Cube (1997)
They were their own booby traps
After watching this movie, It was stuck with me for about 2 days after. Not many movies do this. I guess it's the fact that I was trying to answer those questions which I know there are no answers. " who built the cube?", "how did they get in there?". We are given a very vague explanation half way through the movie. That it is a "long lost project that has been forgotten", but the power in this movie is it's mystery. The special effects are quite cheap I found, but the movies originality made up for it. The acting was second rate and I found that they struggled to make the 90 minutes. I think with a bigger budget, this movie could have been much much more. 7.5/10
# Spoiler warning: only read if you have seen the movie #
I just want to point out something...... did anyone notice that ( except for the opening kill scene) that only one other person was killed by the cube; everyone else died at the hands of one of the other party members. This is something to think about when it comes to why they are in there.
Nick of Time (1995)
" It's Time, MR WATSON "
If there is one thing that stands out in this movie it is Christopher Walken's acting. Brilliant. Along with the low budget style of camera work, this movie is everything a thriller should be. Without giving too much of the movie away, it is about a man whose child is kidnapped, and he has to kill someone to get her back from the people who took her. I think this movie is memorable for the scene with Christopher Walken and Johnny Depp when Christopher Walken is talking about his friend who he had to kill. "Now if you have DOUBTS about what I'm gunna do to your little girl, LEMMIE TELL YA SOMETHING, I'm GUNNA MAKE GRAVY OUT YOUR LITTLE GIRL, just to season that black Irish co%$suckers meat" Whenever I watch this movie I always anticipate this scene, it is just so funny and enjoyable to watch. 6.5/10
White Sands (1992)
Interesting, but not memorable
This movie started out promising. Ray ( William Dafoe ) investigates an apparent suicide in the middle of the desert of a man with a briefcase full of money . After following clues ( including one found out of someone's stomach ) Ray eventually finds himself in trouble with criminals and the F.B.I. But after the first 40-60 minutes, the movie loses interest and becomes dull and boring. Even with the supporting cast of Mickey Rourke and Samual L. Jackson, White Sands trails away from the initial interest of the start and becomes a cliched " everyone chasing after the money " flick. I would only recommend this film for fans of Dafoe or people with nothing to do on a Saturday afternoon. 4.5/10
Blade Runner (1982)
Boring, Boring, Boring
I don't really care what all these people say about the themes of this movie and the messages, this movie is SO BORING. I've watched this movie about 5 times and every time I go to watch it I fall asleep. What the hell is happening in this movie? Harrison Ford goes after androids or something. Had a love scene with an android?? isn't he hunting them down? Then the end fight scene? what is with that? Maybe back in 1982 this movie may had looked good visually, but if I want a sci-fi from back then I'll watch Alien. This is the most over rated piece of junk ever to be released in the history of cinema. 1.5/10 ( 1.5 for Harrison Ford's acting)
