Slow moving but ok Warning: Spoilers
The action doesn't start until over an hour in and in the mean time crazy Taryn just murderously whacks various people over the head with her handy dandy crowbar with such ease you'd think she was swatting flies at a summer picnic.

This movie is a good example of why all places of employment should do complete and thorough background checks before hiring to weed out the dangerous and the crazies. Even fingerprints too because they would've known instantly Taryn's felony record and prison stint and never hired her.

If you must watch this one just FF to the final showdown in the last 10 minutes---I wish I had.

Ok first part then formula

A warning about posting pictures on Instagram or Facebook is quite good. But the birth mother coming to get her daughter thing is done to death on Lifetime.

Unconvincing
carolynocean15 June 2021
Well, maybe I am just too cynical, but, , what never fails to amaze me is that , when a child goes missing in these types of movies , how composed and logical these actors are !!!, No panic, no tears , and casually putting up ' Missing ' posters as if the child was a missing dog !!!!!!

It s always the same , and , for that , I could not take this movie seriously.

What is it with the lack of emotion , and then when they do try to show anything, its always SHOUTING !!!!!

A thumbs down from me.

Not bad for a rough draft
tomfsloan2 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
A few more days of rewriting the script would have helped a lot. There were two things that I thought were actually good. One, the little girl, Annelise Pollmann, was the best actor in the movie. Two, the climatic ending ended well. There was no typical long drawn out stupid idiotic fight. Once the fight started, it ended quickly. Then the wrap up was as dumb as the rest of the movie. Detective Gomez was worse than the average lousy Lifetime movie detective. Don't count on him if you ever need help.

Just Terrible and Superficial!
dramirvf4 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The movie did not have a logical medical basis. They have described the biological mother as someone with psychosis and severe mental problems. But she did not show such symptoms and she was basically looking to reunite with her missing daughter. Murders could also be attributed to the rage within her, since her daughter has been taken away from her by force. Additionally, the way her address was found through social media was very funny. No one gives her address over there, especially if they want to be out of reach.

typical lifetime movie but good
AdrienneGrayceMusic8 June 2019
It was a good film, although I have seen this kind of story numerous times. They did a bad job of casting her husband. Did not like him at all, and his acting was horrible. Had enough suspense to keep me watching though.

Honestly, kill off the one black guy in the first 12 mins
DscreenG17 December 2019
Nope. Actually turned it off because it embarrassed me as a person in the field. I know this is on the Lifetime MovieChannel which is full of great oldies and newer life-based stories like The Archer, but this was so wrong. I am a huge fan of Sarah Lind and I'm sure she's embarrassed of the end product (perhaps that is why this movie has two titles- "Recipe For Danger" is the other title. I was really pleased to see this was written by a woman and directed by a woman; but you, writer, lost me at the very poor decision twelve minutes in to kill off the one black man. He didn't have a quarter of screen time but he was a well-cast, and believable Godfather to an otherwise very poorly acted, anti-chemistry family that honestly, nauseated me. I don't understand how the writer and director decided to white-wash the film while following the most overused and boring opening and arch. The other actors did what they were directed to do. Bree Williamson, in my opinion, has no place playing this role. It makes no sense. She has far too much of a plastic surgery face and would've been better suited to be an extra. I feel for the other actors and the cute girl. The daughter is the only other realistic actress in this video. Yes I said video. Why? In this climate of our country, we need to stop making terrible choices. And to the executive producer/s other than (Madam Bree) Sarah was a score but please never settle for this dreck of a video to waste her talent, production value, and your R.O.I.. To the little girl: You we're very, very, good and when you grow up, you can do whatever you dream! I hope you grow up and write a screenplay that makes you happy. If you do, I'm sure it will be even more loved than this video!

realistic and good topic
NijazBaBs8 March 2020
I liked this movie for having a good topic and presenting it in a realistic way. The story looks serious and real enough. It's all about relationships, family and health issues. This movie shows us how everyone can get angry, sick, and become a criminal. Actors look like real characters from real life, for example daughter looks like typical daughter, mommy like typical mommy, employee like typical employee, policeman like typical policeman, and psychiatrist like typical psychiatrist. Also unlike in worse movie this one at least got police and more places and characters involved. Better than those movies like Hushed that show only one place and very few characters. Locations look convincing and real. But except looking real and good topic, actors and acting still look amateur, no depth in actions, mystery, emotions. Can't be compared to CSI series. Maybe good movie for kids and women only, as it is not harsh.

Taryn the Bold
lavatch25 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
"Recipe for Danger" (a.k.a., "Fatal Friend Request") is a cautionary tale about the uses and abuses of posting on social media. A beautiful couple (Vanessa and Mark) have adopted a girl whose mother is a sociopath and recently let out of prison. Tina Jensen, who now uses the pseudonym of Taryn, is a good cook and applies for a job at Vanessa's new restaurant, the Merchant Kitchen. She then moves into action to kidnap the little girl, Lacie ("Little Bird") and pick right up as the child's mother, prior to her imprisonment. This dastardly act was enabled due to Vanessa's habit of advertising herself on the internet.

After nearly fatally stabbing her adoption case officer, Taryn goes on a killing spree, taking the life of Vanessa's right-hand man at the restaurant, Ricardo Gomez. She also murders the attorney who handled her adoption case, as well as her parole officer, Phil Anhurst. Her preferred method of execution is the knife. But she effectively wields a tire iron to send Vanessa's husband Mark to the hospital. And she makes use of a brick to knock unconscious Vanessa's best friend ("bestie") named Chelsea. She is also carrying a gun in violation of her parole board restrictions.

Given the background above, one would think the police would take an interest in investigating Taryn. But, because this is a Lifetime picture, the police have a complete lapse, including failing to put out an Amber alert on the Little Bird. Taryn has used her cunning to convince the child that her new mommy is "Taryn the Bold," who will protect the little purple princess "Patrice" from the goblins.

But the quick-thinking Lacie uses Vanessa's home-spun advice to say something kind to a bullies, which will disarm them. By showing a little kindness, the Little Bird and Vanessa triumph over the genuine goblin, who is displaced from her lofty position of master manipulator and rid the world of Taryn the Bold.

Another Chiller Thriller from director, Lisa France.
sfrance-946508 June 2019
Another nail biter from brilliant Director, Lisa France, and an outstanding cast. Tremendous performances from Taryn/Tina and Lacy especially. They really made their characters so real and believable. Kudos.
