiction. This movie is technically a drama, but it seems like horror.

I loved this movie it is beautifully done and i definitely recommend this movie. This movie is so different then lifetimes other movies cause it was a very sad yet creepy story. I wish it was a feature film. My hats are off to the little girls I don't know any other little girls who could have done that They sured make a sequel with more sexual harassment turns the girls in the mental hospital.

For a Lifetime Movie, It was Great
mursa-705301 August 2019
Obviously this movie is based on the real 2014 case involving a scary Internet character and 3 12 year old girls. I've followed not only the lore behind the real character, but the real case. This movie does a great job of illustrating this case and the people involved. Most all details are parallel and it's quite interesting to see how respectfully they did it. The quality of this movie of course isn't high budget, but it's good. Sophie Grace is a phenomenal actress for her age. She played the part perfectly. It was sickening almost. I highly recommend this movie.
