This movie was atmospheric in places but you can't buy into much of the story and there are way too many plot holes, for it to work successfully. One good scare does come along but for most of the duration, it's just creeping around in the dark. Saying that it did keep me watching to the conclusion.

Nothing new and no scares

In some ways this movie was quite enjoyable. It was easy watching with a reasonably interesting character build up. The scenery was interesting and everything seemed squeaky clean! I watched it through to the rather lame ending as it did keep me interested enough to want to see the conclusion.
It certainly wasn't scary or even very creepy. There wasn't a single moment that had me on the edge of my seat. The acting was only slightly above amateur.. just good enough to not completely ruin the story anyway. Actually John Lesser played quite a convincing performance.
It was well filmed but had nothing new to offer audiences and the story has been told so much better many times before.

5 nepo babies move into a crazy big historic house off their Hampton Roads college campus. Despite all five being students they only seem to hang around the house complaining about classes they never go to. It feels like the script was written by a 14 year old who's concept of college life is day drinking and screwing each other.
In addition some of the dialog makes you think the film is from 1984 not 2014. Apparently none of the girls can pass a class without flirting with a teacher. The guys probably can't either but it seems both of them will be working for their dads companies anyways. The only horror elements for most of the movie is just how awful all housemates are. Only one of them (Liz) isn't reprehensible as a person and she gets screwed over the whole film despite being a good person who helps her friend and is the only one of the five not cheating on their partner.
There is some vague semblance of a ghost story but it doesn't make much sense and contradicts itself in the film. It's quite clear that the only thing that gets this film any views is the attractiveness of the young cast. It's neither clever nor scary, and the entire thing is as unbelievable as it is annoying.

Oh boy was this a bad film or what, the ratings have to be false.
The good points: the girls acting in it were not bad to look at. That is it, the only good thing about the film.
The bad points, okay way to many but here are some: the jump scare scenes were not scary enough. The acting was okay but on some parts really bad. Not much happened even when something was happening. This film showed a way of not how to make a horror film.
So if you watch this, prepare yourself for just eye candy and nothing more.

Good ghost movie

I liked this movie after a while. Good pre-title murder scene, then slow for a while. Beach scenes reminded me a little of Baywatch! Then things get quite good. Relies mostly on things unseen, but then ghosts are mostly unseen aren't they! Bit of poltergeist activity. A couple of quite 'jumpy' scenes. Haunting music really quite good. One of the women is possessed by Civil War murder victim, but perhaps not the one you will suspect.
