Like it's made in the early 70s
25 February 2017
The Love Witch comes off as a homage movie to the witch/vampire movies of the early 70s, almost everything feels late 60s/early 70s, in this way this movie is shot, the use of zooming and the lightning, the same goes for the nice sounds and music. Even so, this story is actually set in present day, occasionally you will see a smartphone and a modern BMW among a few other things. I would rather seen that the movie was set in early 70s since it looks and feels very retro. When it comes to the story it suffers from a mediocre script , and it's just a little too lengthy, they should had kept it at 90 minutes, not 120.

The acting comes of for the most parts as awkward, except the star of this movie the love hungry witch Samantha Robinson she absolutely nails it in this femmen fatale role. But overall, The Love Witch comes of as more style than substance, it a gorgeous movie for us who loves the retro style, but it's definitely not a movie for everyone, probably only a very few. But I'm looking forward to see what director Anne Biller has more to come in the future, hope she continuous with these kind of retro movies.

A disappointing end to what could have been a good slasher trilogy
4 June 2015
After two decent movies made with the same director and writer you would think that this would be awesome like its predecessors, wrong! Pretty much everything is messed up in this movie. The biggest problem is probably the poor writing, what was the purpose? Why and what's going on? I have no idea what I've just watched, there is little to none explanation. I find this is kind of odd thinking that this is made by the same filmmakers that made Maniac Cop 1 and 2, two movies that has a rather easy and straightforward plot, the whole movie feels rushed and unfinished. There is not much good to say about this movie, even Cordell reacts unnatural compared with MC 1 and 2, but it does have some neat fire stunts. Anyway, a disappointing and by far the weakest movie in the Maniac Cop trilogy.

Don't judge a book by its cover
4 June 2015
Back in the days when I was younger I used to hate this movie, I loved watching the Halloween movies with Sam Loomis and Michael Myers, since Season of the Witch had none of them, I didn't even try to like it. Most of this film criticism probably comes from this fact that this has nothing to do with to first two movies, it's not even a slasher movie. It's about this evil mastermind and his mask-making company who plans to kill millions of American children with something mystical hidden inside the popular Halloween masks. Dan O'Herlihy who plays the villain is great and so is Tom Atkins (one of the more underrated Horror/Action stars out there). I think the story is nice and original and fits the Halloween theme well. The Score is great and contributes to create a haunting atmosphere. Halloween 3: Season of the Witch deserve a identity of it's own, having witch in the title is confusing as well since there ain't no witches either. But this isn't a bad movie, nothing really horrible about it, give it a go.

Perhaps the best in the series
18 May 2015
The previous three Children of the Corn movie has all been theatrical releases, Children of the Corn: The Gathering is straight to video release, so you would think that this movie has a crappy production, so wrong! This movie is the best looking CotC movie ever made. Good camera-work, good editing, good directing, good sound design, good blood/gore, great casting. No doubt that this movie has good filmmakers behind the camera. Getting Naomi Watts starring was a great deal, I know this was before she became a Hollywood star, but she has a very charming and likable character and it fits her perfectly. Not only Naomi Watts, but the whole cast is great, and that's nothing usual in a CotC movie. Storywise is The Gathering a little different, it is like crossing a virus film with Children of the Corn, it kind of works i guess, some might not like it, I can see that. The Gathering has also a more serious tone and is much darker than previous movies. The Gathering is a different kind of CotC movie, but almost all of them are different, that's one of the things i like best about this series, unlike Friday the 13th where every movie is exactly the same, you know what they say, Children of the Corn movies is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.

Lighter and more entertaining
18 May 2015
This time there isn't a bunch of kids we follow, there is just those two, and one of them is is just there for the sub-plot (that include brother rivalry and a love interest), as he is Eli's half brother. Eli has a history of worshiping "he who walks behind the rows" and killing parents before he was adopted into a family where he gets his half brother, and now once again he is adopted for the second time after killing his last adoptive parents. This time Eli is starting a new life in the suburbs of Chicago. It doesn't take long before he starts growing his own cornfield in an old closed down factory next to his home, and then it don't take long before he gets a little group of corn cult worshiping children again. There also this sub-plot with his new father who is amazed by Eli's astonishing new corn and are trying to get rich out of it. After the boring and monotone CotC 2, this was a huge step up in entertainment. It's just more fun and had more enjoyable characters. Worth mentioning that Eli has supernatural powers like Isaac in the first movie. Special effect is good and "the puppet" with barbie doll near the end is priceless. I liked this movie, it's not great at all, but fun, a guilty pleasure. One of the better Children of the Corn movies

Boring
18 May 2015
The Final Sacrifice continuous soon after the happenings in CotC, the town of Gatlin and its children gets discovered, and then adopted to the nearest town of Gatlin, oddly enough we don't get any views about investigations or any kind of police work been done in Gatlin, it doesn't seem that the kids has gotten any kind of psychical evaluation or questioning either, those murdering children has just got shipped to the nearest town. Strangely enough is this movie made 8 years after Children of the Corn (horror sequels often tends to be released soon after the first movie) so the children from the first movie was probably too old for this movie, so we get bunch of new ones, this time on called Micah steps up to lead the corn cult worshiping children. I can't say i'm a fan of this new character, I would rather had seen Isaac and Malachi, two characters I find a lot creepier than Micah. It's not only Micah pretty much every character in this movie was bad, they were so bleak and boring that I couldn't care less if they died. The plot isn't much engaging either, and there is so many plot holes! Even this movie progress the storyline from the first one, it doesn't fit well. There absolute nothing suspenseful or scary, no atmosphere either, something i really appreciate in the first one. I'm not a huge fan of the first one, but it's better than this. David Price, the director, didn't impress much, and coming from a movie called "Son of Darkness: To Die for II" says it all, Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice was just a cash-in with poor film-team, equipment and no love.

My favorite Halloween sequel
15 May 2015
After the disappointment of not seeing Michael Myers in Halloween 3, Michael is now back from the dead and what a comeback! The movie starts perfect, the chilling and atmospheric intro is amazing, it captures the Halloween feeling perfectly, it's probably one of the most impressive intros I've ever seen. You can tell that the filmmakers had a very good team behind this film, cinematography is great and in the same vain as the original, setting is great, good directing and great casting, at least for the main characters. Donald Pleasence is as usual good as Dr. Sam Loomis, but it's those two girls who steals the show, Ellie Cornell and Danielle Harris, they have really good chemistry and acts very good. All that being said, H4: The Return of Michael Myers isn't perfect, sub-story with Rachel's boyfriend feel unnecessary, and there are other parts that just feels stupid.

Overall, The Return of Michael Myers is pretty much in the same vein as the first one, so it's a big chance for you liking this part if you loved the original, even if it isn't the masterpiece Halloween was, it's still very enjoyable and it is among Halloween 2 and H20 best best sequels in the Halloween franchise.

It's the 90s, let's have fun!
14 May 2015
After two serious and dark films, Hellraiser 3 takes a different direction, away goes the grittiness and in comes comedy, explosions and pop-culture. Also looks like the movie makers wanted to make Pinhead more like an iconic super-villain like Jason and Freddy. Hellraiser 3 can't be looked at with serious eyes, because it's so campy and ridicules, it's a very typical for late 80s and 90s horror films where the movie makers just wanted to make them light and cartoonish. Hellraiser 3 does offer some entertainment value but nothing more. I've seen all of the Hellraiser movies and for me Hellreiser series died after Hellbound (Hellraiser II).

Like no other CotC movie
14 May 2015
Genesis difference very much from the standard CotC movies, you will not find much corn and even less of children, almost no existent, and no Gatlin town, actually they are pretty much in the same cabin the whole movie, so it's different, doesn't have the CotC feel either, more like a possessed themed movie. But all that being said, the tension has probably never been better within the series, good acting (Billy Drago steels the show, possible the best performance of within all CotC movies), good camera-work and good effects, so it's a good crafted movie but, it's probably not what I wanted from a CotC movie. About the title Genesis, I didn't get much about that, it doesn't tell anything about the creation or beginning of anything, and towards the end I felt the plot was going nowhere, and when talking about the end, I didn't liked the ending at all.

Overall, Children of the Corn: Genesis was better than expected, but confusing and different.

Mixed emotions
14 May 2015
The idea of this movie is very creepy and original, but it fails to deliver on several levels. One wasted opportunity is that we follow this rather uninteresting couple trying to solve this mystery, which we as a viewer already know from the very beginning. Another thing is that the movie fails to make the children scary, the idea is creepy, but the execution not very good. The actors who are manly children are below mediocre of what to expect, even star actor Peter Horton makes a weak performance. The cinematography is also below par with a lot of close-ups of both people and sickles and corny angels, Gatlin town has great scenery and setting which they could have gotten way better use of. Not to forget mention the special effects, they are really horrible, even for 1984 standards, but it's not a very big part of the movie, but anyway, what where they thinking!

Even this isn't a very good movie I must admit I have a weakness not only this movie but several of its sequels, I keep coming back to this movies, and this is at least the third time I've seen Children of the Corn. It's an easy watch and it is entertaining, I really like the story, but I feel it could have been much more.

The Pact II (2014)
4/10
Disappointing
6 December 2014
I was quite surprised to see that The Pact got a sequel, but that was a great movie and every successful movies these days gets a sequel i guess. What's no surprise is that The Pact 2 is inferior to it's predecessor in almost every way, cinematography which is very nice is on par and in the same vein as it's predecessor. The Pact 2 does also like the first movie build up the suspense through tension and atmosphere, but it only partly succeed and relies too much on cheap jump scares. Plotwise it's rather hard to follow and sometimes confusing to see the connections, especially through her nightmare visions and the supernatural elements. I also find the acting sometimes awkward and unnatural, especially FBI agent Ballard.

New Super Mario Bros. (2006 Video Game)
10/10
Nintendo goes back to its roots to create the first 2-D Mario game in 14 years
23 July 2006
New Super Mario Bros is like the sequel that never came, until now, 16 years after the last one, Super Mario Bros 3. If you ever played those classic Mario games on NES, than you know what to expect. It's not that much different, the storyline is the same; you have to rescue Princesses Peach from Bowser. And it has some new items like the super-mushroom, which brings you to nearly the full size of the DS screen, and you can walk through almost everything. Also a blue mushroom (is not poison like in Super Mario 2) which make Mario to a Mini-Mario, which allows you to go places in the game you couldn't get to when you are normal-size. Another new item is a shell, a blue shell that you have on your back, I really didn't find that shell so much useful thou. Another new thing is that Mario can do is jump walls. But the flying power is gone, a small disappointment maybe, because I really loved Raccoon Mario. The biggest different from the classics is the graphics, is really amazing, really beautiful and perfect. They have also added Mario sound (not much), and the music is still pleasant. For experienced players could this game beaten easily and very fast, I believe it took me slightly less than five hours, and I wasn't trying to beast it fast. But the whole game wasn't completed, There are whole worlds that are skipped under "normal" playing through. Some levels have more than one exit and there are pipes and cannons to take you to various parts of the map and even other worlds. And you also got the 3 special coins that you can collect in each level, you actually need those coins to save. This is a great game and I will already call it a classic, all people who enjoy video-games will love this game. I actually bought a Nintendo DS lite because of this game and it's worth every penny. Let us just hope that Nintendo continues to keep these classics coming.

9,8/10.

Worth seeing!
22 July 2006
Devil in Miss Jones isn't your regular pornographic movie, it's dark, depressing, not very erotic and sometimes disturbing. The movie opens with Justine Jones (Georgina Spelvin), a lonely virgin spinster who slits her wrists in the bathtub. Because she has lived sinless life, she finds herself in limbo where Mr. Abaca (John Clemens) informs her that she can't qualify for Heaven and she hasn't sinned enough for Hell. After a discussion, Mr. Abaca decided that Miss Jones may return to the world for a short time to experience the sensual gratification.

Devil in Miss Jones has a hunting mood, it isn't scary, but it definitely doesn't feel like a pornographic movie. As that said, The Devil in Miss Jones isn't for them who are just looking for a constant sex-scenes movie. Devil in Miss Jones actually has an intelligent plot, it also has a very interesting vision of hell, and the ending is terrific, I'm not going spoil the ending, because that's the surprise that makes this movie good. Devil in Miss Jones is a rare and unique pornographic movie, that deserve to be called a classic (at least in it's genre..)

In Her Shoes (2005)
8/10
Pleasant surprise
6 June 2006
In Her Shoes is a movie about two sisters who has nothing in common - other than shoe size 8½. The sisters is played by Toni Collette and Cameron Diaz, they both play their roles excellent, in this character based story. I know In Her Shoes is often called a "chick-flick", is kind of true, but is just as much for man as it is for woman. It's not its like a stupid romantic comedy, is a realistic and emotional drama with a blend of comedy with brain. The character development is terrific, and I was never bored once. The Movie is directed by Curtis Hanson, a director who always gets the best out of the actors. He's most famous for directing L.A. Confidential, but my favourite is Wonder Boys, it's another movie that deals with relationships. Actually, if you like In Her Shoes, than I would recommend that you also see Wonder Boys, a movie that I think it's even better. Anyway, In Her Shoes is humorous, warm and strong, and it's refreshing, it deserves to be seen.

Nice little horror shocker
1 June 2006
Antropophagus is directed by the master of sleaze Joe D'Amato. He is famous making a lot of nasty and controversial movies, and often experimenting with gore and sex in them. Most of his movies are crap, but he has a few very good and memorable movies, and one of them is Antropophagus. This nasty and atmospheric movie, tell the story about a group of tourists who take a boat ride to a small Greek island. After they arrive they find the island complete deserted. After they have searched the town on the island, they return to the boat, there they find that the boat has drift away for no discernible reason and a pregnant member of the group has disappears without a trace. A storm is coming, so they decide to take refuge in an old family mansion. In this house they meet a blind girl that lives in fear, she doesn't know what has happened to the rest of the town, but is terrified of a man who she describes as smelling of blood. The group decides to uncover the mystery, but soon they find themselves being stalked by a madman.

Tisa Farrow (sister of Mia and star of Zombie 2) stars as Julie in the leading role, she does a fairly good job. George Eastman stars as the monstrous monster, he also wrote the script together with D'Amato. Antropophagus is a brutal and atmospheric film, with atmospheric I mean a dreamy one like in many Euro horrors. Antropophagus is also famous for two nasty scenes that are truly disgusting. I won't spoil you anything, just recommend you this little nasty masterpiece. So if you want to see this feature, than be certain to NOT see or buy the US or UK release known under the title Grim Reaper, that's because it's cut to pieces. Shriek Show released a nice 2-disc release a few months ago, so I recommend you to buy this.

The all-American classic
22 March 2006
Behind the Green Door is a ground-braking movie, it was the first adult movie with widely released in the United States, not only in adult theaters, but also in respectable mainstream movie houses. With Behind the Green Door the Mitchell Brothers changed the face of the adult film industry.

Marilyn Chambers stars as Gloria Saunders, and she plays a girl that's being kidnapped, and forced to perform various sexual acts before an audience at an underground sex club. The plot line doesn't sound that complex, and it isn't either, but this movie has one great and interesting character played terrific by Marilyn Chambers. The story is also very artistically, stylish and most erotic. Behind the Green Door isn't "just a porn movie", is actually much closer to an art-movie. Is like, if Kubrick ever made porn, than I guess it would look something like Behind the Green Door.

Behind the Green Door is really a masterpiece in its genre, and one of the most important movies in the history of America. 9 out of 10.

Man Bites Dog (1992)

Man Bites Dog is bloody amazing
18 February 2006
Benoît Poelvoorde plays a mass-murder called Ben, he kills people without motive and does it for fun! A documentary film crew finds out about his "hobby", and rather than turning him in, they decide to make a documentary film on him. The film crew joins him and at times they even help him!

Man Bites Dog is a spoof of the documentary genre, can also been seen as a spoof of mass murder and slasher films. Actually the brilliant mocumentary "This is Spinal Tap" is pretty much the same thing, but here we follow a mass murder instead of a rock band. I consider myself as a fan of this weird genre, and Man Bites Dog is one of the best. It's a macabre film, not everyone will like what they see. The jokes are as dark as comedy can be, and I love it, Man Bites Dog is absolutely hilarious.

Fascinating documentary
27 August 2005
Armbrytaran från Ensomheten is an awarded Swedish documentary about a small village and its young world champion in arm wrestling.

Heidi Anderson is the name of the 22 years old girl who is world champion in arm wrestling, in this documentary you will get a view about how she lives in this very small and strange village called Ensamheten (in English solitude), it is a village that contains 16 citizen, and they are all relatives. We also follows her to the world championship in Canada.

It's a fascinating documentary, and it has a really good father daughter portrait. It's also very interesting too see how all those relatives work together in this small and isolated village.

If you have a chance too see it, give it a try.

See the Sea (1997)
7/10
Horrifying French suspense about curiosity, desire and identity.
12 August 2005
The film is directed by the controversial François Ozon. See the Sea is also his first long feature, as that said; the film isn't very long, only 52 minutes.

See the sea is very short and very powerful, but it's also very minimal. Like, there are only three characters in the film, and only two of them can talk, and they barley do. And there is no music or sound effects, everything is quiet, and it's stylistic photographed. It kind reminds me of Roman Polanskis masterful film Knife in the Water.

See the sea is a good and very rarely film, but where the film totally failed is the "shocking end", because it isn't shocking, I saw the ending just after five minutes.. So the surprise effect is totally gone, and that ruin the film a lot. But still worth watching.

Motorpsycho! (1965)
7/10
A serious Russ Meyer picture.
30 July 2005
Motor Psycho is directed by the infamous bosomania director Russ Meyer. But this film is no sexploitation movie, this is straight beastploitation, whit no humour or campy stuff, as we know Meyer movies best.

Motor Psycho tells the story about a veterinarian Corey Maddox, his wife has been violent raped, by three violent motorcyclists who like raping other people's woman. Maddox decide to hunt down the motorcycle gang. On his way into the canyon he's teaming up with a Cajun woman, who's lost her husband, whose has been killed by the same gang. Maddox and Ruby (The Cajun woman) have now to face up whit the motorcycle gang and its leader who's happened to be a crazy Vietnam veteran.

Whit Motor Psycho Meyer shows us that he can make more than boob flicks. Motor Psycho is a frightening drama that should be taken seriously and as important work. The acting performances is mediocre, Alex Rocco (plays the character Corey Maddox) as the most famous one, he is best known for The Godfather. The lovely Ruby are being played by Haji, she played one of the three toughs in 'Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill' the following year.

I think this small and effective pictures works, and I it found interesting. Give it a try. 7 out of 10.

Tank Girl (1995)
3/10
I'll believe Tank Girl would have been better inn all cartoon.
30 July 2005
The film is very fast-moving, bizarre and colorful, it's like Mad Max on speed whit tons of colorers and make-up. Also very Cartoonish, as that said; cartoon sequence pops up here and there. The plot is also very saucy, but I'll believe it's meant too be. The thing that really drives me crazy in this movie, is the characters, they are painfully irritating, especially Rebecca played by Lori Petty, she's really annoying (I'll believe she is the most annoying creature I've ever seen). The editing is also annoying, very MTV stylized. Another thing that's missing from Tank Girl is an exciting adventure. The humor isn't much funny either. It has some nice visuals though.

However a lot of people love this film, most of them are women, and that's not weird at all, because this movie is all about girl power.. Tank Girl this is a real chick flick, and the best example of an hate/love film.

Clockers (1995)
8/10
Riveting!
30 July 2005
This 1995 crime drama is directed by Spike Lee, and it's based on the riveting bestseller by Richard Price. Clockers was originally to be a Martin Scorsese picture, but he change his mind and made Casino instead, so than Scorsese asked Spike Lee if he'd want to direct, and that he did.

Plot: Strike (Phifer) works as a clocker (drug pusher) in a New York ghetto under the tutilage of drug-lord Rodney Little (Delroy Lindo). When someone kills one of Rodney's enemies Detective Klein (Keitel) investigates. Strike's older brother turns himself in as the killer. Det. Rocko Klein doesn't buy the story, however, and sets out to find the truth, and it seems that all the fingers point toward Strike & Rodney.

Clockers is a raw, powerful and gritty. The script is tight and it brings a message. Good dialogs and good characters developed. Spike Lee's directing is on target. And the soundtrack is very well. Clockers is much better than the usual hood films. It's a gripping and knowing look at the modern mean streets.

There are many films based around the topic of drugs, and urban decay, and Clockers is one of the better ones.

Great reunion with Keaton and Allen.
30 July 2005
Manhattan Murder Mystery is a terrific Woody Allen film whit a wonderful mix of murder, mystery and comedy. With an all star fantastic cast; Woody Allen, Diane Keaton, Alan Alda, Anjelica Huston and Jerry Adler.

The reunion of Keaton and Allen together was such a delight, the chemistry between Allen and Keaton, is truly top-notch, remind me of Annie Hall.(Diane Keatons role where actually intended for Mia Farrow, but as most of you know Woody Allen was going through his off-screen scandal at the time..). Like the most of Allens films this also have a witty dialog and excellent character development. And the murder mystery is very intelligent, fun and stylish mystery-comedy. Whit Manhattan Murder Mystery Allen also reunites with writer Marshall Brickman, they wrote Annie Hall and Manhattan together, Like those films, this one contains some very funny one-liners.

Manhattan Murder Mystery is one of Woody Allen's most wonderful movies. 9 out of 10.

An Euro horror favorite.
29 July 2005
Buio Omega also know as Beyond the Darkness is directed by Aristide Massaccesi, one of Joe D'Amatos many nick name names. The infamous exploitation director D'Amato is most know for mixing gore with sex, and Buio Omega isn't an exception. But I would say that Buio Omega is different than others D'Amato films. Because this is much more realistic, his other films (I haven't seen all of his films) are often very unrealistic and funny, they are often turned into parodies. Buio Omega isn't funny alt all, it's a deep seriously film, and it's off course perverse and disgusting. And the gore, oh my! It's amazing, outrageous! Probably the best gore scenes I have seen.

The Plot is pretty simple, but in the story you get a lot of bizarre and twisted scenes, and an amazing beautifully rotten atmosphere. The actor does a fairly good job too. Especially Franca Stoppi she plays Iris the housekeeper, her performance is unforgettable. The Goblin, best known for their music in Dario Argentos films, also have the soundtrack here, and it fits good (as usual).

Buio Omega is a must see for every extreme horror fans. 9 out of 10.

Charming Euro-sleaze
10 January 2005
Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals is my second Joe D'Amato film after The Arena, witch was a big disappointment, so my expectations wasn't very high. But it was a pleasant surprise, I found it very entertaining. But it wasn't like that the story was good or anything, because the story is not very original and it wasn't any good either. Well, we could call it an average story, at least it isn't any worse than a regular Hollywood plot. Anyway this reporter Emanuelle, played by the beautify Laura Gemser witness a gruesome cannibalistic slaying at a New York City hospital. She apparently wants to learn about such behavior firsthand and journeys down the Amazon with a research team to find the tribe in question.

Laura Gemser plays Emanuelle whit big passion and do a pretty good job. The direction isn't exactly world class but, D'Amato do fairly good job too. The horror in this move isn't very scary, but it's a bit frightening whit cannibals thou, I can admit that, but for mostly is it amusing. Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals isn't exactly a comedy either but most people will think of it that way, at least I did and I liked it very much, so much that I'm going to see more from D'Amato and the Black Emanuelle series.

I would recommend this film to people who like trash- and exploitation cinema.

I give this a nice 7 out of 10.
