Garbage mobie that somehow held my attention
19 February 2023
I'm not sure why I watched the entire thing. I guess maybe because I haven't neen very exposed to these super low quality US movies before so I'm fascinated and need to form an opinion. Bit honestly I don't know why people waste time making this stuff (money of course, although it's hard to comprehend how it can be profitable.) I'm giving it an extra star becaue the tempo of the movie was good enough to keep me wondering if there was going to happen something interesting, but no, other than taking some shots at corporations stealing our information and powerful money interests doing anything to make a buck this movie offers absolutely nothing. Don't waste your time. The few bright points are not worth it.

A letter from a broken culture
19 February 2023
Bullying, asenine behavior, kids with no supervision, or guidence in their life acting like morons and engaging things they are not anywhere near ready for. It shows the sad state of affairs for a of youth culture. The most striking thing is perhaps the absence of any adults. And it's not these kids fault they are like this. Whoever is responsible for them has not done their job and I suspect this movie is all tok real even though it's compacted a lot of this in an unrealistic small bubble. Social media and technology aren't helping kids like this, it's purely detrimental. It's kinda hard to get through this thing because it's very boring and annoying and lacks direction, but I think that's probably on purpose to show the chaos of the teens life. Either way, it's a depressing image of a generation without much hope that is exposed to and live through a lot of things that kids just shouldn't be and are mostly without respect, values or a future. Just sad.

Embarrasing for America
3 December 2021
Every now and then we get a thorough reminder of the fact that the people who settled modern American were religious zealots, and this is one of those times. This documentary shows how Janet Jackson was effectively taken down by grade A American double standard. While a lot of us Europeans found it amusing at the time how a breast could enrage so many people over there, most of us probably missed the deep dysfunction of American society the situation presented. The story told is a depressing one, and you'd be pretty cold hearted not to feel for Janet Jacksons fate from something so innocent. At the time the United States were producing about 94% of the worlds porn, yet they needed to have a governmental hearing about this. Oh, the irony. This documentary fits nicely in to a greater mosaic of films that should be seen to understand the American condition and why we hear so much about race and color from there and how the imperative to be morally superior on the outside rules many peoples actions. This film is a fair but superficial reflection on the absurdity of what happened during that fateful Superbowl half-time show, that offers a glimpse into the mind of America, not ground breaking in any way, but the content is important and the story is one that most likely will shine in very different lights as time goes by. If you're at all interested in any of these things I'd say give this one a go.

Gets it right, politically
22 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
For a while I was worried this episode was going to convey the message that it's ok for politicians to back out of sensible programs like needle exchange, that are proven to have positive effects for individuals and communities, and I loved that they kept me on my heels on this until the very end of the press conference where the message clearly changes to not being for this obvious thing can only be attributed to politicial cowardice. It's a sure sign of the times when a sitcom junkie like me goes for the politics in an episode rather than the jokes. Altough it may also be a tell of the jokes in the show not being at their best yet. Spin City is still good even not at it's best, but for max funny the best is yet to come.

Family Guy: Regarding Carter (2018)
Season 17, Episode 5

What did i just watch?
5 November 2018
I am a huge Family Guy fan. I've watched all previous seasons 10+ times. I can't get enough Family Guy. But this time I did. I could barely get through the episode because it was so boring. I love the Cleveland Show. I love The Orville, I love American Dad. I basically think everything Seth McFarlane touches is gold. But this was without a doubt the single worst episode in Family Guy history. The story is bland and boring, the jokes are stale and timid, everything feels uninspired. After seeing it I feel like I didn't actually watch a Family Guy episode, more like a greyish shadow of one. What is going on and how could they release this? The Simpons are getting better again, Bob's Burgers is now pretty darn fantastic and Family Guy is after this the bottom of the pack. If this is a continuing trend the show will be dead and canceled soon. Please don't let that happen!

How It Ends (2018)

A whole lot of nothing
15 July 2018
This slow moving, rather monotonous and superficial film at times has moments where I went, ok, this isn't so bad, and felt it was on to something interesting. Disappointgly, those moments were the only thing worthwhile about the movie. The premise and the cast looks interesting on paper, but what was done with it is sadly lacking, There's no substance and while I got the impression the makers of the film were going for a mysterious and profound feeling, that was far from accomplished. At best it has a few scenes that reminds you of The Walking Dead wihtout the zombies and done worse. The characters they meet along the way are mostly one dimensional stereotypes. I'd recommend pretty much any apocalyptic or post apocalyptic movie over this one. Also, the ending is annoying, cheap, disappointing and just really really lame.

This movie should never have been released...
1 April 2008
The only reason I'm giving this movie a 2 instead of a 1 is because we got a glimpse of the Predator homeworld. I'm probably being too generous.

Whith all the great stories the comic book writers come up with about these two alien races it's just mind boggling how a project as this movie, costing millions of dollars, can get produced with what may be the most chaotic and plot-hole ridden script ever.

For a fan of the Aliens/Predator universe and someone who's red all the comics this whole movie feels like a huge punch in the face. There is no respect for the lore and no wish to drive the legend further. They could have done so much and accomplished so very little.

The movie is comparable to a poorly made Friday 13th and the like.

Creators of AVPR, be ashamed, be very ashamed.

Maybe the best Animated Super-Hero Movie
28 February 2008
Marvel's Dr.strange may be a bit better than this but this is a great piece of work, the animation, all the references (which will only be confusing for all the viewers who don't read comics, although that's their loss, thanks for putting them in ;) and the voices are superb.

DC went where Marvel didn't dare to and made something a bit more adult and focused mainly on characters that aren't the big shots, which is really great because there is just so many Batman/Superman shows/movies I can take before I see some of the fantastic but lesser known characters get some screen time.

I'm only left wondering why they only made it 75 mins when there's enough loose threads here to make a full series. Seriously DC, when you make something this good, you don't hold back on at least 15 mins more you cheapskates. ;)

Bottom line, a milestone in super-hero animation and something every fan of cartoons, comics or super-heroes should watch. Let's just pray this is a glimpse of the quality that is too come and that the future films will have tighter stories.

All Americans need to see this movie
24 October 2003
Michael Moore shows you why he thinks the murder rate in the USA is abnormally high. Having lived in the U.S. and watched the news there I do see the point, but I think he fails to point out some important issues regarding African-Americans and gun-death. Michael Moore is right that in that he is just a working class guy with no proper education, it shows. But still, all, especially Americans, need to see this movie and explore the insanity of the private gun trade. Turning away from this movie is turning away from the truth!

It could have been a good movie...
10 November 1999
This movie has great actors, looks good and is based on an interesting idea, unfortunately, that's not all it takes to make a good movie. The movie fails to go in depth on anything, one should think that with a movie lasting almost three hours you'd have plenty of time to do that. The characters in this movie are too superficial and death is too nice at best, personally I think he's ridiculous, he's romantisized to death. (Please excuse the pun, I couldn't help myself.) Also, I have to wonder how death,as he behaves like autistic person in periods of the movie, suddenly becomes quite brilliant and "with it" at the end. The movie doesn't really have a climax either, it's all very nice and predictable, very, very Hollywoodish. I gather this is a pure money making scheme and not made to upset anyone who is regarded as would be audience.

In short, a very lame movie unless you're hooked on love stories.

It's a lot more exciting than you'd think!
18 August 1999
At first when I saw this movie on the shelf in the video store I figured it was just another monster movie, but since it was science-fiction I had to see it. I just have to see all movies I come across in the genre. At first I started making fun of some of the effects ( Just having been spoiled by Lost in Space and The Matrix. ) and thought that I would be amused more than amazed by this movie. I was wrong, it was not long before I noticed that this movie went the opposite direction to the common monster movie image and the story was actually quite emotional and intelligent. It surprised me many times and held both me and my girlfriend in suspense right up until the very end. For anyone who is tired of macho kill-them-all science fiction movies, which most movies involving aliens are, this is definitively one to watch.
