The Godfather (1972)
a good film but not the best
21 September 1999
The 'Godfather' is certainly a very good movie and i enjoyed it very much. But in my humble opinion there are many movies that are better than this one and its sequels. It is certainly overrated because people tend to concentrate too much on american films here. The acting of Marlon Brando is very good and makes this film something special. But anyway, at some point i got a feeling of watching some kind of soap opera because except for Brando's part the rest of the characters remain relatively flat. The music to this film is very good and contributed much to its fame. All in all i would be prepared to say it is among the best American films of the 70's.

Great comedy
20 September 1999
This film is a great parody on the influencial film 'RIFIFI'.The cast consists simply of the greatest stars of Italian cinema:Gassman,Mastroianni,Toto,Cardinale. You won't find any film nowadays which comes even close to this one. A must see for everyone who likes to laugh.

splendid comedy
3 September 1999
This is a great comedy about what it means to have a weak character.

Outstanding is the performance of Yevgenij Leonov. Everybody should watch this film because there is a great lesson to learn about life.

as bad as it gets
31 August 1999
There are a lot of bad movies, especially in Germany and in the U.S. This one is a combination of both. Roland Emmerich is as bad as always(i can't understand why people are so enthusiastic about 'Das Boot') and the story is even for American mainstream cinema very poor. especially irritating is the American nationalism in it.

The best film of the trilogy
24 August 1999
This is in my opinion by far the best of the 'trois couleurs' films. Far from any stereotypes it shows what is really going on in us. It leaves me literally breath- and speechless. It shows also the best performance of Juliette Binoche(and that means something!).If you like 'real' films about life then this is for you.

A masterpiece.

an outstanding film
23 August 1999
I really like this film because of the subtle humor it conveys to everybody who watches it. Although the life of the main hero could be described as tragic, the film is really funny and the acting is brilliant. Certainly one of the best comedies of the nineties.
