Heroes: Chapter Three 'Kindred' (2007)
Hiro is no Hero
It can't just be me, one person, a speck on this wide world that is alone in his hatred for Hiro Nakamura. Whenever i say so much as one bad word against his name i seem to be greeted by disgusted faces, maybe i just have to face the fact that the world LOVES Hiro Nakamura. And i have no idea why. Hiro Nakumura may well be the most irritating character ever seen on TV, he looks like a Japanese Timmy Mallet, he sounds like someone who has overdosed on Helium and he behaves like a hyper ten year old. He was bad enough in the first series, but in the second series he is now unbearable especially in his scenes with the equally annoying Takezi, the white Japanses legend.
For this heroes fan, the second series has been a huge let down, a massive flop- the show has slid from its place with the best of 'em- Lost, Prison Break, CSI to the squalor of the rest. Peter is still a wet towel, Claire is still confused and whiny ( still looking mighty fine to make up for it), Nathan is still grumpy, sylar is still alive (how??). And then there's Micah. I grimace at even the sound of his name, the kid is the most boring, annoying, smothering character ever created.
So, i find myself with few characters to sympathise with, there's the lovable big guy- Parkman, the intriguing yet probably boring Mohinder, the mysterious Mr. Bennet and the funny guy Ando.
I'll keep watching but i'm not the edge of jumping ship, heroes takes itself so seriously and thinks it can encapsulate an audience even though not much happens in each episode- i think it will be a matter of time before we all forget.
One more thing, what the hell happened to Claude???? i loved that guy.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)
Awful book, awful film
Before i begin my rant, i would like to point out that this film was doomed from the start. This is because the book by J.K Rowling, the fifth in the incredibly mediocre series, is by far the worst book of the lot. It is a obese thing, full of pointless drivvle and bland characters.
The film, like the book, is too long and has a huge lack of action. Voldemort is as scary as your average bald bloke on the street and Helen Botham Carter is more like a mother dressing up on Halloween rather than a lunatic.
The acting, if you can call it that, is diabolical. Daniel Radcliffe, bless him, cannot act to save his life. I cringed when Harry delivered his heart-felt speech to Voldemot. " I have something that you don't- friendship and love". Please. Emma Watson is another who makes me smirk at her sheer appallingness. Rupert Grint is okay, but his job of delivering the funny lines is pretty easy.
At the end of this film i felt as if i had been mugged. My legs were dead, my eyelids closing and my head drooping. I would rather have watched paint dry. Nothing happened. And the scene with Voldemort was pathetic.
I went with my cousin, a Harry Potter fanatic, and to sum up the film i shall use his words- " The acting was diabolical, the screenplay was shocking, but it was still a good movie". Better still, don't see it, don't waste your money and don't' give J.K Rowling and her cronies the satisfaction.
Ps- How the hell is this in the top 250 films ever made??????
Lost: Through the Looking Glass: Part 1 (2007)
Everything Changes. Wow.
This episode had everything. I've stuck with Lost throughout season 3, i actually think it's been pretty good despite what critics say. And this episode exemplified why people watch Lost. It was gripping throughout, no pointless flashbacks or filler scenes. Total shock and horror, and an ending that leaves you begging for more but knowing it's a long wait...
It's tragic, action-packed, and finally the audience learns a few of the islands secrets. Just as you look at the clock in the 80th minute mark and you think they've covered everything, the writers come up with an ending that really does change everything. Unpredictable.
The fate of Charlie is as tense as ever and overall the acting is great ( other than the woman who plays Penny). Insteas of the usual meandering pace, with a couple to many sub-plots, this episode is non-stop tension. I would have to say, that this episode is the best episode of Lost that i have seen- even better then the 'Man behind the Curtain' which i thought would be hard to outdo.
To conclude, i believe that this episode sets up what should be a thrilling season 4 if they are to use the same literary technique as used in this episode (ill say no more). 10/10. best 2 hours of TV i've ever seen. wow.
