Very different

I watched this movie resisting the temptations to check the reviews before .

I was curious what score it would get.

Surprised to see it's rated at 5.7 I guess This is a movie not for everyone's cup of tea.

Personally, I liked it because it's very different to other fantasy movies. It's a potential cult movie .

However, the story is developing a little slow.

On the other hand, casting is very good.

Music, décors are wonderful.

I guess to enjoy this movie, you need to look into your inner romantic side and feel for "Gaspard" who is falling in love with this beautiful mermaid.

Impossible love?

Most of the outdoor scenes are at night which gives a special character to the story.

This movie reminds me to Delicatessen and JP Jenet movies. Made me laugh a lot. Good actors, nice decors, I highly recommend it.

Loved it.

This was an absolutely amazing movie. I have not seen a romantic movie like this for a long time.

This is not an A-List movie, it is an eccentric B movie but it completely spoke to me. The music is also excellent which is very important.

Love hurts

A beautiful fantasy romantic comedy film, which tells the love story between an artist, who has difficulty finding his place in this era, and a mermaid who washes up on the banks of the Seine.

In an intimate setting, small attentions gradually give way to the exaltation of great feelings.

It's a film that smells of the last century and recalls the great era of French cinema, much to our delight.

Love you to death (?)

She has a killer voice alright (yes there is the pun you've been waiting for). I had no idea where this movie was going - and it really walks a thin line between being serious and dramatic and has this horror element in it ... and the romantic love story that may or may not evolve. One thing is for sure, even without her voice that bedazzles people, you can't blame anyone falling for her - her being the "sirene" of the title.

Good actors indeed and some minor nudity - though that should not really be something that matters one way or another. It did remind me of a joke my english teacher used to tell (and I reckon it can be considered sexist if you gender ... well her, which I reckon is a thing we do anyway) .. a fisher caught one, but let it go. Another fisher asked him: But why? .. and he responded But how? ... now you may see the innuendo/pun in there - some might feel that is a question you should be asking. Not one the movie is asking in any way shape or form (no pun intended with this either).

Cute but also traumatic for some of the people involved ... a drama then ... can you dig it? And no not fishing for another pun ... well maybe I am.

Most romantic impossible love story <3

Warning: Spoilers
"Une sirène à Paris," directed by Mathias Malzieu, is a whimsical and visually enchanting film that seamlessly blends fantasy with a touch of romance. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Paris, the movie follows the story of Gaspard, a heartbroken musician, who discovers a wounded mermaid, Lula, along the Seine. As Gaspard nurses Lula back to health, a magical and unexpected romance blossoms.

The film's greatest strength lies in its unique and dreamlike aesthetic, reminiscent of a fairy tale. The cinematography captures the charm and beauty of Paris, while the special effects bring the magical elements of the story to life in a delightful manner. The performances, particularly by Nicolas Duvauchelle as Gaspard and Marilyn Lima as Lula, are heartfelt and compelling, adding depth to their fantastical characters.

"Une sirène à Paris" also benefits from its whimsical soundtrack, composed by Malzieu himself, which perfectly complements the film's ethereal atmosphere. However, the narrative at times feels a bit thin, relying heavily on its visual and emotional appeal rather than a robust plot. Despite this, the film's charm and originality make it an enjoyable watch for those who appreciate a blend of romance and fantasy.

Overall, "Une sirène à Paris" is a beautifully crafted film that offers a refreshing escape into a world where magic and reality intertwine seamlessly, leaving viewers enchanted by its poetic storytelling and mesmerizing visuals.
