Asylum (2008)
Disney Channel's Attempt of a Horror Movie
Okay, so first of all, this movie was made in 2008. It shouldve been better since we have improved with special effects over the years. Horror fans seek something new and different than all this "Re-imagining crap we keep getting of a lot of classic horror films. Anyway, throughout this movie, I saw a lot of scenes and themes from older, better and classic movies. For example, our "Killer" is bacially a phsycopath man who goes around killing teens in twisted and nasty ways. Just like the "Saw" series, except the dude is already dead. What the hell? So he is a ghost that is miracurosly alive and in good shape coming back for his so called "Revenge" just like Nightmare on Elm Street or Friday the 13th. Burke is the killer's name and he has the Kruegar/Voorhees/Black Christmas theme to him. Next...we have our "wonderful" death scenes. Which are just like Black Christmas with the gouging of the eyes, ripping of the lips and tongue, hanging someone hanging from a string, chopping a girls head off...typical nasty crap. It is also very much Nightmare on Elm Street. The killer appears to his victims after the lights go out and he is able to transform into people's parents and make them re-live their worst nightmare. Just like Freddy Krueger.
So I have made this clear that I hate this movie. Its plain stupid and retardedly messed up. I will explain more on the message boards.
Directors...don't mess with the classics!!!! ~Sam~
Cloverfield (2008)
Two words, Motion Sickness
First of all, the taping was horrible. I know that taping with an actual video camera (Used for home videos) was supposed to create a documentary effect but seriously I felt like I was gonna puke the entire time.
Second of all, we've all seen The Blair Witch Project and Godzilla. Cloverfeild was like both those movies and I Am Legend mixed together. Plus, this movie had a bunch of horror movie clichés like there's a surviving group of people and each one of them dies one by one except for the main character and his lover. Or, the lover dies and the main character lives. And again, like most suspenseful movies, they left us hanging in the end with no sequel. Not explaining if someone found the video or not, what happened to the monster or where the freak that thing came from. Which made my jaw drop. To me, it was sort of a waste of time. "What where's the ending?" now it's left to my imagination to finish the movie off.
The rest of the movie was okay I guess. Some unrealistic parts were included. Okay like the part when that Beth chick was stabbed with something sharp through the ground totally bleeding. She was left there for like two hours and is still alive. Later, she is still alive after getting pulled out of the ground with the thing through her heart, jumping out of a building and falling out of a helicopter. "What the hell?" that doesn't make any since. Did the director keep her in the movie just cause she'd pretty? It's an intense action movie with humor, horror and romance? WOW!!!
Anyway, Cloverfeild was good until the end. It kept me on the edge of my seat. (And on the edge of throwing up) despite the taping looking like a little kid running around with a camera, it was interesting. But it could have been better.
The Zodiac (2005)
Now I will wait for a good movie about him...
***Mild Spoilers*** I'm sorry to the director and producer and actors who worked hard (But not hard enough) on making this film. The movie needs A lot of improvement! Come on The Zodiac is based on a true story come on, "The Zodiac likes killing people cause it's so much fun!" He might as well kill himself! And the biggest spoiler that all these slasher films have been giving away, is the clue that the killer is about to kill. I didn't jump once during this film. They should have made Zodiac appear at random moments don't even give us a clue that the killer is near! The situations were plain boring mostly at the killing parts and when they talked all I heard was "BLAH BLAH ZODIAC KILLED SO AND SO AT THIS PLACE BLAH BLAH!" I was all "Say what?" cause I didn't know what they were talking about! No suspense at all! I mean this movie was so boring that I could spoof it all the way through! It's like Zodiac quit smoking and killing became his new hobby! If somebody could PLEASE remake this movie that would be great! Hey, I wonder if the real Zodiac thought this movie was good? L.O.L
Halloween (1978)
I slept with my lights on for a week!!!
Dude this movie was SO scary! although Michael Myers is awesome, in his movies the dude will never die!!! seriously how could that happen? if you shot him ten times he'd still survive! anyway, of course if Halloween made me not sleep they did a great job cause horror movies are supposed to scare you...DUH!!! every single actor did awesome in this movie even the people with no lines. but why did 6 year old Michael hurt his sister again? that was really random and in these type of "Serial Killer" movies they should have a reason why they kill people otherwise Halloween was hecka sick!! I loved it SO much!!! Future directors and producers PLEASE Don't do a remake for Halloween 2 it will ruin all of Tony Moran's work I'm sure he's already mad!!!
The Omen (2006)
Wow Seamus is a Cutie!!!
The Omen wasn't scary at all although it was good. The producer and director both did an awesome job at Choreographing the set scenery and lines. All the actors did a wonderful job. Seamus was cute while also being very creepy! All the actors did a good job. expecailly Julia Stiles. it would have been better if the scenes were scarier and the whole dog thing was hard to understand and some scenes seemed unrealistic like when Katherine was in the bathroom and she saw the devil thing it the mirror. some parts were funny to me like the scene where the nanny gets hit by a car LMAO!!! but when I saw the trailer, I thought that the movie would be more suspenseful. but otherwise the movie was awesome!
Napoleon Dynamite (2004)
Why Did I Rent This Crap?
all i have to say was that there were only two funny parts and the acting was lousy
i mean LIGER? what the crap?
i spent ten dollars to rent this thinking that id like it!
{Sorry, Jon Heder you did better in Benchwarmers!}
Sorry to the producer and director too.
You've done better Haiely Duff
Too old school for me!!
The movie was altogether, boring and weird Where did the DYNAMITE part come from?
I sat on the couch the whole time biting my nails, wondering when the movie would end
Its 2004,why would Summer be interested in the BackStreet Boys? LAME!!
The movie seemed too long even though it wasn't
at least i had caramel popcorn to enjoy
Also,i had a baby doll project for science class,so the plastic thing cried while i was trying to eat
My friends said it was good WIERDOS
if Summer went to our school, she wouldn't be cool at all!
What was up with Napolian's Brother?
This Movie sucked!
Black Christmas (2006)
One of My Fave New Movies
I'm a huge horror freak! Black Xmas is one of my fave movies! i think Michelle Trachenburg,Robert Mann,Crystal Lowe and Mary Elizabeth Winstead did their absolute best in the film! But mostly Michelle. She was the role of a pretty young adult who was sassy and loyal to her sorority sisters! But anyway, some of the content seemed unrealistic and pointless. i mean eating people, that's just plain sick! it was pointless for that wackjob Billy Lenz to bake cookies out of his mom's skin and eat them. Billy should have just ran away from his family if the mom didn't care for him. the nice dad, before he got killed he should have divorced the wife and took Billy with him. don't you think that would really happen in real life anyway. the producer should have found a different reason why Billy was a serial killer! Shouldn't all the sorority sisters left the house walking instead of using a car after they found out that Claire was missing and after they got the phone call from Billy? and suriously,i'd rather be freezing cold than wait in the house till i'm dead. Why is Agnes played by a man anyway? that's just creepy. and making love with your son? yes, Billy's mom had sex with him while he was sleeping! How could Ms.Mac be killed by an icicle falling in her eye? wouldn't she just go blind? And Billy's Death was unrealistic! How could you die from falling down the stairs and being literally impailed on the top of a Christmas tree? In real life Billy would had just fallen off and broke his head on the tile or something! Otherwise the movie was awesome even though it was pointless I saw it with my best friend and we were all "What the Crap?" but still, we loved it! But just too much blood, gore and guts!
The Amityville Horror (2005)
Amityville Horror (Best Remake Yet!)
You suck if you thought this movie sucked! Michael Bay is the best producer. The actors were awesome...The movie wouldn't have been the best with out you...You guys rock!!!
Summary:
In November, 1974 twenty-year-old Ronnie DeFeo shot his entire family in 112 Ocean Avenue, Amityville. One year later, the Lutz family moves in, Kathy, George, Billy, Michael, Chelsea and their dog, Harry. What was their dream home became their nightmare. The family suffers twenty-eight days of terror re-living what happened to the DeFeos. They have terrible visions of the Anti-Christ, tortured Indians who died on their property and the ghost of Jodie DeFeo. Will the family survive or will they die just like the Defeos did? Rent this exciting movie on DVD based on the true story.
The Topic of the Movie:
This incredible movie was memorable, interesting and entertaining. The Amityville Horror was memorable because, the movie was based on the true story. Of course the producer and director changed the setting up a little bit to make the subject scarier which is why the movie was memorable. When Jodie hurts the babysitter, Lisa the part is memorable because the scene is unusual and unrealistic. Also the scene where George chases his family through the house and out the front door it is memorable and keeps you on the edge of your seat because you don't know when George is going to jump out at you. Another thing that was memorable was the time George woke up every night while he was in that house, 3:15am. Now waking up at 3:15am is ironic for me. The film was interesting and entertaining because of how many random scares that you're going to get when you watch it. Usually the scares come when you least expect it that makes the movie fun and enjoyable.
The Creator's Opinions:
This movie is a remake of the 1970's original. The producer, Michael Bay thought that the remake was more successful than the original. I agree. Since they remade the movie in 2005, the special effects are improved, the acting and make up is better and the way they put together all of the scary scenes that made the movie awesome! Some of the other crew members commented on Chloe Grace Moretz who was about seven when they shot the film did an incredible job. Especially when she had to shoot the scene when she was on the roof. The roof to the house on the set was narrow. If you tried to get down
safely with out being strapped to something, you'd probably get seriously hurt of you'd die. Chloe was strapped on safely to something but still she was very scared to walk across the roof. But the shooting of the scene was successful and I agree that Chloe did a wonderful job. Melissa George commented that Isabel Conner did just as well as Chloe. For Isabel being six years old in her first movie playing the dead girl, Jodie DeFeo she was awesome! All of her lines and facial expressions were well thought out!
Issues The Subject Raises:
In Amityville, there are a lot of issues including paranormal. Kathy Lutz's dream was to live peacefully in this beautiful Dutch Colonial home and to have a happy family until death. The main issue is that the spirits and the house itself are trying to possess George and make the family re-live the DeFeo's terrifying life Aside from George, Chelsea makes friends with Jodie. Little does Chelsea know that Jodie is dead and is trying to convince Chelsea to kill herself so that they can play together forever and ever? The possibilities for the actual situation would be for Kathy and George to not even buy the house at all because they knew that there were murders in the house in the first place. But then again, there wouldn't be a story.
Personal Issues:
The piece did affect me. This movie was my second horror movie. So I didn't know what to expect. In the very beginning when Ronnie shot Jodie, it made me sad. Because the little girl was only five and she was trying to tell her brother that she loved him and she didn't want him to hurt her, but he did it anyway. Jodie was innocent but the devil possessed her and made her do terrible things. But still, my opinions about the topic haven't changed.
Conclusion:
The Amityville Horror remake is my favorite movie of all time. I never get tired of watching it over and over again. The movie got me more interested in scary movies. Now, I'm not afraid to watch anything. Besides, I liked everything the cast and crew members created; I love the storyline and the special effects of course! Thanks to the cast and crew, this movie wouldn't have been the best without you. You may find the topic scary, but after the first five minutes, you really get into watching the film. If you are a drama or horror seeker (even if you don't sound interested give this movie a chance!) The Amityville Horror is the perfect movie for you!!!
