The Break-Up (2006)
This movie is better than the reviewers rating
This is a comedic love story that has a ending that is far different from the run of the mill happy endings. Break Up tells the story of a relationship that ends and the ramifications of that ending in the life of the players. Jennifer Anniston and Vince Vaughn are by far not the greatest actors on the planet and neither makes movies of any real quality. However in this movie they act well off each other and play very believable parts with emotion and feelings. In a world where we look for happy endings this movie strays from the script and provides a real life ending that still leaves the audience wanting to see how there life's develop. We saw this movie in a theater that was packed on the opening day. he audience left the theater wanting to see more which only means that the story line was a success. Please disregard the negative professional reviews and the 21/2 star rating, this is a far better movie than that.
The Proposition (2005)
The proposition will set westerns back a hundred years
The proposition is a Australian western that is so bad it could set the standard for how not to make westerns again. One thinks of the truly great western movies like high noon, Shane, the pale rider, this is nothing like the above named movie. The script is horrible, the acting even worst, you will find yourself rooting for the flies that seem to appear in every scene in the movie. Why do they make a movie like this, there cannot be much of a audience as it had a limited release and plays to almost empty theaters. We viewed this movie with twelve other people in the theater, after the movie ended the comments leaving the theater were that this was probably the worst western ever made. The movie is gory and all attending should be given a refund of there admission. This is one movie that I van honestly say that I would rather go thru root canal then see this again. Please do yourself a favor and miss this terrible production.
Marilyn Hotchkiss' Ballroom Dancing & Charm School (2005)
A small market movie but a major league hit
Movie audiences should be prepared to view a movie that tells a short with such emotion that the audience will be mesmerized by the story line and the fine acting. The lead actors are incredible as they become the characters they portray. There are minor appearances by John Goodman and Danny Devito. The dancing school becomes a major part of the characters life and manages very well to integrate many stories into a ongoing event. The story mixes well with the boys and girls attending the charm school and the way it shapes there life. The script is so wll written, the acting so good and the end of the movie will leave you asking for more. Why oh Why can they not make more movies like this one. Please do yourself a favor and seen this film as you will be truly charmed.
Thank You for Smoking (2005)
This movie fails to entertain
This is a film that could have been good but fails in all areas. The actors all of them professional with excellent resumes go thru the motions with no real interest in the production The story of a tobacco industry lobbyist could have been good satire but instead turns into a vulgar film with no need to entertain but to shock. The director of this movie as capable of so much more, the storyline could have worked but the movie which runs about 92 extra long minutes fails to entertain but does offend the senses. Rarly have I been so disappointed in a movie. The film is based on a novel by Christopher Buckley, after viewing the movie I suggest that you read the book as it has to be a lot better than this very hastily thrown together film.
Inside Man (2006)
This is a movie thriller that should not be missed
What a movie everything works, the acting is top notch, the direction is superb the story is a do not miss. Denzel Washington, Clive Owen, Jodie Foster are perfectly cast in each of there respective roles. The story of a wall street bank heist and the battle of wits between the respective parties will have to sitting on the edge of your seat and asking for more. The ending is amazing and when you leave the theater you will be sorry that this great movie ever ended. This is the true definition of a crime thriller, congratulations to Spike Lee, the featured three players and all of the supporting cast. Thank You for excellent movie going experience.
Friends with Money (2006)
This movie will entertain and is worth the admission price
This movie tells a story that has appeal to all ages of movie audiences. The actors portray there parts with emotion and all seem believable in the roles they play. Friends with money is a movie that you will enjoy while viewing, it is by no means a great movie and will not stay with you for very long. Prepare to be entertained and caught up in this story, Jennifer Anniston gives one of her better performances and Joan Cusack is always good in any movie she makes. All in all you cannot go wrong seeing and enjoying this movie. People who viewed this movie were a trifle confused by the ending which left many questions unanswered, however we understand the last words in the movie where Jennifer Anniston states I have problems to. My only wish is that the movie would end with some of her problems resolved.
Keeping Up with the Steins (2006)
This is a wonderful movie going experience
Keeping up with the steins is the type of movie that studios can be proud to release to the public. The acting is great, the script is well written, there is nothing bad about this movie. The lessons to be learned from this story are such that everyone viewing this movie can take something from it. I applaud the actors, the writers, the directors, and the production company who have placed a small gem on the market. This will not be a big market high grossing film, but if what you want is true entertainment and a feel good movie do not miss this. The large companies should produce a lot more movies like this one.
Poseidon (2006)
This movie is truly a disaster
This may be the worst movie of all time. The star of the movie is the onrushing water. The actors are only there as a backdrop to the crushing torrents of water. This movie is a disgrace and anyone watching it a second time should receive a warning that another viewing of this movie could cause permanent brain damage. Everyone associated with this production owes an apology to all who have paid money to view this disaster. There are some movies that should never be remade, if remade at least have the good sense to make a movie where you have some feelings for the parts the actors are playing. This movie has one redeeming note, it runs under two hours. Avoid this movie at all costs.
