Made in U.S.A. (1987)
Awesome Travel Flick in Vein of David Lynch
Christopher Penn is amazing in this 80's romp through America, with his band of misfits stealing cars from sea to shining sea. So many great vignettes, Penn plays a disenchanted third wheel to the strong relationship between the other two actors; but with the trio's commitment to terrorize and take whatever they can find, they come across as a great team. Part Bonnie and Clyde, part Wild at Heart, this low budget hidden gem shines with the brilliant soundtrack by SONIC YOUTH. Must see for any Chris Penn fans, and fans of SY.

Film Noir in a Hurricane?
Seems like Rod Serling might have had something to do with this one, lots of creepy Twilight Zone closeups. Seems like Lauren Bacall and Bogey were trying to relive something of their past with this one. But the gangsters are just fantastic, just such a great cast! Edward G. Robinson is terrific, and Claire Trevor won the Acadamy Award for best supporting actress. Really good stuff here. But the one thing that really bother me ... and this might be a spoiler here, so do use caution if you want to read on ... but these gangsters were just the stupidest people ever! How are they going to smuggle loot from Columbia if they don't have one of their own boat guys? That was just stupid!
